    Sustainability Decarbonisation Specialist

    The role is focused on managing Dangote Cement's greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). The Specialist is responsible for monitoring, analysing, and forecasting to ensure compliance with regulations, developing and implementing carbon reduction strategies, and preparing sustainability reports.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Assess and prioritise climate action strategies, specifically carbon emissions reduction, including energy efficiency enhancements, adoption of renewable energy sources, and implementation of carbon offsetting initiatives.
    • Coordinates the decarbonisation program, including training and adherence to the minimum requirements of reduction action plans and other actions of the plant decarbonisation working groups.
    • Utilize carbon accounting software and tools to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring data integrity and timely submission of ESG reports.
    • Develop and lead the implementation of comprehensive decarbonisation strategies aligned with organisational goals and industry best practices.
    • Support the Head of Sustainability in developing and implementing a Net Zero Roadmap and communicating progress on carbon reduction efforts.
    • Coordinate efforts to identify and secure external climate funding sources 9inclusing carbon credits) to implement decarbonisation initiatives and carbon offsets for all plants.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate decarbonisation considerations into business operations and ensure the operationalisation in technical functions to improve their sustainability performance
    • Prepare and present regular reports and presentations on decarbonisation progress, challenges, and recommendations.
    • Stay informed about emerging technologies, policies, and trends related to decarbonisation and advise senior management on potential opportunities and risks.
    • Assists management in implementing other sustainability tasks assigned.

    Requirements

    Education

    • Degree or equivalent in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field. A Master’s degree in related courses, such as Energy Sustainability, Renewable Energy would be an advantage.

    Desirable Criteria

    • Experience managing retrofit projects from inception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
    • Experience with GHG protocol, certified with ISO 14064 or ISO 14001
    • Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks effectively, and drive results in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

    Sustainability Specialist (Anglophone)

    Job summary:

    The position encompasses operations in English-speaking regions and is dedicated to overseeing the sustainability performance of Dangote Cement Plc.     Deputy General Manager, Mechanical (Power Plant)

    The Dangote Group is seeking a Deputy General Manager, Mechanical for its Power Plant operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical maintenance of the power plant and ensuring optimal performance and reliability of equipment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules for all plant equipment, including gas turbines, compressors, gas generators, gas compressors, DM plant, Chiller, cooling tower and auxiliary systems.
    • Plan and coordinate major overhauls, shutdowns, and inspections.

    Mechanical Hydraulic Specialist (Cement Industry)

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conducting feasibility studies, including trouble shooting and assessments, to determine the viability and potential impacts of hydraulic faults.
    • Collaborating with other engineers and professionals to develop comprehensive hydraulic designs and engineering plans in ensuring equipment reliability and optimization.
    • Identifying and evaluating potential risks and hazards associated with hydraulic systems, and implementing appropriate safety measures.
    • Performing hydraulic calculations, simulations, and modelling to predict the behaviour and performance of equipment’s.
    • Overseeing the construction and installation of hydraulic systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
    • Conducting inspections and assessments of existing hydraulic infrastructure, identifying maintenance or repair needs, and providing recommendations.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, including Hydraulics Training or a specialized course in Hydraulics, or a related field is required.
    • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is an advantage.
    • 15 years of experience in cement plant hydraulics Operation ,maintenance and Trouble Shooting.
    • Proven experience in hydraulic engineering, preferably in the design and maintenance of hydraulic systems.
    • Knowledge of study of Hydraulic Circuits /hydraulic Notations and Symbols relevant software and tools used in hydraulic engineering, such as AutoCAD, Microsoft office and SAP Module.
    • Strong mathematical and computational skills.
    • Familiarity with environmental impact assessment processes and regulations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience in project management and working with multidisciplinary teams.
    • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

    Sustainability Analyst

    Job Summary:

    The role is focused on monitoring, analyzing and forecasting sustainability performance of DCP operations, in particular providing in-depth reports on alternative energy issues. It monitors industry developments and undertakes specific actions and production-related technology, assessing sustainability implications for the business

    •  Assesses investment requirements and the costs of finding, developing, producing and delivering alternative energy sources.
    •  Analyses developments of energy demand, taking into consideration environment, alternative fuel substitution and the impact on the energy supply mix.

    Education

    Bachelor’s Degree or higher degree in Environmental Science, Forestry and Wildlife Management, Social Sciences or relevant Engineering discipline. Master’s Degree in Sustainable development, Energy Management or related courses would be an advantage

    Work Experience      

    • Working knowledge of Sustainability, Environmental science, Energy efficiency, Process Engineering, and Consulting in sustainability or ESG.
    • Interest in Sustainability Reporting using GRI or related global reporting frameworks such as the IFC, GHG protocol, CDP, TCFD etc.
    • Other related sustainability experience and certifications
