    Title: Plant Supervisor

    Department: Operations

    Product Segment: Paint & Coatings etc.

    Functionally Reports to: Production Manager

    Administratively Reports to: General Manager

    Job Objectives -

    Plant Supervisor's Job is to supervise manufacturing staff, coordinate and cooperate with various cross functional team for smooth operations of plant.

    A production manager is responsible for maintaining the accurate quality and quantity control to ensure the on-time delivery of produced products in order to satisfy the clients.

    Job Responsibilities -

    • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
    • Duties include the following, measurable in terms of time, cost, quality or quantity.

    Strategic Responsibility - To set the direction of the plant operation, achieve monthly / weekly / daily production plan, and prepare action plans for self and individual team members.

    Day to Day Management - To supervise daily shop floor operations and achieve production targets as specified on daily, weekly or monthly basis.

    • To maintain work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources;
    • To facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
    • To ensure shop floor compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
    • To ensure day to day coordination among various functions for planning, procurement from other plants, production & dispatch planning as per customer requirements.
    • To plan for Manpower as per shop-floor operations and job allocation for the people on less production days.
    • Operational Targets - To ensure key projects tracking on a continuous basis and submit periodical update to management.
    • To handle, work priorities and allocating resources to meet the assigned shop floor time lines and goals.
    • To enforce discipline, punctuality and safety as part of conduct among staff.
    • To do periodic audit inspection and ensure housekeeping, safety, personnel hygiene and environmental compliance through implementation of EHS.

    Key Projects - To follow new projects as and when assigned for improvement and take responsibility for its successful execution after approval from Factory Manager and GM Operations.

    People Management -  To manage effective communication by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, providing of formal and informal feedback on performance and training needs - in order to maximize subordinate and department performance.

    Reporting - To prepare all applicable reports in time for accuracy and in order to ensure that they match the functional requirements, policies and standards.

    Safety Health & Environment - To ensure compliance to all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures across the department in order to promote a healthy and safe work environment.

    Related Assignment - To perform other related duties or assignment as and when assigned.

    Job Requirements -

    • Bachelor degrees (Paint / Chemicals / Chemistry) with hands on experience in handling paint / coating shop floor.
    • The applicant must have good knowledge about ISO, HACCP and Other applicable international standards.
    • Experience of minimum 5 years and more would be needed with team handling experience of minimum 10 - 20 people.

    Production Supervisor

    Our client, a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company is currently recruiting suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

    Job Descriptions

    • Plant Operation Strategy - To develop plant operations strategy/policy, processes and procedure.
    • To manage the implementation of all the relevant applicable SOP's.
    • To set the direction of the plant operation, forecast monthly production plan, weekly target and prepare action plans for self and individual team members.
    • The Production Supervisor appointed will be responsible to execute planning and co-coordination at various levels i.e
    •  Production Planning, Maintenance Schedule Planning, Inventory Planning (Product & Packaging), Workforce Planning, Shift Planning, Housekeeping Planning etc.
    • Day to Day Management - To manage the day-to-day operations of shop floor providing guidance, encouraging team work and facilitating related professional work processes in order to achieve high performance standards.
    • Day to day coordination among various functions for planning, procurement from other plants, production & dispatch planning as per customer requirements.
    • To plan for Manpower as per shop-floor operations and job allocation for the people on less production days.
    • Operational Targets - Monitoring achievement against Production Plan, Cost of Production, Production Efficiency, Operating Efficiency, Overall Equipment Efficiency, Direct Labor cost and Production Budget monitoring and reporting.
    • Managing Time lines and work priorities and allocating resources to meet the assigned shop floor time lines and goals. Ensuring the effectual adopting of new programs and policies, providing training in order to meet improved requirement ordered by clients.
    • To supervise and enforce quality standards as applicable and work on implementation of GMP, HACCP & ISO.
    • People Management - Manages to effective communication by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, providing of formal and informal feedback on performance and training needs - in order to maximize subordinate and department performance.
    • Reporting - To prepare all applicable reports in time for accuracy and in order to ensure that they match the functional requirements, policies and standards.
    • Safety Health & Environment - Ensure compliance to all relevant on-floor/off-floor safety, health and environmental procedures across the department in order to promote a healthy and safe work environment.

    Requirements
    Education:

    • B.Sc. / HND in related field
    • Certification in related field is a plus.

    Work Experience:

    • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR in FOOD SCIENCE BACKGROUND
    • Well exposed to process operations.
    • Well versed with ISO / HACCP and other quality and safety standards.
    • As per the need of the business the job is transferrable and posting can be made anywhere in Nigeria/West Africa.

    Food Technologist (Bakeries/Pastries)

    Our Client; a reputable FMCG firm is looking to fill the role of FOOD TECHNOLOGIST (Bakeries/Pastries)

    Responsibilities

    • Develops new products leveraging expertise in food chemistry, food ingredient functionality and experimental design
    • Manages and oversees R&D technical functions such as sensory, shelf-life testing, legal label claims, product/packaging improvement
    • Manages and develops scientific approaches to business needs in areas of flavor and microbial shelf life
    • Provides product costs based on commodities, ingredients, and product formulations
    • Responsible for sourcing ingredients and leveraging vendor expertise in ingredient functionality
    • Develop and maintain product specification, ingredient statements, allergen information and formulas for seasoning blends; then incorporate respective information into the label design process as needed
    • Participates in production trials and works with new product start-ups- ensure products are made to spec.
    • Works with production personnel on scale up of new products, suggests initial order quantities for ingredients and packaging, obtain cost of materials
    • Provides support on technical and / or quality issues
    • Act as a technical resource to support quality issues, answer questions about products, production capabilities, labeling regulations
    • Present new products to customers; often involves cooked preparation of multiple items or full meals
    • General awareness of NAFDAC regulations, restricted / limited ingredients and approved processing procedures
    • Optimizes cost / quality and process improvements contributing to increased product quality and profitability for the business
    • Designs tests, interpret results and recommend next steps in product development
    • Assists QA / QC in the analysis of product that generates customer complaints

    Requirements

    • Minimum of B.Sc. Degree in Food Science and Technology is a MUST.
    • Minimum of 5 years Cognate Experience years in a Food Manufacturing Firm (Bakery, Pastries, Confectioneries)
    • Ability to work in accordance with safety and food safety policies.
    • Intermediate ability in Microsoft Office products, specifically Microsoft Excel
