Job Responsibilities

• Inspecting construction sites regularly to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards.
• Supervising and instructing the construction team as well as subcontractors.
• Educating site workers on construction safety regulations and accident protocol.
• Enforcing site safety rules to minimize work-related accidents and injuries.
• Handling site accidents in accordance with established accident protocol.
• Maintaining an accurate record of construction employee attendance.
• Evaluating the performance of construction employees and instituting disciplinary measures as needed.
• Analyzing blueprints to ensure that construction projects meet design, safety, and budget specifications.
• Recommending changes to construction operations or procedures to increase efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years proven experience working as a Site Supervisor or civil engineer
• In depth knowledge of health and safety compliance and safety equipment
• Sound knowledge of building codes and construction safety regulations.
• Working knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
• The ability to interpret blueprints.
• Additional relevant certifications and trainings in civil engineering and HSE will be added advantage.
• Outstanding leadership skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Provide general support to the health and safety manager
• Assist the safety manager with health and safety monitoring activities
• Assist the safety manager with the management of fire safety throughout the organization
• Assist with the coordination and management of PPE, laboratory coats, environmental waste and environmental waste storage areas
• Liaise closely with the facilities management team to manage issues relating to the facilities service provision and specifically waste disposals, buildings, fire safety equipment, electrical testing and safety audit non-compliances
• Review and record checks on all fire exits, fire and fire equipment and fire signs
• Educate workers and employees on safety aspects, assists in preparing safety manuals and guidelines
• Inspect work area premises for hazardous elements
• Strictly adhere to corporate safety guidelines and procedures
• Promote the organization culture through standard policies

Requirements

• First degree holder in Safety Management or related field
• Minimum of four years cognate experience
• Good understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
• Detail oriented and high-level observation abilities
• Problem solving skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Technical know-how
• Certification and trainings in HSE are mandatory
