    Program Intern- Protection

    PROGRAMS AND OPERATIONS INTERN

    • The internship program in CASFOD provides on-the-job training in program management, research and data gathering skills, communication, people skills, and work ethics.
    • It enhances experience through practical and guided hands-on exposure and involvement in CASFODs projects as well as providing exposure to the working environment of a civil society organization and a better understanding of CASFODs goals and activities.
    • The Program Intern will support the project management and technical work which includes; the development of work plans, stakeholder engagement, documentation, monitoring, research, and other project implementation activities.
    • Recognising the importance of the internship program, we propose hiring of a program intern and an operations intern to contribute to our efforts in effectively promoting CASFODs goal and values.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • We are looking for a graduate in a social science, development or health related course and evidence of participating in NYSC.
    • He/she should have half or one year’s work experience with CSO/NGO engaging with communities, and their stakeholders.
    • In addition to the above, the preferred candidate should have demonstratable experience on social and development interventions for women and youths, with knowledge and passion for working in the development sector.
    • Experience in basic microsoft package is also needed for this role.
    • He/she resides in the locations Yola South, Madagali, Gombi and Numan LGAs of Adamawa State.

    Education Officer

    The following defines the roles and responsibilities of the education officer.

    • Work closely with the program manager in implementing and developing all aspects of the education project.
    • Develop activity concept notes and implement approved activities.
    • Compile and submit monthly and quarterly work plans and reports to the program manager.
    • Regularly follow up schools, identify needs of trainings, plan trainings, implement and report.
    • Plan a joint monitoring visit to schools and facilitate feedback session and regular discussion forum with school officials.
    • Work closely with the entire education team including teachers and volunteers and other thematic areas in implementing and developing all aspects of the project.
    • Work with communities to encourage enrolment of girls and suggest strategies to CASFOD to assist in planning, organizing and overseeing teacher-training programs and ensure follow up, monitoring and evaluation is done to support the teachers.
    • Supervise to ensure timely and accurate delivery of material supplies to schools and ensure proper distribution plan and documentation is in place.
    • Lead workshops for teachers, communities, PTAs, children and others as designated.
    • Support to improve digital literacy for girls in schools.
    • Oversee the implementation of girls only non-formal education programs.
    • Support career guidance for girls and women in schools.
    • Support livelihood empowerment of girls and women in the non-formal education centers.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Experience of working in Nigeria on Education or protection response.
    • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with children in conflict affected communities.
    • Fluency in English and excellent writing skills.
    • Strong analytical, reporting, strategic thinking and planning skills.
    • Fair monitoring and evaluation skills/experience.
    • Knowledge of project cycle management.

    Protection Officer

    The following defines the roles and responsibilities of the protection officer.

    • Work closely with education officer to ensure the quality implementation of Child Protection activities in the field.
    • Lead on case management activities and be superviser in the designated field sites, with support from case workers, including coordinating and sharing data with other service providers using the new Case Management SOPs, annexes, forms and handbook.
    • Prepare monthly activity plans with line staff as necessary and ensure smooth implementation of these plans.
    • Set up/strenghen child protection committees, including training and awareness raising on child protection law in their communities and linking children to available services.
    • Set up/support and monitor child protection help desks to identify, support and refer children with protection concerns.
    • Monitor and assess the implementation of the program, ensuring that case workers are using the case management forms consistently and correctly.
    • Ensure quality and timely registration of recovered abductees and at-risk children including UASC.
    • Ensure all data from the case management are kept confidential and only shared on a need-to-know bases and in accordance with case management SoP.
    • Perform other functions related to GBV prevention and response including establishment and management of complaints and feedback mechanism.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Experience of working in Nigeria on Education or protection response.
    • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with children in conflict affected communities.
    • Fluency in English and excellent writing skills.
    • Strong analytical, reporting, strategic thinking and planning skills.

    Meal Officer

    The following defines the roles and responsibilities of the MEAL officer.

    • Collect information on progress of each activity of a project being implemented and enter the information into database.
    • Provide support in establishing and updating a MEAL tracking database.
    • Provide assistance in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning data collection, and data delivery.
    • Assist in analyzing and compiling data to measure the progress and impact of projects’ activities.
    • Participate in and coordinate the timely collection and analysis of all program performance data and success stories.
    • Provide day to day verifying data quality and ensure all data is input into database platform and analyzed in an integrity manner.
    • Develop and maintain a data management system using Excel, Access, or other data management and analysis software.
    • Develop and maintain database backup and filing systems.
    • Undertake visits to the field throughout the project, as needed to support data collection or verify data quality.
    • Prepare reports of project data, as required for reporting.
    • Collate and submit data on 5Ws for relevant sectors.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Experience of working in Nigeria on Education or protection response.
    • Bachelor’s degree, diploma or its equivalent preferably with science subjects
    • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with children in conflict affected communities.
    • Fluency in English and excellent writing skills.
    • Strong analytical, reporting, strategic thinking and planning skills.
    • Fair monitoring and evaluation skills/experience.
    • Knowledge of project cycle management.

    Office Driver (Maiduguri)

    • The employee serves as a Driver for the Office.
    • The Driver reports to the Operation Officer 
    • Carries out driving duties as instructed or authorized.
    • Checks daily vehicle schedule for the office (missions, transport needs), prepares necessary plans/arrangements, and reports on changes.
    • Maintains the relevant forms (Vehicle Ledger and Vehicle Fuel Forms) and submits them as required.
    • Ensures that the vehicle(s) allocated are checked daily (Monday to Friday) concerning fuel, water, oil, and other fluids, tyre pressure, and any damage/ repair requirements (which are to be reported to Administration for action).
    • Ensures that allocated vehicles are kept clean and the interiors tidy.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Valid driving license.
    • Demonstrable driving skills.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Basic routine maintenance and vehicle handling skills.
    • Willingness to be flexible and prepared to contribute to CASFOD in other duties as required.
