    Principal

    Job Description

    • The Principal is required to provide effective leadership and management in order to create an environment that promotes academic excellence, student well-being and a positive school community.
    • The Principal's role in a full boarding school is multi-faceted, involving educational leadership, student support, community engagement, management, and strategic planning.
    • The successful candidate will be expected to possess strong academic credentials, an ability to motivate and innovate as well as developing staff to secure highly effective teaching and learning.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Lead and coordinate strategic initiatives that drive academic progress and foster exemplary pastoral care.
    • Actively promote the health and wellbeing of all students and staff, ensuring the school aligns with safeguarding policies and procedures.
    • Provide leadership to the Academic Team towards establishing and sustaining high-quality, expert teaching across all subjects and phases, ensuring a broad, structured and coherent curriculum which is continually assessed for its impact on learning and progress.
    • Ensure a rigorous focus on student achievement, using data and assessment tools to monitor their progress, challenge underachievement and ensure students and staff fulfil their potential.
    • Utilise data-driven insights to inform decision-making and shape academic strategies, overseeing the presentation of regular reports to the school leadership team and the Board, detailing academic performance, areas for improvement and strategic recommendations.
    • Providing strategic leadership of school staff, ensuring that there are well-developed performance management systems in place to maintain and enhance expected achievement standards.
    • Embody ethical leadership and manage staff with empathy and kindness, overcoming disadvantage, advancing equality and ensuring staff have access to high-quality, sustained professional development opportunities.
    • Along with the Director of Administration, ensure budgets are being adhered to, reviewed and exercise strategic, curriculum-led financial planning to ensure the equitable deployment of budgets and resources in the best interests of students’ achievements and the school’s sustainability.
    • Ensure the school maintains excellent relations with parents, internal and external stakeholders, other schools, partner organisations and the local community; building the reputation of the school to ensure it is represented positively at all times.

    Minimum Eligibility Requirements

    • Qualified teacher with 15 years plus teaching experience (10 of which must be at Secondary School level).
    • Experienced School Leader with at least 7 years of leadership experience at a high standard British international school (at least at Vice-Principal (Academics), Deputy Head, Director of Studies level).
    • Minimum of a Post Graduate Degree and recognised Teacher Training Qualification.
    • Experience in leading a school with the British National curriculum at secondary level and a track record of student attainment at IGCSEs.
    • Well-grounded in the use technology for the workplace and for effective learning delivery.
    • Strategic ability to translate the vision of the school into clear objectives that promote and sustain school improvement.
    • Comfortable with managing transformational change and driving change initiatives in order to elicit measurable positive outcomes.
    • Holding a National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) or its equivalent will be a distinct advantage but NOT a mandatory requirement.
    • Right to work in Nigeria (this is a local contract and does not attract an expatriate quota).

    Director of Administration

    Job Description

    • They are currently inviting applications from highly skilled senior leaders with proven experience managing the daily operations of an organisation.
    • As a member of the school leadership team, the Director of Administration plays a pivotal role in overseeing the operating activities of the school, ensuring the smooth functioning of administrative processes and the overall success of the school.
    • This position requires strong leadership, outstanding organisational skills, thorough understanding of organisational management as well as proven track record in executing operational excellence.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Provide strategic direction and leadership in all administrative areas of the school. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the administrative office, ensuring efficient and effective workflow.
    • Develop and implement administrative policies, procedures, and guidelines to promote smooth functioning and compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure that all school facilities are in good condition, managed and supported in an efficient and timely manner. Oversee the maintenance and utilisation of school facilities, including classrooms, boarding houses, recreational areas, and administrative spaces.
    • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the provision of necessary resources, equipment, and services and deliver an efficient and financially prudent programme of procurement and replenishment of all school supplies.
    • Monitor and enforce safety and security protocols to ensure the well-being of students and staff.
    • Lead the organisation of extracurricular activities, school trips, events, and programs that contribute to students’ personal growth, social interaction, and skill development.
    • In conjunction with the Principal and Head HR, responsible for the entire employee life cycle within the organisation.
    • Supervise and support administrative staff, including their performance evaluation, professional development; fostering a positive and supportive work environment that encourages staff engagement and productivity.
    • Collaborate with the finance department to oversee the school's financial processes, including budgeting, expenditure control, and reporting. Ensure proper management reports and adherence to financial policies and procedures on administrative expenses.
    • In conjunction with the school’s leadership team establish effective communication channels and provide timely and accurate information to students and parents in relation to pastoral matters, student progress and school policies, address concerns inquiries, and monitor and respond to feedback from students and parents in a professional and timely manner.
    • Support the Principal in the promotion of the school to prospective parents and students. Seek out opportunities to raise the school’s profile locally, regionally, and nationally by ensuring the school’s representation and participation at key events and initiatives.

    Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in in any field of study but a degree in education administration, business administration, management or a related field will be an advantage (Master’s degree preferred).
    • At least 10 years of experience in Administration, with at least 5 years heading the administrative function in a corporate, structured organisational setting. Experience within an educational setting will be a distinct advantage.
    • Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
    • Excellent organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
    • Knowledge of educational regulations, policies, and procedures will be an advantage.
    • Familiarity with financial management and budgeting processes.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
    • High level of integrity and professionalism.

    Vice Principal - Pastoral

    Job Description

    • Leadership and management of the Pastoral and Safeguarding functions of the school.

    • As the school Designated Safeguarding Lead, has primary responsibility for the health, safety, physical, emotional, social and mental wellbeing of the students.
    • Overall responsibility for pastoral tracking and student progress monitoring. Monitor and analyse student assessment data wholistically to highlight areas of concern, identify areas of improvement and recommend appropriate interventions to enhance student emotional wellbeing and learning outcomes.
    • Oversee the behaviour management procedures within the school, enforcing positive and professional culture within a disciplined environment.
    • Play an active role in supporting the wider life of the school through organisation of students‘ extracurricular activities, school trips, events, and programmes that contribute to students’ personal growth, social interaction and skill development. Collaborating with colleagues and other agencies to promote the academic, spiritual, moral, social, emotional, and cultural well-being of students and their families.
    • Supervise and support boarding house, kitchen, laundry, counselling, and medical staff, including their performance evaluation, professional development; fostering a positive and supportive work environment that encourages staff engagement and productivity.
    • In conjunction with the school’s leadership team establish effective communication channels and provide timely and accurate information to students and parents in relation to pastoral matters, student progress and school policies, address concerns inquiries, and monitor and respond to feedback from students and parents in a professional and timely manner.
    • Create and maintain an effective partnership with parents and carers to support and improve students’ achievement and personal development.

    Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

    • A relevant first degree. The possession of a Post Graduate Degree in Child Psychology or related discipline will be an added advantage.
    • Evidence of successful leadership (as a Head of Year, Housemaster or Pastoral Lead) within a high standard international school and previous experience in a boarding or residential environment working with young people.
    • An excellent understanding of statutory safeguarding and child protection requirements.
    • A good grounding in the National Minimum Boarding Standards (NMBS) and a school’s statutory care obligations for 11–18 year olds.
    • Experience of promoting positive relationships between staff, parents, governors and the community.
    • Grounded understanding of an inclusive approach to teaching and the meeting of students additional learning and developmental needs.
    • An approachable and relatable demeanour; exhibiting strong interpersonal, decision-making skills, a high level of responsibility and competence in working with students and staff.
    • Outstanding organisational and administrative skills with excellent IT and communication skills.
