    Innovation and Technology Lead

    Position Description:
    The Innovation and Technology Lead is an exciting new position at Slum2School for an individual who will create, manage and deliver cutting edge STEM education to underserved children, teenagers and youths from diverse backgrounds, developing them into world-class coders, innovators and STEM enthusiasts.
    He/ She will Lead the design and implementation of a cutting-edge STEM curriculum that brings coding, robotics, engineering, artificial intelligence and more to students daily as well as stand as a voice in bridging the digital gap between the high and low income demographics.

    Responsibilities

    • Teach computer science and technology to students between 6 to 24, from foundations of technology to software development.
    • Develop specific STEM education curriculum and teach it to various classes for children
    • between 6 to 24 years that could entail game programming, app programming, logic, robotics and critical thinking. Courses should be developmentally appropriate
    • and engaging with focus on providing solutions to community challenges.
    • Effectively manage the classroom and students by implementing discipline, time management, and organization consistent with school policy.
    • Manage and oversee the sustainability of the tech hub.
    • Engage and manage local and international volunteers from leading tech companies globally.
    • Work with industry experts and educators to engage and motivate the students regularly.
    • Develop training tools for teachers, mentors and volunteers to implement curriculum and evaluate results.
    • Evaluate and report progress to management and stakeholders to ensure maximum impact.
    • Oversee and develop new partnerships to increase output and impact.

    Minimum Qualifications and Criteria

    • Familiar with programming and high technology and has a strong interest to improve STEM knowledge
    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher and mastery of core subject.
    • Experience with at least one or more coding language: HTML, C++, Python, PHP or similar.
    • Excellent facilitator with the ability to motivate, direct, and train people and collaborate with others effectively and productively
    • Background or experience in teaching and/or education, preferably within elementary, secondary, tertiary school classrooms;
    • High level of motivation and Experience working with children.
    • Between 21 to 35 years old.
    • Self-motivated and self-directed.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
    • Strong moral background and value system.
    • Adaptability in dealing with change, delays or unexpected events.

    Chief Operating Officer

    The Chief Operations Officer is a dynamic and experienced leader, fluent in English and other Nigeria languages, with a proven track record in organizational development. He or she is comfortable operating in a multi-cultural, dynamic and flexible environment. He or She works creatively to develop and manage the organization’s human resources, business practices, fundraising and communications capacity. In collaboration with the ED, board and staff, the COO will play a key role in developing and implementing long term organizational plans and strategies, using vision, strong leadership and sound management to further the organization’s mission, impact and effectiveness.

    PROFILE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Proven experience as COO or similar role in managing high-performing teams of diverse individuals in a multi-cultural business or non-profit setting.
    • Experience and demonstrated comfort dealing with complex operating environments, comprising remote teams, challenging field conditions, and cultural and linguistic
    • diversity.
    • Strong experience in business management functions such as HR, finance, operating policies and procedures, etc.
    • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development.
    • Knowledge and experience of Nigerian education and development sector.
    • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics, SWOT analysis, etc.
    • Outstanding organizational, management and leadership abilities.
    • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
    • Ability to solve problems adaptively and creatively with patience, flexibility and strong sense of humor.
    • Passion for Slum2School’s mission, vision and goals.

    DUTIES

    • Oversee and administer the daily operations and supervise the work of relevant staff and team leaders.
    • Design and implement organizational strategies, plans and procedures.
    • Set and monitor comprehensive goals, and develop the systems that will drive an organizational culture of excellence, results and impact.
    • Help establish policies that promote the organization’s mission, culture and vision.
    • Motivate, mentor and assist staff to meet or surpass organizational goals.
    • Implement effective and efficient administrative and operational processes.
    • Help drive a culture of accountability and proactive donor and partner relations and reporting.
    • Assist the ED, relevant management staff and partners in communications, outreach and fundraising ventures.
    • Develop human resource policies and systems that contribute to employee performance, motivation and loyalty.
    • Help recruit skilled talent, keeping the best employees.
    • Undertake occasional regional travel to familiarization with projects, beneficiaries, team leaders and partners.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Proven experience as Chief Operating Office or relevant role
    • Understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, marketing etc.
    • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
    • Experience in fundraising will be a plus
    • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metric
    • Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and MS Office
    • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
    • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
    • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
    • BSc/BA in Business Administration or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus

    Executive Assistant

    The Executive Assistant is an experienced and effective individual who will provide valued administrative support for the Executive Director and also play an important organizational management role in support of the daily operations of the organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide administrative support for the Executive Director and liaise with management team.
    • Manage and support calendar and contact database ensuring efficient relationship management.
    • Support meetings and calls, including logistics, written materials, food, supplies
    • Coordinate meetings of the Board of Directors and its Committees
    • Plan travel and assemble expense reports.
    • Seek, identify and fulfill other opportunities to support ED & leadership team effectiveness
    • Support the running of the office
    • Order office supplies, including helping with vendor selection for quality, support, pricing
    • Monitor and maintain pantry supplies; manage petty cash
    • Monitor phones, emails and manage logistics
    • Support Human Resource functions.
    • Support recruiting efforts – placement of ads and monitoring of responses

    Qualifications:

    • 3 years of prior experience as an Executive Assistant
    • Bachelor’s degree in an administrative course is a plus.
    • Ability to work with diverse teams
    • Strong computer skills – a fast learner comfortable with tech. Current applications include: Microsoft Office suite and Google G Suite (Mail, Sheets, Docs, Calendar, etc.),
    • Salesforce, a range of online tools for banks, vendors, donors, and range of other apps and add-ons for organization, productivity, email, etc.
    • Good listener, insightful, takes initiative
    • Socially aware and savvy
    • A highly positive and collegial attitude is essential
