    Field Site Coordinator

    FIELD SITE: ASKIRA UBA LGA

    Job Summary:

    The primary function of the Field Site Coordinator is to provide leadership and overall day to day management of IMC activities in Askira Uba LGA. Together with Program Director, Nutrition Coordinator, Health Coordinator and program staff, he/she participates in defining intervention priorities, develop necessary contacts and relationships with government, non-government, donors and UN agencies at the field level; Contribute to the development of strategies and manage existing programs and resources, and provide day to day supervision, management and coaching to a wide team of IMC staff in Askira Uba LGA. Ensure that IMC programs deliver the highest level of quality of nutrition services and health services in line with national and international guidelines. Report any security issue and ensure all IMC internal procedures are followed-up.

    Main responsibilities:

    Internal Coordination and Program Management:

    • Ensures that program needs at the field site are met with adequate operations support through regular meetings with Nutrition and Health project staff, Finance-Administration, Human Resources, and Procurement.
    • Overall management of the day-to-day nutrition and nutrition-integrated program activities
    • Supervise and support the outreach team to implement quality community mobilization for successful outcome of the CMAM program.
    • Coordinate the various program components by ensuring a strong link between Community Outreach, OTP, SC and IYCF
    • Conduct joint supportive supervision and capacity assessment of OTP sites with State and LGA nutrition focal persons and incorporate the finding to the monthly progress report.
    • Follow up on management of nutrition stocks with the storekeeper/ Pharmacy Officer; monitor rates of consumption and ensure supplies are ordered in a timely manner.
    • Prepare monthly progress reports and statistic reports and an end-of-project final report for submission to the Nutrition Coordinator
    • Ensure all IMC-supported health facilities in Askira Uba LGA are equipped with all necessary tools and materials for nutrition and Health programming.
    • Facilitate delivery of stipends and other payments to the respective Community Nutrition Volunteers (CNMs).
    • Participate in program activity planning, implementation, strategy, needs assessment, meetings, etc.
    • Ensure staff training and capacity building as necessary to meet the needs of implementing programs.
    • Logistics management (with technical support from Supply Chain Coordinator, field logistics staff to ensure that IMC logistics procedures are implemented and respected
    • Finance/HR/Admin management: with technical support from finance Director and HR Coordinator, to ensure that IMC finance and HR procedures are implemented and respected.
    • Submit regular cash requests and forecasts based on activity needs.
    • Coordinate with budget holders and Finance/Admin unit to ensure adequate support for program operations.
    • Ensure that field finance/admin implement appropriate accounting, cash management, salary payments, HR procedures and file other administrative issues.
    • Participates in Budget/ Pipeline management meetings for the nutrition activities.

    Coordination and Representation:

    • Responsible for IMC representation in the field site and general coordination
    • Ensure IMC’s programming approach is known and correctly understood by all stakeholders at field level including by pro-actively liaise and build good rapport with INGO, UN, local authority officials, community representatives, and any other relevant stakeholders in the field contributing to shaping the overall Nutrition strategy of the NE Nigeria response.
    • Ensure that information from coordination meetings is shared internally and with other sectors, as appropriate.
    • Ensures reporting and liaison to local authorities, as needed.
    • Supervise national staff at field level.
    • Provide oversight support and guidance to staff and ensure IMC’s programming approach is known and correctly understood by all stakeholders at field level.

    Security Management:

    • With technical support from the Security Coordinator and Country Director, ensure that security procedures are implemented.
    • Take necessary security steps to ensure site and staff safety.
    • Monitor security on each day including evaluations.
    • Ensure external liaison with main actors but also develop an information diversified network.
    • Validate all staff and logistics movements between bases.

    Staff Management:

    • Supervise the operational staff to ensure that work is done properly and efficiently.
    • Provide appropriate and timely feedback to nutrition program staff regarding their performance.
    • Routinely monitor staff performance according to their job description and set objectives.
    • Evaluation and appraisal of staff through the IMC Performance Management.

    Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Reporting: 

    • Integrate MEAL approaches and activities into Nutrition program plans and operations, outlining how MEAL will be implemented at each stage of the program cycle.
    • Support country MEAL team in establishing MEAL system, data collection tools, and a formal mechanism to capture, monitor, respond to and act on feedback and complaints from communities.
    • Ensure all staff and volunteers receive basic communication and complaint handling skills training.
    • Ensure the Nutrition staff know how to receive, record, and refer (to the CBFRM) feedback and complaints should they be approached by a member of the community.
    • Ensure Nutrition staff know how to provide basic informed consent (explaining what happens to feedback/complaint, timeline, how they can contact IMC, how/when they should receive a response from IMC, rights/limitations regarding anonymous complaints, etc.).
    • Based on findings, lessons, feedback and assessment data generated from MEAL system, identify and utilize the best approaches to provide communities with relevant and actionable lifesaving and life-enhancing activities and information.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in management studies (Public Health, Business Administration, Project Management, Social Science, Social Works and Administration, International Development, Public Health),
    • Working experience in managing Nutrition, Health, WASH and GBV projects is desirable.
    • At least 2 years’ experience in coordinating, implementing and programs in emergency contexts and/or refugee or IDP settings.
    • Experience in technically supervising staff in a complex setting.
    • Ability to validate and interpret data.
    • Demonstrated ability to support and build staff capacity.
    • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member.
    • Fluency in English.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • High level of communication and public relations skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft office packages.

