    Legal Officer Advisory and Transaction Support

    • This is a great opportunity to join and grow with our legal team to support one of the largest and fastest-growing digital banks in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. The role will be dynamic and will leverage your commercial experience and familiarity with financial services. You will additionally provide company secretarial assistance to FairMoney.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Legal Advisory & Support: Drafting and reviewing legal documents, drafting agreements such as facility agreements, Service Level Agreements, etc. Review of Conditions Precedent (CPs), to ensure all drawdown documentation meets lender requirements.
    • Credit Disbursement & Securitization: Perfection of security, coordinate legal perfection of mortgages, charges, and debentures.
    • Legal Risk Management: Contractual risk identification, identify and escalate risk clauses in strategic documentation.
    • Litigation/Conflict Management: Engagement with external solicitors, brief solicitors, provide documentation, and liaise on litigation strategy.

    Requirements

    • Candidate must have at least 4 years of experience in a Financial Institution.
    • 4 years of relevant legal experience.
    • Knowledge of commercial, corporate, and financial laws.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Advisory skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
    • Proficiency in MS Office.

    Legal Officer - Litigation Support

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Litigation/Conflict Management: Management of Court Orders, ensure timely verification and processing of court orders (e.g., Garnishee, Mareva, Injunctive Relief).
    • Litigation/Conflict Management: Engagement with external solicitors, briefing solicitors, providing documentation, and liaising on litigation strategy.
    • Customer Legal Relations: Response to solicitor/customer complaints, draft and issue responses to legal complaints from solicitors representing customers.
    • Legal Administration: SLA and Contract Review, review SLAs, NDAs, and procurement/service contracts across business units.
    • Document Execution & Filing: Document execution and tracking, coordinate execution of legal documents.
    • Legal Recordkeeping: Maintenance of litigation schedule, maintain and update a live litigation tracker, including solicitor names, next hearing dates, and case summary.
    • Compliance & Governance: Perfection of Securities (support), follow-up on registry filings, and administrative support.

    Requirements

    • Candidate must have at least 3 years of experience in a Financial Institution.
    • 3 years of relevant legal experience.

    Legal Admin Staff (NYSC Intern)

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Finance & Payments: Legal invoice processing, process and track all external solicitor and court-related payments.
    • Legal Recordkeeping: Document archiving, maintain hard and soft copies of all agreements.
    • Security Management: Security Register Maintenance, maintain register of perfected legal and equitable securities.
    • Garnishee Compliance: Garnishee/Mareva Register, maintain register tracking all court orders involving account restrictions.
    • Mail & Dispatch: Legal correspondence tracking, track all incoming/outgoing mail, court documents, and courier dispatch.

    Requirements

    • Must have been called to the Nigerian Bar (Minimum of Second Class lower).
    • Currently enrolled in the NYSC program.
    • Must reside in Lagos.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong research, drafting. and writing skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong proficiency with work technology tools.
    • Knowledge of Corporate, Investment, Business Transactions, and Telecommunications laws.
    • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance matters.
