    Registrar

    Job Description

    • The Ebonyi State University Governing Council hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who are not more than sixty (60) years of age to fill the position of Registrar.
    • The Registrar shall at first instance hold office for a period of four (4) years from the effective date of appointment and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a second final term of four years.

    The Registrar

    • The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University except with regard to financial matters.
    • The Registrar is also the Secretary to the Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Candidate(s) must possess a good Degree from a recognized University.
    • The candidate(s) must have had, at least, fifteen (15) years post-qualification cognate experience in a University where he/she must have served at the administrative level and must have been a Deputy Registrar for at least three (3) years.
    • He/she must possess adequate leadership experience.
    • Possession of a higher degree and membership of recognised Professional body is an added advantage.

    Specifically, the candidate is expected to:

    • Be a person with good leadership qualities who can inspire and motivate a crop of young administrative officers to be able to get the best out of them.
    • Be a person of high integrity, moral standards and upright.
    • Enjoy excellent physical/mental health and present a medical certificate of fitness during the interview.
    • Be focused and innovative.
    • Be computer literate.

    Conditions of Service
    The successful applicant will be placed on consolidated salary for Registrars and will equally enjoy all the allowances normally attached to the position of Principal Officers in Nigerian Universities and other benefits/entitlements as approved by the Governing Council from time to time.

    Bursar

    Job Description

    • The Ebonyi State University Governing Council hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who are not more than sixty (60) years of age to fill the position of Bursar.
    • The Bursar shall at first instance hold office for a period of four (4) years from the effective date of appointment and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a second final term of four years.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • The candidate for the post of Bursar must possess a good Degree in Accounting or any other related discipline from a recognized University, plus any of the following recognised professional qualifications; ICAN/ ACA/ACCA/ACMA/ CPA and ANAN. Membership of a relevant professional body is a necessary requirement.
    • The candidate(s) must have had, at least, fifteen (15) years post-qualification cognate experience as an accountant in a University or related institution where he/she must have been a Deputy Bursar for at least three (3) years.
    • The candidate must have clean and impeccable records of service and demonstrate evidence of professional competence as well as relevant accounting software applications with a high degree of accountability, transparency, integrity and probity.
    • Applicants should be highly computer literate and be conversant with the application of ICT-based accounting packages.

    Conditions of Service
    The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Bursar in Nigerian Universities and as may be determined from time to time by the University Governing Council as appropriate.

    University Librarian

    Job Description

    • The Ebonyi State University Governing Council hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who are not more than sixty (60) years of age to fill the position of University Librarian.
    • The University Librarian shall at first instance hold office for a period of four (4) years from the effective date of appointment and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a second final term of four years.

    The University Librarian

    • The University Librarian is the Chief Library Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor and oversees the administration of the University Library and the coordination of the Library Services of the University.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Candidates for the post of University Librarian must possess a good honours Degree and professional qualifications in Librarianship.
    • Candidates must also show evidence of considerable scholarship and a thorough understanding of the application of new technologies to library operations and services. In this regard, computer literacy and the application of ICT in Library Services is an essential requirement.
    • He/she must have held an equivalent position in a related institution other than a University or has held or acted as a Librarian for at least a period of six months.
    • In addition, the Librarian being an academic staff, a prospective candidate must show sufficient evidence of contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable journals within and outside Nigeria and competence in job planning, organisational ability to take initiatives to fast-track the development of a University Library to an international standard within a short period of time.

    Conditions of Service
    The successful applicant will be placed on consolidated salary with relevant fringe benefits and will equally enjoy the allowances normally attached to the position of Principal Officers to Nigerian Universities and other benefits as approved by the Governing Council of the University.

    Vice-Chancellor

    Job Description

    • The Governing Council of Ebonyi State University is desirous of recruiting a visionary and dynamic Vice Chancellor to lead an excellent team of Principal Officers for the University.
    • As a result of the above, the Ebony State University Governing Council hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position.

    The Vice-Chancellor

    • The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University.
    • He/she shall be the Chief exponent of the educational mission of the University and his/her office shall serve as the nerve centre of activities in areas of protocol, external relations and coordination of various organs.
    • The Vice Chancellor sees to the day-to-day administration of the University and shall ensure that the goals of the University are met.
    • He/she is responsible to the Governing Council for the management of human, monetary and material resources of the University
    • It is also the duty of the Vice Chancellor to seethat the provisions of the law, the statutes, ordinances and the regulations of the University are observed and he/she may exercise such powers as may be necessary for that purpose.
    • The Vice Chancellor must therefore be competent at all times to advise the Council on any matter affecting the policy. finance and administration of the University.
    • The Vice Chancellor is, by virtue of his office, a member of Council, Chairman of Senate, Convocation, Congregation, WASP Board among others.
    • The success of the job will depend on his ability to lead, motivate and inspire administrative associations, academic and non-academic staff as well as students and all other stakeholders to work towards the central purpose of the University which is to advance learning and enhance talents.

    Tenure of Office / Terms of Appointment

    • The Vice Chancellor shall hold office for a single non-renewable term of five years beginning from the effective date of his/her appointment.
    • His/her terms and conditions of service shall be embodied in a contract under the seal of the University.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • The candidate for the post of the Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University must be a distinguished scholar with outstanding academic and administrative records.
    • He must be a proven Manager of human, financial and material resources.

    Specifically, the person must:

    • Possess a Doctoral Degree or its equivalent and be a full Professor of not less than five (5) years standing with the ability to provide academic and administrative leadership for the University Community.
    • Possess a proven track record of academic excellence such as ability to command the respect of national and international academic communities and colleagues.
    • Possess a clear vision for further development of the University and realisation of its vision, mission and strategic goals.
    • Have a demonstrable ability to establish and maintain partnership with local, national and international governmental and non-governmental agencies and organisations.
    • Possess a a proven and demonstrable ability to attract national and international research and development grants.
    • Exhibit entrepreneurial drive and ability to attract extra-statutory funds and mobilize other resources for the development of the University's strategic plan.
    • Possess personal integrity in the management of funds and be able to deploy financial resources as appropriate in the context of the University's strategic plan.
    • Demonstrate ability to attract, motivate and retain highly skilled and talented staff in all categories, teaching and non-teaching.
    • Demonstrate interpersonal and team building skills and possess the ability to build bridges between staff, students and other members of the University Community and the University's stakeholders including the State and Local Governments in Ebonyi State.
    • Demonstrate respectable level of ICT literacy.
    • Enjoy excellent physical and mental health.
    • Candidate must not be more than seventy (70) years at the time of appointment.

    Conditions of Service
    The remuneration and other conditions of service shall be as applicable to the post of Vice-Chancellor in a Nigeria University and as may be determined by the Government of Ebonyi State and Council of Ebonyi State University from time to time.
