    Translation and Transcription Consultant

    RCCE subnational Consultants – Transcription and Translation

    Background

    Breakthrough Action Nigeria (BA-N) is a USAID-funded Social Behaviour Change (SBC) and Risk Communication Project with the goal of increasing the practice of priority individual and household level health behaviors in target states on Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health plus Nutrition (MNCH+N), Family Planning (FP), Malaria, Tuberculosis, and Risk Communication and Community engagement (RCCE) for COVID and Priority Infectious diseases (Lassa fever, Monkey Pox). Firmly grounded in proven practices, Breakthrough ACTION works in partnership with governments, civil society, and communities around the world to implement creative and sustainable SBC programming, nurture SBC champions, mainstream new techniques, and technologies, and advocate strategic and sustained investment in SBC.

    Scope of Work

    The consultant will work closely with Breakthrough ACTION-Nigeria RCCE technical staff to

    • Translate and transcribe audio from Hausa to English.
    • Prepare a translated scripts in English to each question using the assessment tool.

    Deliverables:

    • Translated scripts (written in English) of all interviews (FGDs, KIIs and IDIs) conducted.

    Minimum Qualifications & Skills

    • Experience translating and transcribing audio, written, and visual services for health-related development projects.
    • Fluency in Hausa language (Spoken and written)
    • Access to translating and transcribing tools to accomplish the services listed.
    • Provision of at least 2 samples of previous work.
    • Ability to mobilize resources and deliver within specified timeline.

    Period of engagement: 2 weeks (January 20 to February 10, 2023)

    Total number of days: 15 days

    Supervision: Senior Program Officer (RCCE-RMEL).

    Number required: 4 Translators

    Payment Terms.

    Please state your payment terms while quoting. However, Breakthrough ACTION-Nigeria’s preferred term is full payment after receipt of goods & services, when all invoices have been received and products have been certified.

    Breakthrough ACTION-Nigeria is VAT exempt, so please do not include VAT fees when quoting.  Also note that Breakthrough ACTION-Nigeria will deduct withholding tax at 10% from the total value, to be remitted to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). Payment will be made after submission of vendor invoice and acceptance/certification of items by Breakthrough ACTION-Nigeria.

    Qualitative Analysis Consultant

    Scope of Work

    The consultant will work closely with Breakthrough ACTION-Nigeria RCCE technical staff to conduct thematic qualitative analysis on translated scripts.

    Deliverables:

    • Content analysis of all translated scripts with identified themes on gaps and areas.
    • Provide recommendation and conclusion of all findings in a summarized format with identification of relevant literature to support the findings.

    Minimum Qualifications & Skills

    • Five years of more experience conducting qualitative analysis for health-related development projects.
    • Ability to conduct literature review on specified theme
    • Fluency in English language (Spoken and written)
    • Ability to use qualitative tools like NVivo or ATLAS.ti or other Research Text tool
    • Provision of at least 2 samples of previous work.
    • Ability to mobilize resources and deliver within specified timeline.

    Period of engagement: 3 weeks (January 27 to February 17, 2023)

    Total number of days: 15 days

    Supervision: Senior Program Officer (RCCE-RMEL).

    Number required: 2 Qualitative analysts

    Finance Assistant I

    Summary

    The Finance Assistant I under the direct supervision of Senior Finance Officer II and technical guidance from the Finance and Admin Director will assist the finance team in performing routine finance tasks and helping program staff on finance related needs were necessary.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Raise day to day payment vouchers as required
    • Ensures that all supporting documents are available and attached to the payment vouchers
    • Ensure effective handling of office petty cash
    • Assist in the posting of financial transactions on QuickBooks
    • Ensure travel and activity advances from the field offices are retired timeously
    • Ensure all vouchers are serially numbered and stamped paid
    • Ensure proper filling and archival of finance documents for easy retrieval
    • Make payments to participants for meetings and workshops
    • Support the unit with maintaining heathy cashflow across the states
    • Support with budgetary function and provide guidance to various units on budget lines and budget implementation
    • Ensure proper photocopying and scanning of monthly payment vouchers
    • Support the Finance Officer in submission of PAYE and Withholding Tax Cheques
    • Ensure the safe receipt, handling and banking of Staff retirements funds
    • Support the state team with finance related field activities
    • Backstop for the Finance Officer when necessary
    • Complete other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications & Experience

    Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field. Minimum of 1 - 2 years working experience with a donor funded project, Knowledge and experience of USAID regulations is a plus. Experience using QuickBooks, Ms. Office packages especially Ms. Excel is required.

    Languages Skills

    Must be fluent in English.
