    Technical Lead

    Role Summary 

    Câm is looking for a self-starter that is committed and passionate about our ambition to build a universally profitable pastoralist-centred dairy industry in Nigeria. Our mission is to provide a massive income boost for our pastoralist suppliers. You will be responsible for managing and supporting our technical operations to increase productivity through the implementation of sustainable, climate-smart innovative livestock management practices. The role combines the need for strategic thinking and planning towards productivity, resilience and reduction of GHG emissions, as well as the day-to-day process and people management necessary for success in a rapidly evolving environment. The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about food and agriculture and motivated by opportunities to transform bold and ambitious ideas into actionable, impactful strategies that result in delivering an income boost for pastoralists. 

    As our Technical Lead, you will be responsible for implementing all aspects of livestock management practices, including animal nutrition and health. You will support our pastoralists as they transition from traditional methods to more modern and sustainable systems. 

    You will report directly to the Chief Animal Expert.

    Responsibilities include: 

    • Outreach, advocacy, relationship development and management to ensure that Câm sustains the support and engagement of pastoralists, community members and leaders

    • Ensuring Câm meets its supply targets by boosting the productivity of milking cows at optimal costs

    • Working with crop farmers, feed manufacturers, nutritionists, veterinarians and vaccine manufacturers to meet the needs of our pastoralists and their animals.

    • Training and educating pastoralists on animal health, nutrition, milk safety and hygiene practices that are informed by climate-smart approaches

    • Examining animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases, illnesses and injuries and providing guidance and advice on remedies.

    • Carrying out diagnostic tests, including the collection of samples and interpreting the test results.

    • Assisting  the Chief Animal Expert in designing and implementing projects, field trials and pilots work, which includes data collection and statistical analysis

    • Training and monitoring field officers on the implementation of interventions and extension activities

    Requirements

    • BSc Degree in animal production, veterinary sciences or any related field;

    • A Master’s degree in a related field is a plus.

    • Relevant experience in feed production and animal breeding technical assistance programmes or projects;

    • A good working experience of at least 3 years handling and working with animals.

    • Experience managing dispersed field teams.

    • Experience in rural or development-related activities (agricultural sector preferred).

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

    • Languages: Fluency in English and Hausa (Fulfulde is a strong advantage).

    Responsibilities:

    • Contributing to strategic decision-making, business planning, and organisational development.

    • Rigorously monitoring and analysing field data to understand the business' performance and continuously implement data-driven improvements; distilling internal and external data/research into actionable insights, opinions, and recommendations.

    • Developing and effectively implementing internal systems, business processes, SOPs, and organisational policies and procedures that ensure efficient and effective operations. This includes reviewing, improving, and continuing to codify our existing operating standards into a rock-solid playbook that allows us to scale.

    • Promoting the identification and adoption of established best practices, whilst creating an environment that encourages the implementation of creative solutions.

    • Planning, managing and coordinating all activities related to the replenishment of raw materials to meet the changing levels of product demand

    • Developing, managing and coordinating logistics and distribution of finished products (in-house and with 3PLs and fulfillment partners) with a focus on operational excellence, cost management, proactively monitoring performance and daily execution to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders and excellent customer service.

    • Reconciling of inventory in collaboration with the Finance and Accounting and Factory Operations teams.

    Finance Manager

    Role Summary:

    Câm is looking for a Finance Manager who will be responsible for the planning and managing of the finance department and all its operations. This person will perform a combination of budgeting, accounting, fiscal management, financial reporting, internal auditing and financial data processing functions. 

    A key part of this role is having in-depth knowledge, experience and expertise in corporate financial accounting, an understanding of what it takes to work in a rapidly evolving start-up environment, having the mindset of a self-starter and the ability to roll up your sleeves to get the work done if and when necessary.   

    You will be responsible for the financial health of the organization, mentoring and coaching direct reports to perform efficiently while diligently following the standard accounting processes of the organization and the regulations provided by the government, guiding management in making sound financial decisions through analysis and insights of the internal and external factors that could lead to the generation of ROI for the organization and the ability to work with and manage various departments and people.

    The ideal candidate should be able to use relevant accounting and data analysis tools/software, communicate effectively (verbal and written), have great leadership and interpersonal skills, be great with numbers and have continuous up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and accounting government regulations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Preparation of various accounting reports, financial statements, budgets, cost analyses, rate studies and projections.

    • Prepare and review detailed financial analysis to illustrate key business drivers, performance indicators, identify engagement risk, and determine the appropriate financial strategies to get desired results.

    • Manage and coordinate the preparation of the company’s budget while working with all departments to ensure their yearly and monthly budgets are accurately computed.

    • Work with internal and external accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

    • Build and maintain positive working relationships with other departmental Heads/Leads, other departments, outside agencies, vendors and state and federal auditors.

    • Manage and oversee operations of the finance department to meet set goals and objectives. 

    • Developing and effectively implementing internal systems, business processes, SOPs, and organisational policies and procedures that ensure efficient and effective operations in finance. 

    • Manage and coach an accounting team that is able to exhibit to a great depth of the organization’s values, culture and show continuous growth in personal, departmental and organizational development. 

    • Up to date knowledge of industry standards for corporate finance administration, budget preparation and management, financial reporting, forecasting and financial analysis.

    • Display in-depth understanding and application of leading practices in governance concerning finance in the workplace.
