    Senior Wind Engineering Manager

    Job Description

    • Wind energy is seen as a critical technology to assist CBE in achieving higher levels of RE contribution to our customers.
    • Our current wind portfolio under construction and development includes ~300MW of projects across Madagascar, Kenya and Australia with additional potential being explored in other regions including Egypt, Senegal and Mozambique.
    • CBE is recruiting a full-time Senior Wind Engineering Manager to drive the development and implementation of our existing and future wind portfolio.
    • The role will initially be focused on managing the wind projects under construction and development and expand into the development of new opportunities and the associated growth and management of the wind engineering team.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Conduct hybrid sizing, configuration and design including optimal configuration of wind, solar, thermal and storage seeking to optimize for LCoE;
    • Carry out site and situation analysis of projects and effectively drive the technical development to address high risk and critical path workstreams;
    • Manage data gathering from customers and associated 3rd parties as required to effectively carry out studies and associated development activities;
    • Manage the early-stage technical analysis of projects including the engagement with third party consultants and specialists as may be required to carry out specialist studies;

    Energy Policy Director

    Job Description  

    • CrossBoundary Energy is recruiting a full-time Energy Policy Director to drive CBE’s pan-African energy regulatory engagement strategy.
    • We are seeking a resourceful and creative problem-solver to execute CBE’s vision for changing how African governments view distributed energy.
    • The Energy Policy Director will support project development teams to secure licenses through direct advocacy and management of in-country consultants, as well as sourcing current and specific research to guide CBE’s business development efforts in new markets.
    • This person will also help design and carry out strategic activities to secure and promote our solar business models for the long-term across Africa, including advocacy for appropriate net-metering, captive power, and power wheeling approaches (across East and West Africa).     ESCO Project Engineer

    • CrossBoundary Energy is recruiting an ESCo Project Engineer for the development and implementation of it Telecom Energy as a Service Company (TESCo) activities in Africa. We are actively pursuing opportunities to provide Energy Services to integrate solar PV and storage solutions with telecom customers who rely on diesel generators to provide power to their operations. Working with our engineering team, EHS team, operations team, business development team, finance team and external consultants and EPC contractors, the ESCo Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting technical development activities as well as contracting and management of EPC contractors and general oversight support for projects through development and implementation.
    • Other activities could integrate support with the development of our ESCo product, from equipment sourcing to creation of an asset management tool, and technical support during operations.

    Qualifications

    • 2+ year work experience in solar PV, SHS, minigrids or nanogrid construction with a top-tier firm
    • Experience designing a small scale solar/storage/thermal hybrid project including minigrids and nanogrids
    • Working knowledge of battery storage technologies and design of storage solutions
    • Background in designing and implementing EHS policies for construction projects
    • Undergone some project management training
    • Experience working in Africa
    • Good commercial understanding of the solar IPP model including an understanding of project finance

    Senior Operations Officer

    Required Qualifications 

    • Cover letter highlighting at least two specific examples in your work describing how adoption of new tools, technologies, or automations in the organization helped the company to better achieve its goals 
    • 3+ years’ experience working in operations, IT, corporate communications, or business intelligence at a top-tier international corporation, consulting firm, or start-up enterprise 
    • Motivation to work in the renewable energy industry, particularly the distributed generation / off-grid sector  
    • Curiosity about managing B2B external relations and branding 
    • Fluency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) 
    • Familiarity with the capabilities of applications in the Microsoft Technology Stack (Dynamics, Sharepoint, Projects, Teams) 
    • Familiarity with graphic design principles and social media management 
    • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field 

    Primary Responsibilities 

    • Identify patterns in team workflows across CBE’s Business Development, Project Development, Regulatory, Environmental & Social, Finance, and other departments, synthesizing disparate quantitative and qualitative data to form a cogent view of how our team gets work done 
    • Accelerate problem-solving within CBE’s corporate operations function by identifying the core business/financial problem to be solved, then quickly structuring and executing on an effective, efficient approach to cracking it  
    • Translate knowledge and analyses into digestible “so-what's,” reporting back to the Operations team and to CBE Management on the impact of Operations opportunities and challenges  
    • Employ a hypothesis-driven, adaptable, and prioritized framework to investigating how to remove obstacles to setting up holistic operations in new countries  
    • Negotiate on CBE's behalf to contract business service providers, including legal, communications, insurance partners. Manage constructive conflict where necessary in a calm, curious, and solutions-oriented manner to advance CBE's business interests  
    • Identify gaps in existing procedures or documentation and pilot new ways of doing things to better achieve team objectives  
    • Develop new checklists, procedures, tools, procedures, and templates to better capture and organize team knowledge and data to publicize CBE’s brand and meet reporting obligations 
    • Train CBE teams on new, efficient ways of working, collecting and responding to team feedback 
    • Remain appraised of relevant corporate regulations and lead application for and acquisition of corporate permits and any other permissions as appropriate 
    • Identify external industry, national, or global work trends that impact CBE's business and shares with the team. Contribute ideas about potential positive and negative impacts of external trends on team work in group discussions 
    • Lead on short-term, interdisciplinary strategic initiatives at the request of the COO
