    Finance Manager

    About the Role

    • We are looking for a dynamic and critical-thinking professional who can build develop and lead all finance efforts for the company to support our vision. The successful candidate will need to be an independent, high-achieving individual, able to provide tactical and strategic support in all aspects of our finances. This role will also involve managing our finance associates and accountants.
    • The Finance Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial health of our delivery hub. This individual will be responsible for managing financial operations, developing budgets, monitoring financial performance, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business decisions.
    • You'll work side by side with a tight-knit team of creative problem solvers. So, an ideal candidate will be solution-oriented and apply a high level of rigor and attention to detail to work. You should be able to multi-task and reprioritize workstreams according to rapidly changing developments and have a strong sense of ownership and responsibility. As the finance manager, you would be directly responsible for helping us define the best processes for our finances and also be the point person for anything finance-related.

    This role is full-time. You will report directly to the CFO.

    We'll trust you to:

    • Manage the accounting associates in their accounting duties such as settlements, reconciliations, fraud analysis, and preparing the books.
    • Ensure that monthly management reports are adequately prepared.
    • Manage cash flow and ensure timely settlement to vendors and partners.
    • Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards.
    • Reconcile products against vendor statements to ensure coherence.
    • Execute annual, monthly, and weekly reports on revenues, profits, and expenses for submission to other managers, stakeholders, and external analysts.
    • Oversee all accounts and reporting systems ensuring they are compliant with regulatory requirements.
    • Make sure internal controls are strong and other processes related to Finance & taxes are compliant (i.e. Federal, State, and other taxes).
    • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
    • Work with the company leaders to define financial projections.
    • Lead ad-hoc programs and initiatives to provide financial advisory.
    • Ensure reporting conformity with IFRS, GAAP, the company standards, Accounting procedures, and local statutory provisions (CAMA)
    • Administer financing activities such as overdrafts, facilities, and other credit agreements.
    • Oversee financial relationships with third-party entities.
    • Manage the annual audit process for both countries and ensure the timely and satisfactory completion of audits in accordance with regulatory deadlines.
    • Supervise financial partners to ensure the quality of received bank statements, thereby guaranteeing the use of complete and accurate banking information in the preparation of management reports.

    You'll thrive as a Finance Manager if you

    • have 6+ years of related finance(or finance-related) experience.
    • have a Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in accounting or finance preferred have solid experience with financial analysis and forecasting, including experience with three statement financial modeling, preparing statistical reports and making recommendations based on analysis and research.
    • have previously led a finance team before.
    • have professional qualifications such as ICAN, ACCA, CFA, CPA, CIA or CISA.
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • have strong priority management skills
    • have strong oral and written communication skills
    • have the ability to work and effectively communicate with senior-level business partners.
    • Startup work experience is an add-on
    • are intellectually honest.
    • are not afraid to say your mind.

    While this is NOT strictly required, it would be a plus if you:

    • Have previous experience in a Big Four, top-tier consulting firm, fintech, financial institution, e-commerce, OR Logistics company.

    Junior Accounting Associate

    About the Role

    • We are looking for a dynamic and critical-thinking professional who can manage all finance efforts for our vendors to support our vision. The successful candidate will need to be an independent, high-achieving individual, able to provide tactical and strategic support in specific aspects of our finances.
    • The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting financial operations and ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions. As a Junior Accounting Associate, you will work closely with the finance team to maintain financial records, reconcile accounts, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization.
    • You'll work side by side with a tight-knit team of creative problem solvers. So, an ideal candidate will be solution-oriented and apply a high level of rigor and attention to detail to work. You should be able to multi-task and reprioritize workstreams according to rapidly changing developments and have a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.

    This role is full-time. You will report directly to the Finance Manager.

    We'll trust you to:

    • Manage transactions related to the general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting for vendors.
    • Manage vendor cashflow and ensure timely settlement to vendors and partners.
    • Prepare annual, monthly, weekly reports on revenues, profits, and expenses for submission to other managers, stakeholders, and external analysts.
    • Maintain relationships with vendors and partners; represent the company to banks, financial institutions and vendors.
    • Oversee all vendor accounts and reporting systems ensuring they are compliant with regulatory requirements.
    • Knowledge of accounting software (Sage, Quickbooks, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
    • Make sure internal controls are strong and other processed related to Finance are compliant.
    • Work with the company leaders to define financial projections for vendors.
    • Lead ad-hoc programs and initiatives to provide financial advisory.
    • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements.
    • Provide support for financial audit.
    • Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures.

    You'll thrive as a Junior Accounting Associate if you

    • have 3+ years of related finance(or finance-related) experience
    • have a Bachelor’s degree(minimum of 1st class or 2nd class upper honors); concentration in accounting or finance preferred
    • have solid experience with financial analysis and forecasting, including experience with three statement financial modeling, preparing statistical reports and making recommendations based on analysis and research.
    • have professional qualifications such as ICAN, ACCA, CFA, CPA, CIA or CISA.
    • have strong priority management skills.
    • have strong oral and written communication skills.
    • have the ability to work and effectively communicate with senior-level business partners.
    • are intellectually honest.
    • are not afraid to say your mind.

    DevOps Engineer

    • This role will be central to our operations and critical in shaping the infrastructure that powers Chowdeck. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our services, giving us a chance to ensure our technology stack runs seamlessly and without issues every day. The successful candidate will report to the CTO.

    We'll trust you to:

    • Implement strategies to ensure 24/7 availability and optimal performance of our systems and services.
    • Ensure that our system architecture supports high availability and disaster recovery.
    • Develop and maintain instrumentation, monitoring and alerting systems to detect and address issues proactively.
    • Perform root cause analysis and post-mortems for downtimes or production errors and implement fixes.
    • Design, implement, and manage continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
    • Monitor and optimize cloud resources to ensure we're always running a cost-effective infrastructure.
    • Ensure our infrastructure and applications comply with the latest industry security standards and regulations

    You'll thrive as a DevOps Engineer if you

    • have a firm grasp of running and scaling real-world applications on AWS using bare EC2 instances or Elastic Beanstalk.
    • have expert knowledge in implementing and managing system and application-level telemetry, including logging, monitoring, and tracing systems.
    • can instrument applications to capture insights into performance bottlenecks and runtime issues.
    • have experience with tools like Datadog, AWS Cloudwatch, PagerDuty, or similar for in-depth monitoring and alerting.
