The Opportunity

As a Driver, you will provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation services to support the implementation of the ASPIRE Project in Sokoto State. You will ensure that staff, visitors and project materials are transported efficiently while maintaining Plan International Nigeria's vehicles in good working condition and complying with organisational policies and road safety regulations.

You will contribute towards the operational aspects of the office and programmes, interfacing with both operational and programme team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe and timely transportation for staff, visitors and authorised personnel.
• Ensure vehicles are clean, roadworthy and properly maintained through routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, fuel records, and maintenance reports.
• Ensure vehicle movements comply with Plan International Nigeria's transport and travel policies.
• Report accidents, faults and maintenance needs promptly.
• Safely transport project equipment, documents and other materials as required.
• Ensure vehicles are equipped with essential safety items, including first aid kits, fire extinguishers and other required emergency equipment.
• Dispatch and deliver official documents and materials to partners, vendors and relevant stakeholders.
• Support administrative and logistics activities, including sourcing quotations for procurement when required.
• Safeguard Plan International Nigeria's assets and ensure they are not left unattended in vehicles.
• Maintain compliance with safeguarding, child protection, gender equality, inclusion, and PSHEA standards in all assigned duties.

About You

We are looking to recruit person (s) with:

• Has an Ordinary or Advanced Level Certificate.
• Possesses a valid Class B Driver's Licence.
• Has at least three (3) years of professional driving experience, including vehicle maintenance.
• Has experience working with an NGO or development organisation (an added advantage).
• Demonstrates good knowledge of Sokoto State road networks and other North-Central and North-West states.
• Can confidently drive Hilux vehicles.
• Has good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Has basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Is organised, dependable, and able to manage time effectively.
• Pays attention to detail and maintains accurate vehicle documentation.
• Works well within a team and demonstrates professionalism, courtesy, and integrity.

The opportunity

The purpose of this role is to ensure the effective and timely implementation and coordination of an Education pilot project funded by Akelius Foundation and implemented by Plan International Nigeria in Kano State.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures proper stewardship of Plan International Nigeria resources and adherence to donor, organizational, and government policies and regulations.
• Coordinates implementation of the project in accordance with approved workplans, budgets, donor agreements, and implementation timelines.
• Develops and maintains detailed implementation plans, activity trackers, and milestone monitoring tools.
• Monitors implementation progress and ensures timely delivery of project outputs and deliverables.
• Coordinates project inception, review meetings, quarterly learning meetings, and project close-out activities.
• Monitors monthly expenditure, Budget versus Actual (BvA) reports, and burn rates to ensure spending remains on track.
• Coordinates monthly project review meetings and follows up on agreed action points.
• Supports financial forecasting and budget revisions where necessary.
• Coordinates deployment, utilization, and monitoring of Akelius devices and digital learning resources across participating learning centres.
• Coordinates learner orientation, facilitator training, coaching, mentoring, and technical support activities.
• Coordinates implementation of project monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL) activities, including baseline, periodic assessments, and endline.
• Documents lessons learned, best practices, innovations, and success stories throughout project implementation.
• Coordinates stakeholder engagement with Akelius Foundation, Plan International Sweden, FMoE, UBEC, NERDC, Kano State Ministry of Education, SAME, SANE, LGEAs, and community structures.
• Ensures timely preparation and submission of quality monthly, quarterly, and donor reports.
• Coordinates closely with Finance, Supply Chain, MERL, Safeguarding, Communications, and Programme Support teams to ensure effective project implementation.
• Supports identification and management of implementation risks and ensures mitigation measures are implemented.
• Ensures safeguarding, gender equality, disability inclusion, and accountability principles are integrated across all project activities.
• Represents Plan International Nigeria at technical meetings, review sessions, and stakeholder engagements related to the project.
• Performs any other project-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Safeguarding

The Project Coordinator shall:

• Commit and contribute to an environment where children and programme participants feel respected, supported, safe and protected;
• Never act or behave in a manner that results in violence against a child or programme participant or places a child or programme participant at risk of violence;
• Be aware of and adhere to the provisions of the Global Safeguarding Policy and Safeguarding Code of Conduct including the PII Prevention of Sexual Harassment Exploitation and Abuse Policy in public and private life; and:
• Report and respond to safeguarding concerns and breaches of the policies immediately in line with the applicable procedures of Plan International Nigeria.

And ensure that:

• Children, programme participants and communities with whom we engage, work or are in contact are made aware of the provisions of the Safeguarding and PSHEA Policies to ensure they have the confidence and ability to report any incidents occurring against children and programme participants;
• Staff, Associates, and Visitors are aware of the Safeguarding Implementation Standards that are applicable to their role or engagement with us and manage performance accordingly;
• She/he supports and develops systems which maintain an environment which is safe for and prevents violence against children and programme participants;
• Departmental/functional procedures and guidelines are adapted to incorporate Safeguarding and PSHEA measures described in Business Standards: Designing and Delivering Safe Programmes and Influencing Work.
• Ensure risk assessments are routinely conducted for departmental/functional initiatives and mitigation measures applied in line with the standard “Identifying and Managing Safeguarding and SHEA Risks”.

About You

We are looking to recruit person(s) with;

• Strong knowledge and experience in project coordination and implementation of education programmes.
• Proven planning, budgeting, implementation tracking, and project management skills.
• Strong ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, coordinate multiple activities, and meet deadlines.
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Project Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
• Completion of NYSC is compulsory.
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience coordinating donor-funded education or development programmes.
• Experience working within Nigeria's basic and non-formal education sector.
• Experience working with government education stakeholders and community structures.
• Strong knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, research, learning, and reporting processes.
• Good understanding of safeguarding, gender equality, disability inclusion, and accountability principles.
• Proven coordination, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills.
• Ability to document lessons learned and use evidence to improve programme quality.
• Strong report writing, presentation, and communication skills.
• Experience implementing digital learning or education technology programmes.
• Experience working with Accelerated Basic Education Programme (ABEP) or alternative education programmes.
• Experience working with Akelius or similar digital learning platforms.
• Experience working with Plan International or similar INGOs.
• Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of gender and inclusion issues within the Nigerian education sector.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English; knowledge of Hausa is an advantage.
• Understanding of gender issues in Nigeria, especially pertaining to the education sector
• Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
