    Pastry Chef / Cook

    Job Description

    • The Pastry Chef/Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, baking, and presenting a wide range of meals, pastries, desserts, and baked products in accordance with the company’s quality standards.
    • The role requires creativity, attention to detail, excellent culinary skills, and strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
    • The successful candidate will ensure efficient kitchen operations, proper inventory management, and consistent delivery of high-quality food and bakery products.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare and cook a variety of local and continental dishes.
    • Prepare, bake, and decorate cakes, pastries, breads, cookies, desserts, and other baked products.
    • Ensure all meals and baked items meet established quality, taste, and presentation standards.
    • Develop and introduce new recipes and menu items where required.
    • Follow standardized recipes, portion control, and production schedules.
    • Ensure timely preparation and delivery of customer orders.
    • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, bakery, equipment, and workstations.
    • Ensure proper handling, storage, and preservation of food and baking ingredients.
    • Monitor stock levels and prepare inventory and requisition reports.
    • Minimize food wastage and ensure cost-effective use of ingredients.
    • Inspect ingredients to ensure freshness and quality.
    • Operate kitchen and bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
    • Comply with all food safety, health, and hygiene regulations.
    • Supervise or assist junior kitchen staff where necessary.
    • Report equipment faults and maintenance needs promptly.
    • Perform any other duties assigned by Management.

    Requirements
    Educational Qualification:

    • Minimum of SSCE / WAEC / NECO.
    • Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry, Hospitality Management, or a related field is an added advantage.
    • Relevant food safety or hygiene certification is desirable.

    Experience:

    •  2–5 years of relevant experience as a Cook, Pastry Chef, or in a similar role.
    • Experience in restaurants, hotels, bakeries, cafés, or hospitality establishments is preferred.
    • Proven ability to prepare both meals and baked products to a high standard.

    Other Requirements:

    • High level of integrity, professionalism, and reliability.
    • Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and shifts.
    • Strong commitment to cleanliness, quality, and customer satisfaction.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new culinary techniques.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

    Required Skills:

    • Excellent cooking and baking skills.
    • Strong knowledge of pastry production and food preparation techniques.
    • Creativity in food presentation and menu development.
    • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
    • Excellent attention to detail.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.
    • Inventory and stock management skills.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

    Remuneration

    • Salary: N70,000 - N200,000 per month.
    • Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
