    Nutrition Activity Manager (National Position)

    The position holder is responsible for the implementation of a quality Nutrition program, in accordance with national and international standards. The Nutrition Manager will identify gaps in Nutrition services and take the necessary steps to address those gaps. This includes providing guidance and support to the team as well as ensuring proper coordination with other sectors and organizational functions. In addition, the position holder is also expected to provide consistent and high-quality technical support in the project implementation and will other project staff in the LGA to deliver excellent project performance

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support the Medical Coordinator in defining, monitoring, and updating the medical content of the INTERSOS country policy and annual plan, by analyzing health needs and translating them into objectives, priorities, and resources needed to cover the medical and humanitarian needs of the population at risk.
    • Conducts needs assessments, identifying priority needs and potential areas of action and emergencies, drafting reports, concept notes, and project proposals
    • Support project implementation by answering medical questions from the field, and participating in briefings and debriefings of medical staff.
    • Assist the Medical Coordinator in stakeholder identification and engagement. Additionally, represent INTERSOS in meetings or with different stakeholders as and when required.
    • Assess and address promptly, the medical and non-medical needs of the project interventions under his/her responsibility by collaboration with relevant departments.
    • Ensures efficiency and quality in project activities by regular monitoring and continuous support to field teams.
    • In close coordination with the Medical Coordinator, ensure proper management of the health team including but not limited to; recruitment, training, induction, performance evaluation, development, and internal/external communication.
    • Facilitate the circulation of information and fluid communication within the team and between the team ensuring effective and efficient implementation of project activities.
    • Coordinate daily management of the team’s work plan under his/her responsibility.
    • Participate in cluster meetings and relevant inter-sectoral coordination meetings at the field level, contributing to the development of guidelines, standards, tools, and strategies.
    • Organize and participate in meetings with other managers to ensure smooth collaboration of all departments in terms of activities running.
    • Responsible for the medical data collection, analysis, and reporting to the Medical Coordinator through the correct use of internal databases and monitoring tools to ensure proper monitoring of the program. AND/OR
    • Reports to the Medical Coordinator all the nutrition activities and coordinates closely before taking any decisions/actions.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • MB.BS degree. Desirable specialization in Tropical Medicine or a degree in Public Health.
    • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a clinic, health, or nutrition supervisor in the humanitarian sector especially in fragile and unstable environments
    • Essential computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, etc.)
    • Demonstrate experience with different donors’ compliance and reporting
    • Leadership, people management, and development, teamwork and cooperation, strategic Vision, and Service Orientation
    • Understanding of humanitarian operations principles, standards, and best practices
    • Work within the framework of IINTERSOS Nigeria’s core values.
    • Act as an ambassador for INTERSOS Nigeria, through professionalism and conduct.
    • Adhere to all INTERSOS policies and procedures both technical and administrative.
    • Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programs.

    Midwife/Nurse (National Position)

    The Midwife is responsible for the implementation of Maternal and Neonatal Care, in particular: Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (BEmONC), Antenatal Care and Postnatal Care, Counselling, and provision of Family Planning (including long-term methods) including Post Abortion care. She ensures that services offered at the INTERIORS-supported health facilities are of quality standard respecting INTERSOS values, policies, protocols, and universal health standards.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care (BEmONC), neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, reproductive tract infections and wound care in accordance with INTERSOS Reproductive Core Package of Activities and reinforce the implementation of standardized protocols.
    • Collaborate with the medical doctor and/or nurse in the management of Sexual violence cases.
    • Provide counseling sessions for patients and beneficiaries on ANC, PNC, and IYCF.
    • Assess the feasibility of referral of pregnant women from the TBAs to the BEmONC facility for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries
    • Ensure hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met according to INTERSOS specifications
    • Ensures timely supported referrals to the nearest CEMONC Facility.
    • Ensures staff adherence to universal hygiene standards/precautions, appropriate waste management, bio-hazard prevention, infection prevention, and control in the health facilities. Works with cleaning staff to maintain general cleanliness of the working environment.
    • Guarantee a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders).
    • Properly follow up on all newborn babies from delivery until discharge, informing mothers and relatives about the importance of breastfeeding, vaccination, and possible complications resulting from harmful traditional practices.
    • Ensure patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality is respected.
    • Adhere to and practice the use of Universal Precautions and proper waste management at all INTERSOS-supported health facilities.
    • Supervise that administrative procedures of admissions and hospitalizations comply with national protocols, as well as verify patients are properly informed and receive the documents required (birth certificate, vaccination card, etc.)
    • Participate in the organization of the ward in collaboration with other midwives and the Senior Nurse Team Lead; ensure transfer of relevant information to the next shift team (especially identifying risk cases)
    • According to national protocols in force, conduct normal deliveries independently manage obstetric emergencies; identify cases needing referral and send them in time, clean up the newborn, execute and register first neonatal medical acts (cutting and cleaning the umbilical cord, vaccination, etc.), detecting possible anomalies/infections of the new-born and reporting them to the doctor, to ensure successful interventions; supervise the use of drugs, facilities, and obstetric material, to ensure, in accordance
    • Ensure community participation in reproductive healthcare delivery services through regular meetings and consultation of the Traditional Birth Attendant (TBA) and Community Health Committees (CHC).

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Qualification as a registered midwife
    • At least two years of professional experience as a midwife
    • Recent clinical experience (at least six months within the last 24 months)
    • Experience in labor wards and difficult case management
    • If working as an independent midwife, the previous experience must include extensive numbers of deliveries as well as pre-and post-natal care and relevant experience in hospital settings
    • Willingness to work in unstable areas
