    Programme Manager, Schools

    As the Programme Manager, Schools you will be responsible for assisting in the management of the entire “front of house” school operations from beginning to end. This is a highly hands-on job, involving intense programme management skills, impeccable customer service, and constant accountability. This includes managing the engagement field team responsible for launching and managing new partnership schools as well as overseeing the execution of advertisements, events, and parent programmes.

    What you will do

    • Coordinate the management of BayelsaPRIME Partnership Schools in collaboration with the Director of Schools
    • Supervise and manage community engagement strategy for building powerful public schools
    • Develop, manage and supervise engagement activities in day to day running of the schools
    • Coordinate schools, supplies, grounds, and overall inventory management; school leader supervision and mentorship; and more – including accountability measures
    • Coordinate community outreach across all BayelsaPRIME partnership communities including advertisements, events, communications, programmes, promotions and more aimed at parents, community leaders and influencers, and general public
    • Spend time in BayelsaPRIME partnership communities developing knowledge of the communities as well as driving customer insights and critical business issues opportunities
    • Assist in recruiting, induction trainings, workshops, and on-going professional development
    • Oversee the collation of information from all departments; maintain weekly trackers, supervise data collection from field; work with assigned partners and Director to increase community linkages.
    • Ensure that schools grounds and buildings are maintained, oversee repairs, and training principles.
    • Develop and work with SBMCs, Community Leaders in developing strategic plans for school management.
    • Oversee activities of the department in the absence of the Director

    What you should have

    • A Bachelor's degree in Social sciences, Community Development, Business Management or in any relevant field
    • At least 5 years relevant experience, including extensive experience in operations, programme management, managing field teams, retail, sales, and customer strategy
    • Prior experience working within a fast-paced, metric driven sales organization; start up or high-growth company experience preferred
    • Experience working with low income customers; community engagement in the education or health sector is a major plus
    • Experience planning events; interacting with major stakeholders; community, business and government

    Programme Managing Director (South South)

    The Managing Director is responsible for providing overall leadership management and general technical direction of the entire program, ensuring an integrated vision among different components, functions and stakeholders, and a focus on achieving the results defined in the contract. You will be responsible for leading and overseeing the development, delivery and day-to-day management of a high quality, innovative, cost effective and sustainable education program resulting in immediate and lasting change for children and building the capacity of the duty bearers. This is a highly hands-on job, involving intense program management, broad technical knowledge covering financial management, supply chain, government relations and school operations management. For this role, we need someone who has the experience of managing highly complex and large programs with a lean team coupled with a deep passion for the programme mission. Leadership, humility and self-awareness are a must to be successful. This is an incredibly fast-paced and absorbing role that will ask a lot of you but it will also be personally rewarding in that you will see the impact of your efforts first hand.

    What will you do

    • Act as the senior General Manager for the program, overseeing budgets, strategic and operational delivery and stakeholder management.
    • Lead and manage the program team – providing the vision, day-to-day coordination, resource management, and supervision required to accomplish project objectives and to deliver superior quality products.
    • Be the primary liaison with the designated Ministry of Education, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and elected political champions and his or her representatives, responding to client needs within the limits of the arrangement.
    • Ensure quality control and the overall responsiveness of technical assistance provided, including necessary adjustments to operations to fit the requirements of the programme.
    • Identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner, and suggest appropriate program adjustments.
    • Ensure the technical and methodological soundness of activities and, in collaboration with the Collaborate with colleagues to solve problems and build a learning environment within the program team and other function heads of the organization.
    • Responsible for on or under budget delivery of all aspects of the programme.

    What You Should Have

    • Bachelor’s degree essential, MBA (or Master’s) would be preferred.
    • At least 10 years (or 8 years if you have gone through a rigorous Master's degree program from an institution or repute) of progressively responsible experience working in project management and design in developing countries, preferably including experience in the state or country to which you will be assigned.
    • At least 5 years of people management experience, including direct supervision of professional and support staff and assembling teams working in multi-faceted roles including field based roles with at least 2 years of general management experience developing and executing strategy and leading diverse operational departments of a program or commercial entity 
    • A proven track record of excelling in the leadership of operational teams, as well as in design-thinking, process and system design and application, managing complex and inter-related functions, as this will be critical overseeing a large scale school system transformation.
    • Prior experience within a fast-paced, high-growth, metric-driven operational organization will be an advantage.
    • Strong management skills, leadership qualities, professional reputation, ability to build or access key contacts within the Ministry of Education or equivalent local and state regulatory bodies.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government representatives, for-profit private sector entities, local community organizations, donors, consortium members and other stakeholders, at national and sub-national levels.
    • Respect and sensitivity towards cultural, gender, ethnicity and religious diversity.
    • Maturity and confidence in dealing with high ranking officials of government institutions, international institutions and non-government institutions.
    • Demonstrated excellent communications and writing abilities and superior interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.

    Schools Supervisor (South South)

    Each Supervisor is responsible for the professional development, including ongoing performance management of school staff. As a Supervisor, you are in schools each day, providing ongoing mentorship, specific performance feedback, and on-going group and personal training. In this role, you also engage with all stakeholders of the schools under your care, including government officials, parents, and community groups as may be required. Your role is the nexus of all that we do, ensuring the implementation and results of our overall programing, integrating school management, leadership & development of school staff, instructional design and technology. Using big data that provides a visibility into everyday teaching practices and school management, you work with school staff to improve performance – with the goal of student performance and character development in mind –and provide feedback on core programming to our design teams.

    • Be responsible for supervising the work of all school leaders in your assigned area, including all aspects of School Management, and community and parent engagement. Ensure each school leader delivers on promise of learning and holistic development for children, has a strong and high-performing cohort of teachers, operates within its budget and sustains enrollment necessary for financial sustainability;
    • Use data from multiple sources, including your own classroom observations and school management observations, quality assurance audits, and big data on school staff behavior, to lead school staff to improve their practice, with an unwavering eye to student learning and holistic development.
    • Use data from multiple sources to ensure effective school management, and a safe learning environment.
    • Be in schools 80% time, observing teaching, management, and engaging with stakeholders, including government officials, parents, and community groups.
    • When observing or holding meetings, use rubrics or other documents to support structured observation and reporting.
    • Support specific school events, including collaborating on programming for such events as school opening celebrations, parent teacher conferences and school closing celebrations, as well as community showcases and participation in co-curricular competitions.
    • Ensure school staff and students are prepared to sit in government-proctored exams, as they may occur on a termly/semester basis, and with particular attention to national examinations.
    • Ensure school strength and support enrollment efforts.
    • Ensure local regulatory processes are followed, including environmental & social standards, as well as national regulations.
    • Lead leadership & development sessions the course of the school year, and during induction training for new staff, using the materials and programming developed by the Leadership & Development team.
    • Support schools through transition of staff, including school leaders and teachers; work with local government and other local organizations as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned
