    Store Specialist, Mines

    Location: Obajana Plant, Kogi State

    Job Summary

    Dangote Cement is seeking a Store Specialist, Mines to oversee and control all store and inventory operations supporting mining and limestone activities at the Obajana Plant, ensuring uninterrupted availability of critical spares, consumables, and materials while maintaining strict inventory control, HSE compliance, cost efficiency, and asset protection.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Mines Stores Operations Management

    • Oversee receipt, storage, issuance, and control of all mining-related materials, spare parts, consumables, tools and PPE.
    • Ensure timely availability of critical spares for mining equipment such as dump trucks, excavators, drills, loaders, crushers, conveyors, and auxiliary equipment.
    • Manage on-site mine stores and satellite stores, ensuring proper layout, labelling and material segregation.
    • Coordinate inter-store transfers between plant stores and mine stores where
      applicable.
    • Supervise day-to-day receiving operations: offloading, checking, inspection, weighing, and acceptance of materials.

    Inventory Control & Optimization

    • Maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP system (SAP MM/WM or equivalent).
    • Define and monitor minimum, maximum, and critical stock levels for mining spares and consumables.
    • Conduct cycle counts, periodic stocktakes, and surprise checks; investigate and resolve variances.
    • Identify and manage slow-moving, obsolete, and surplus inventory, recommending disposal or redeployment.
    • Support Finance during month-end and year-end inventory valuation and reconciliation.

    Receiving & Issuing Control

    • Ensure all receipts are supported by valid purchase orders, delivery notes and inspection approvals.
    • Control issuance strictly against approved material requisitions, job cards, and work orders.
    • Enforce authorization matrices for issuance of high-value, sensitive, or controlled items.
    • Prevent stock losses through strict access control, documentation discipline, and security coordination.

    Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance

    • Ensure full compliance with Dangote Cement HSE policies and mining safety regulations.
    • Enforce safe storage and handling of lubricants, oils, chemicals, explosivesrelated materials (if applicable).
    • Ensure availability and proper use of spill kits, fire-fighting equipment, and safety signage.
    • Participate actively in HSE inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

    Planning, Coordination & Stakeholder Management

    • Work closely with Mines Operations and Maintenance teams to forecast material requirements and prevent downtime.
    • Liaise with Procurement on lead times, supplier performance, and urgent sourcing of long-lead items.
    • Coordinate with Logistics and Security on inbound deliveries and safe movement of materials to mine sites.
    • Provide input into annual budgets, shutdown planning, and major maintenance activities.

    Reporting & Documentation

    • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly mines stores reports covering stock levels, usage trends, variances, and critical shortages.
    • Maintain accurate documentation for audit trails, including GRNs, issue vouchers, transfer notes, and adjustment reports.
    • Support internal and external audits, ensuring zero audit queries on mine inventory.      

    Requirements

    Education and Work Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Mining Engineering or a related field.
    • A minimum of 10 years of experience in store operations.

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong knowledge of mining equipment spare parts and consumables

    HEMM Technician - Mines

    • Responsible for ensuring that plant heavy equipment are in safe operating condition by conducting routine maintenance and scheduling needed repairs.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • To carry out all types of repairs (emergency/running) and daily/periodic preventive maintenance of various make & types of heavy duty equipment , utilities, plants/vehicles in accordance with manufacturer’s guidance/recommendation and safe operating procedures to ensure optimum utilization and availability.
    • To ensure proper housekeeping during and after completion of jobs.
    • To give adequate on- the- job training to junior technician/helpers in order to develop them professionally.
    • To always ensure safety in using material handling equipment, tools etc.
    • Carry out performance appraisal and practical assessment of junior technicians/helpers/intending staff for promotion and employment respectively.
    • To use all the PPE as recommended by the Safety Policy of the company and report to the authorities concerned regarding the accidents and near miss incident.
    • To suggest to the management methods of improvements of maintenance practices.
    • To ensure consistent availability of HEMM for operation without interruption.
    • To diagnose the problem on diesel engine, hydraulic & transmission system and to initiate remedial actions appropriately.
    • To assist the supervisor/engineer for the spare parts planning.
    • Proper handling of tools provided them and to ensure right usage. Also responsible for getting the right tools for jobs at hand.
    • Should have a valid DRIVING LICENCE.
    • Compliance with ISO regulations.

    Education and Work Experience

    • SSCE, National Diploma, Trade test-1, 2 & 3 in mechanical fitting/mechanical equipment maintenance.
    • Minimum of (3 - 10) years experience in HEMM and LMV

    • Knowledge of repair and maintenance of plant heavy equipment.
    • Good oral and written communication skills.
