    Nurse

    General Purpose of the Position

    This role provides medical care, treatment and follows-up on patients according to set protocols and universal hygiene standards/precautions. Role-holder provides supportive supervision to volunteers, MoH staff, and ensures guidelines set in the health protocols are followed during the provision of medical care.

    Tasks and Main Responsibilities

    • Promotes and implement the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control,
    • security rules and other procedures in the medical premises and ensures safe working environment in the targeted HF and in the mobile clinic. Respecting medical secrets and confidentiality always.
    • Organizes out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, performing consultations and other minor medical procedures. Participating in health education of the patient (and family) when necessary.
    • Supervises administrative procedures and documents (fill in patient’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc.), and reports problematic situations and cases that may arise. Participating in data collection and keeping doctors/supervisors informed.
    • Oversees screening, treatment and follow up of malnourished patients in the field sites when required.
    • Leads the outreach & hygiene promotion team and guide community health volunteers on effective project implementation.
    • Participates in planning and undertaking health surveys, rapid assessments, as well as in the monitoring and evaluation of the health program activities. Provides inputs and data for monthly health activities’ reports.
    • Participates and updates progress in weekly technical meeting with health staff
    • Ensures accurate record keeping, ordering and accountability of health equipment, supplies and drugs.
    • Ensures the quality of the health service given in all different locations meet the expected standards.
    • Conducts trainings to build the capacity of staff/volunteers, MoH staff and the community at large
    • Performs other related duties within the clinic as may be assigned.

    Professional requirements

    • Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution (diploma in Nutrition will be and additional advantage)
    • At least 2 years post qualifying experience in a similar environment/Humanitarian context
    • Possession of a valid practicing certificate

    Mental Health Activity Manager

    General Purpose of the Position

    This role supervises the implementation and the development of all mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities in the project, ensuring that patients receive the most appropriate support and quality of care, from identification, treatment as well as referral to higher care for severe cases. S/he will be the focal point at the PHCC level for the clinical counselling and the capacity development on the psychological side at the health facility level, in charge of training and supervising heath staff. S/he also ensures reliable and accurate patient documentation and data are collected, shared and reported on according to standards.

    Tasks and Main Responsibilities

    • Identifies cases with mental or emotional disorders through patient screening at the facility level and ensures follow-up/monitoring of the referred cases (both internal and external).
    • Organizes programs to increase awareness around MHPSS and facilitates training to help team members (including CHEWs) identify and refer patients.
    • Collaborates with the Medical Activity Manager in organizing MH-Gaps training for all the health team and Community Health Volunteers.
    • Develops a referral pathway for patients in need of different level of MH care (for patients coming from the community, members of the other health team and actors)
    • Evaluates and assesses the psychological conditions of patients (affected with mild to moderate MH conditions) and engage in individual counselling using the WHO Problem Management Plus (PM+) in a culturally acceptable manner.
    • Trains other health staff in performing PM+, provide ongoing (weekly) on site clinical supervision to empower the staff to run consultations autonomously and in time
    • Refers patients (affected with severe MH conditions) to the GP; who takes charge in collaboration with the psychiatrist.
    • Performs regular clinical supervision of the staff performing counselling (one to one or group supervision, Client files review, Data review, In session observation, multi-disciplinary team meeting/case discussion).
    • Sets up the standard patient file, ensures it is updated regularly and kept according to confidentiality standards, whilst ensuring that the MH patient psychology records are kept separate from medical records.
    • Ensures a proper data collection system and establish a document progress on cases, maintaining strict protocols for confidentiality and consent, and ensures that date protection protocols are respected as well as all patient follow up files are well documented/protected.
    • Updates the MH database and shares monthly and quarterly report as per standard template whilst maintaining deadlines.
    • Participates in the MHPSS working group with the objective of sharing experiences, increases awareness on the type of program, and creates meaningful relationship with key actors.
    • Ensures that team members have clearly defined objectives, understands their objectives and responsibilities, and understands/implements NCD-MH program guidelines and protocols.
    • Provides technical and organizational support and trainings to the NCD-MH project staff.

    Professional requirements

    • University degree in Nursing, Clinical Psychology. Master’s degree in clinical psychology and or a psychiatric is an added advantage
    • Training in MH-Gap, training in WHO Problem management Plus PM+ is desirable.
    • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, including at least one year in NGO providing similar services.
    • Possession of a valid practicing certificate

    NCD Activity Manager

    General Purpose of the Position

    The Non-Communicable Disease Activity manager will be responsible for leading, supervising and monitoring the Integration of NCD-MH in the primary health package being implemented by the INTERSOS Health Team with the aim of attaining delivery of high-quality medical care for patients, as well as to vastly improve the health condition of the target population.

    Tasks and Main Responsibilities

    • Provides technical support and supervision to curative staff in targeted LGAs to ensure al the activities foreseen in relation to NCD patients are implemented and are in line with the project standard guidelines and tools., including but not limited to patient identification, patient education, record keeping and respecting confidentiality.
    • Leads in the implementation of the NCD integration in the different INTERSOS locations, according to the standard programmatic guidance and monitoring tools.
    • Ensures supervision of data collection and the monitoring tools for NCD (NCD database, monthly data sheet) are well known by all medical staff, compiled correctly and shared with the MAM in a timely manner.
    • Collaborates in the monitoring of current activities/availability of needed materials and assistance in NCD-MH data collection.
    • Prepares the weekly/Monthly data compilation and reporting according to the agreed template, and ensures the submission of NCD training and weekly NCD Activity report.
    • Ensures that team members respect INTERSOS and national protocols and guidelines by all members of the medical team and supervise the provision of medical care to the program population according to updated MoH protocols and programmatic guidance.
    • Ensures that team members have clearly defined objectives, understands their objectives and responsibilities, and understands/implements NCD-MH program guidelines and protocols.
    • Provides technical and organizational support and trainings to the NCD-MH project staff.
    • Reports on progress and challenges in relation to the NCD integration process
    • Professional requirements
    • Bachelor’s university degree in either medicine, public health or any related field.
    • 5(five) years of relevant professional work experience in public health with Background/familiarity with Emergency.
    • Possession of a valid practicing certificate/license.
