Imports & Shipping, Documentation and clearing operations

• Documentation - Manage cargo documentation with documentation team whilst ensuring invoices and other shipping documents for inbound shipments – IRM, CAPEX and Engineering goods are in compliance with Nigerian regulations and company policies.
• Customs Clearance - Work with customs brokers or agencies to facilitate clearance of goods through customs and ensure smooth import processes
• Customer Support - Coordinate shipment planning and liaising with international vendors/ Import Mgr. and partners to address inquiries, provide shipping information, and resolve any issues
• Monitor vessel arrivals and departures, updating shipment records and database accordingly.
• Verify incoming and outgoing shipment records, ensuring accuracy.
• Interpret Customs tariff positions and government fiscal policies.
• Obtain and verify shipping documents from suppliers, forwarders, etc., for timely cargo clearance.
• Participate in shipping contracts, Form M, LC processes, and policy formulation.
• Logistics Coordination: Coordinate shipping and transportation arrangements, including recommendation on selecting carriers, booking cargo space (for exports/ FOB), and tracking shipments
• Handle settlements for operational material damages in collaboration with relevant parties.
• Maintain organized records of customs documents, regulatory notices, and third-party documentation.
• Monitoring import costs, identifying areas for savings, and improving supply chain efficiency

Stakeholder Relations

• Collaborate with regulatory authorities (e.g., NAFDAC, Customs, NPA) for seamless cargo documentation clearance.
• Stay updated on market trends and contribute to the assessment of clearing and freight forwarders.
• Develop service level agreements for third-party providers and optimize their performance.

Educational Level & Skills required

• Must have: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Import-Exports/ Shipping/ Logistics, Business Management or Engineering or related discipline.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with various stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Working Experience

• Proven experience in export operations and international trade. 
• Strong knowledge of export regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements. 
• Familiarity with import/ export finance and payment terms (e.g., letters of credit, open account). 
• Certification in import/ export management or customs procedures (desired).

SCOPE & AUTHORITIES

Senior Engineer, Plot and Utilities Design

• Undertakes the training of Employees in the department
• Attends project meetings
• Takes up a team lead position even across disciplines
• Liaises with Clients, professional organisations, contractors, suppliers, trade contractors and other designers.
• Identifies and meets the requirements and expectations of the project.
• Develops conceptual designs and generates detailed layouts, and reviews engineering designs for efficiency and ease of construction
• Takes ownership of projects while providing leadership for other engineers
• Takes decisions on selection criteria for different piping and cable routing  networks,
• Preparation of Tender Documents with the Team Lead
• Analysing technical drawings and providing material quantities.
• Delegating tasks and ensuring workers receive feedback.
• Create the work instructions
• Ensuring correctness and accuracy by reviewing estimates
• Accountability for assigned work with attention to detail is a must
• Co-ordinates and undertakes discrete packages of work with other team members and disciplines (under the direction of the technical lead, mainly for larger projects).
• Provides specialised technical input for infrastructural designs.
• Executes the development of technical proposals.
• Executes and supervises preparation of specifications, schedules, drawings, calculations and any other contract deliverables when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Engineering Degree Required.
• Must be COREN registered
• Minimum of 5years of hands-on experience in Infrastructure Services Engineering.

Technical Competencies

Senior Engineer with the following qualifications and skills:

• Minimum of a Second-Class Upper Division degree (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Water Resources Engineering.
• At least 5 years of post-NYSC experience.
• Proficiency in the design of roads, drainage systems, and culverts.
• Expertise in analysing flows in pipe networks, including stormwater drainage, water distribution, and sewage reticulation.
• Experience in designing Water Treatment Plants (WTP) and Sanitary Treatment Plants (STP).
• Proficient use of AutoCAD and Civil 3D for road design, pipe networks, design calculations, and material measurements.
• Competence in hydraulic design software such as EPANET, SSA, and HY-8.
• Knowledge of Revit software is an added advantage.
• Ability to use GIS applications (e.g., Google Earth, Global Mapper, and ESRI platforms) to support design processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accountability for assigned tasks.