    Pharmacy Assistant

    FIELD SITE: Maiduguri

    JOB SUMMARY: 

    • The primary function of the pharmacy Assistant is to assist the Medical Commodities team in distribution and tracking of medical commodities required by supported health facilities.
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation:

    MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist on preparation of monthly pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities distribution plan and update as needed and make sure it is clearly communicated to concerned parties
    • Assist on shipment documents and follow through to collect signatures and finalize record keeping
    • Compile data and submit timely reports including but not limited to weekly and monthly reports
    • Work in coordination with the Warehouse teams and logistics in all sites to facilitate accuracy of documentation and tracking of timely deliveries to health facilities
    • Work with field medical officers and health facility directors in supported health facilities to get feedbacks, requests and delivery confirmations for all pharmaceuticals and other medical commodities as required

    Midwives

    FIELD SITE: Gwoza and Askira uba

    Main Purpose

    • Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow-up before, during, and after delivery, according to IMC obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and under the supervision of a specialist doctor, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.

    Job Description

    • Ensure the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care (BEmONC and CEmONC), neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, reproductive tract infections in accordance with IMC Reproductive Care Package.
    • Collaborating with the medical doctor and /or nurse in the management of Sexual Violence cases
    • Assessing the feasibility of referral of pregnant women from the TBAs to the OPD/MCH.
    • Ensuring hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met according to IMC specifications.
    • Performing cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
    • Guaranteeing a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders.
    • Ensuring patients' right to privacy and confidentiality is respected Supervising administrative procedures of admissions and hospitalizations
    • According to IMC protocols, Manage obstetric emergencies.
    • Supervises the use of drugs, facilities and obstetric material Provide quality of care for OPD and in patient management, proper health education and collaborate with another department.
    • Manage all obstetrical emergency cases according to protocol.
    • Conduct normal deliveries independently Ensure daily data quality on ANC, admission, delivery, PNC, family planning, OPD & discharge registration, proper documentation of referral cases, and strengthen linkages
    • Ensure nutritionally at-risk infant and their mothers also receive mental health and health promotion support (targeted to the infant developmental age) as part of a holistic approach to inpatient nutritional care and treating the infant and mother as one unit.
    • Support mothers/wet nurse mothers in proper positioning, attachments, duration, and frequency of feeding, effective suckling as well as double suckling.

    Requirements

    • Education: Essential- General Nursing & Midwifery Certificate.
    • Experience: Desirable: Clinical work experience of at least two (2) years as a professional midwife.
    • Essential-General Nursing & Midwifery Certificate; Valid License from Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria required
    • Language: English and Hausa Languages are mandatory
    • Knowledge: Essential computer literacy (word, excel, and Internet);

    Care Group Supervisor

    FIELD SITE: Damboa

    Job Summary

    The incumbent will be responsible for the overall implementation of IYCF and CMAM and MAM treatment with Tom Brown in collaboration with other nutrition and SMOH staff and integration with other programs. S/He will facilitate good practice and ensure compliance to applicable implementation of national CMAM guidelines.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Supervise the community health promoters to ensure they undertake their duties in accordance with the IMC policies and standards.
    • Supporting targeting of beneficiaries; formation and establishment of Care groups; selection of community volunteers and members of community structures.
    • Plan and supervise CG session biweekly
    • Participate in engagement session with the community leaders.
    • Provide and document One-on-One and group IYCF counselling at the facility during OTP activities and at the community level.
    • In collaboration with the Senior Nutrition Officer, CHPs, CG volunteers plan and carryout cooking demonstration activity at the community level
    • Provide One-on-One Nutrition counselling to newly enrolled/discharged OTP beneficiaries
    • Supervise the activity of the CG volunteers and CHPs at the community level
    • Complete and review completed QIVC and supervision check list with CHPs after every CG session and at the community level, and submit to the Nutrition Officer quarterly
    • Identify and follow to monitor progress of some IYCF beneficiaries within the community
    • Monitor and supervise MNP supplementation at the OTPs to ensure adherence to the National protocol.  
    • Providing appropriate nutrition counselling and health education to the mothers and caregivers in the SC based on the protocols and guidelines.
    • Review the flip chart lesson plan with CHPs on biweekly basis to ensure they understand the information well and can teach back the information in a participatory manner.
    • Timely collection and submission of all CHPs reports biweekly and monthly
    • Review and ensure correct completion of Family MUAC tools-training and screening portion
    • In collaboration with the CHPs provide on the job training on Family MUAC approach for the CG volunteers
    • Support the lead mothers and CNMs on Tom Brown supplementation
    • Facilitate Micronutrient supplementation at the OTP sites with Micronutrient Powder (MNP)
    • Other responsibility as deemed necessary by supervisor

    • Excellent report-writing skills
    • Fluent in written and spoken English and Hausa, while Marghi would be an added advantage
    • Commitment to and understanding of IMC’s aims, values and principles.

    Key Competencies:

    • Strong communication skills: oral, written and presentation skills.
    • Should be a team player and culturally sensitive.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, email and utilization of the internet
