    Field Team Leader

    Job Objective:

    Lead the regional Field Engineer team, to provide field support, resolve escalated incidents and assigned problems, maintain the WIOCC PoP Network. To be acknowledged as the regional field expert within the company.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage 24/7 regional field team, escalation / on-call
    • Manage PoP facilities and data centre supplier management
    • Establish and manage field routine maintenance activities, comply with health & safety legislation
    • Lead problem resolution relating to field issues
    • Manage spares inventory, local records and data reconciliation with NetSuite
    • Network installation, testing & commissioning, bringing into service, integration
    • Network quality and performance management
    • Assist with creation of ad hoc reports as needed
    • Assist other departments and lead and report on projects
    • Adhere to, lead compliance with, and assist in developing company policies and procedures
    • Champion the development, use of and ensure data integrity of NetSuite
    • Innovate, report on and continually improve on operational and network KPIs
    • Service reporting excellence for both internal, clients and suppliers
    • Mentorship and training of regional field team on technical competency

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a technical field or relevant experience
    • Technical certifications CCNA or JNCIA, CCNP or JNCP (desirable) or equivalent

    Experience & Skills

    • Requires minimum of 5 years’ technical experience in telecom industry, with desirably at least 3 year in second level technical support or equivalent and desirably 2 year in a team leader role
    • Knowledge and experience including Fibre, OTN, DWDM / ROADM, SDH, Data (Ethernet, IP/MPLS, OSPF, BGP)
    • Knowledge in supporting equipment i.e., Mikrotik, Juniper, Tejas, Ciena etc
    • Experience in network monitoring tools e.g., Cacti, MRTG, PRTG etc
    • Must use B/OSS tools effectively to record information accurately and concisely in a timely manner
    • Ability to share knowledge and mentor other team members
    • Effective written and verbal communications skills evidenced by previous work history and accomplishments
    • Excellent communications and soft skills, including ability to listen to and summarize and concisely share key information with clients
    • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment

    Field Technician

    Job Objective

    Assist field support, resolve incidents, and assigned problems, install, maintain and manage network equipment.

    Reporting Line: Regional Operations Manager (Nigeria)

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • 24/7 field assistance, on-call
    • Proactive monitoring of equipment & facilities
    • Assist network installation, testing & commissioning, bringing into service, integration
    • Cross connects & jumping
    • Assist to maintain records, inventory, and spares
    • Assist to receive equipment, bench test, storage, and RMA return handling
    • Assist with incident and problem resolution as directed by NOC / TAC
    • Provide Service Desk cover as required
    • Assist with technical shareholder support / shareholder consultancy and sales support
    • Assist with network quality and performance management
    • Assist with creation of ad hoc reports as needed

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) in a technical field
    • Technical certifications i.e., CCNA or equivalent field experience (desirable)

    Experience & Skills

    • Requires 2 years of relevant work experience in telecom industry
    • Knowledge of platforms including OTN, DWDM, SDH, Data (Ethernet, IP/MPLS, OSPF, BGP).
    • Knowledge in supporting transmission and switching equipment from leading manufacturers. i.e., Mikrotik, Juniper, Tejas Networks etc.

    Field Technician (Facilities)

    Job Objective:

    Field technician to provide field support, resolve incidents, install, maintain, test and certification of facilities.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • 1st Level 24/7 field support, escalation / on-call, national and international travel as required
    • Proactive monitoring of equipment & facilities
    • Preventative Maintenance
    • Facility installation, testing & commissioning, bringing into service, integration
    • Facility repairs and upgrades in the office as requested/required.
    • Assist with telecom field support as required
    • Maintain records, inventory, and spares of materials
    • POC Testing of equipment in the lab as required.
    • Incident and problem resolution as directed by Operations/Facilities manager
    • Installation/Maintenance of existing electrical infrastructure in the field.
    • Routine audit of sites, identifying issues and implementing remediation
    • Assist with creation of ad hoc reports as needed
    • Assist other departments and lead and report on projects as requested

    Minimum Qualification

    • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a technical field or relevant experience

    Experience & Skills

    • Three years technical experience as a power technician with competent to inspect and repair electrical installations
    • Preferably telecoms Industry experience with knowledge in the Data centre style environment
    • Experience installing and maintaining AC (single and 3-phase) systems.  Experience with distribution boards and breakers, earthing & bonding requirements.  DC power installations & maintenance.  Installation & Maintenance of batteries, rectifiers, UPS and PDU units used in the Telecoms industry. 
    • Experience in installing and maintaining air conditioning units and environmental monitoring (an advantage)
    • Build out of data centre rooms including cabinets, racks, fibre trays and other supporting infrastructure – assisting RF teams
    • Experience in installation and maintenance of security systems including CCTV, door locks, fingerprint scanners, alarms and electric fences (an advantage)
    • Inspect and test fire systems, check for fire hazards, fire exits and fire extinguishers
    • Maintain equipment & PPE in good working order – with inspections of equipment as required
    • Experience of groundworks when laying cables
    • Must be computer literate to effectively record information/data accurately, concisely in a timely manner and  submit reports in a timely manner
    • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
    • Knowledge and experience in OHSA - health and safety file management, including covid-19 protocols
    • Qualified first aider, check first aid equipment
    • Effective written and verbal communications skills

    Activation Engineer

    To activate services on the WIOCC network and assist with network administration.

    Reporting Line: Network Administrator

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Implement network and service activations and restorations
    • Create service and network handover documentation
    • Ensure that the network diagrams are always up to date for all Network Layers (e.g. SDH, OTN, MPLS, DWDM)
    • Ensure that services and networks are handed over accurately and timeously to the NOC when fully operational
    • Maintain accurate records of networks and services on OSS/BSS systems
    • Plan and implement planned engineering works (PEWs) as required
    • Address issues raised by the NOC, related to service and network configurations
    • Develop, implement and operationalize standards and processes for activations, network records, service records and handover documentation
    • Maintain a backup for all configurations done on each of the network equipment
    • Assist with creation of ad hoc reports as needed
    • Actively use and ensure data integrity of OSS/BSS systems

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
    • Transmission Certifications - Ciena, Infinera, Tejas, Huawei
    • Minimum of 5 year’s technical experience in the telecom industry with at least 3 years in network provisioning/activation or similar role
    • Expert understanding of Transmission (DWDM, OTN, SDH) networks
    • Expert understanding of OSS/BSS tools for Transmission (DWDM, OTN, SDH) networks
    • Expert knowledge of Tejas, Infinera or Ciena products, NMS and provisioning
    • Strong analytical and numerical skills and able to collate and interpret data from various sources
    • Quick to understand technical issues and concepts
    • Expert in Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Effective written and verbal communications skills evidenced by previous work history and accomplishments
    • Excellent communications and presentation skills, including ability to summarize and concisely share key information to all levels within the organization
    • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
    • Willing to work outside of normal office hours

    Experience and Skills

    • Has developed and operationalized standards for activations of Transmission (DWDM, OTN, SDH) networks
    • Has automated provisioning/reporting of network services and capacity
    • Has implemented PNI/LNI systems for Transmission (DWDM, OTN, SDH) networks
    • Knowledge of relational databases and data querying languages
