    People Operations Associate

    The People Operations Associate will support the Human Resources Manager in executing Duplo’s HR strategy to ensure Duplo remains a fantastic place to work.

    Responsibilities 

    • Own the onboarding process for new hires
    • Manage data on Duplo’s HRIS and ensure HR compliance organization-wide 
    • Assist in the recruitment of top talent for Duplo’s fast-growing team
    • Serve as a point of contact managing external stakeholders 
    • Serve as a culture champion for Duplo proactively promoting and leading activities to contribute to the adoption of Company values and positive Company culture.
    • Support the Human Resources Manager in the development of tools and programs that can help increase Employee Engagement
    • Support the Human Resources Manager in the development, implementation and execution of Duplo’s learning and development initiatives
    • Assist in the management of employee quarterly performance reviews and Company-wide appraisal cycles - ensuring all employees have KPIs 

    Qualifications

    • 3-5 years experience in Human Resources Management 
    • In-depth understanding of various HR functions
    • Proven track record of taking ownership in building HR Processes
    • You will thrive in this role if you are analytical, innovative, people-centric, take ownership, adapt quickly to change, and are detail-oriented.
    • Proven experience in recruitment, employee engagement, performance management and learning and development
    • Proven track record of developing initiatives that have increased employee engagement
    • Experience with Human Resource Management Systems and Applicant Tracking Systems - BambooHR 
    • The ideal candidate must also demonstrate the ability to listen, analyze and inform appropriately while maintaining the required sensibilities in handling confidential information.
    • Experience in a fast-paced environment is an added advantage
    • Degree in Human Resources Management, Law, etc

    Backend Engineer

    Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with engineering leads to aiding with architecture decisions for the application and supporting infrastructure.
    • Help develop and own release versioning control and related documentation
    • Design and implement testing and quality validation strategies.
    • Building Restful APIs, SDKs, backend features, micro-services and infrastructure.

    Technical & Professional Requirements:

    • Strong knowledge of NodeJS and relevant frameworks
    • Solid understanding of HTTP protocol and how server-side code is processed on the client
    • Experience with typescript
    • Strong working knowledge of Relational databases and NoSQL DB (Mongo DB)
    • SQL / Database Queries
    • Strong understanding of software development and design patterns
    • Good working knowledge of ORMs
    • Have a reasonable understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • Have strong experience creating and automating E2E tests.
    • An eye for detail is crucial
    • Able to handle multiple projects and competing deadlines
    • Experience with deploying code multiple times a day
    • Experience with Scrum/Agile methodologies (Jira)

    Relevant Experience:

    • 3 -5  years experience as a Backend Engineer 
    • An execution mindset, good analytic skills and a team-play attitude.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Prior experience working in fintech is an advantage.

    Frontend Engineer

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop features and improvements to our products in a secure, well-tested, and performant way
    • Work with Product Management and other stakeholders (Backend, UX, etc.) to iterate on new features.
    • Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
    • Consistently ship small features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members. Collaborate with the team on larger projects.
    • Help improve the overall experience of our product by improving the quality of the Frontend features.
    • Help identify areas of improvement in the code base, both specific to your group and outside your group (e.g., component library), and help contribute to make it better
    • Learn, collaborate, and teach other Frontend Engineers. Everyone can contribute something new to the team regardless of how long they’ve been in the industry.
    • Contribute to and follow our workflow process, alongside the rest of the Frontend Engineers.
    • Advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance that have impact across your team.
    • Solve technical problems of high scope and complexity.
    • Experience with performance and optimization problems, particularly at a large scale, and a demonstrated ability to diagnose and prevent these problems
    • Help define and improve our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
    • Consistently ship moderately sized features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members. Collaborate with the team on larger projects.
    • Improves the engineering projects at GitLab via maintainer trainee program at own comfortable pace, while striving to become a project maintainer. 
    • Help develop and own release versioning control and related documentation
    • Design and implement testing and quality validation strategies.

    Technical & Professional Requirements:

    • 3-5 years Professional experience with React and another modern JavaScript web framework (VueJs, Angular, etc.)
    • Experience with writing automated tests (e.g., Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, AVA, tape)
    • Experience using Git in a professional/workplace environment
    • A solid understanding in core web and browser concepts (e.g., how the browser parses and constructs a web page)
    • A solid understanding of semantic HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript concepts.
    • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment
    • Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions
    • Experience with performance and optimization problems and a demonstrated ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems
    • Comfort working in a highly agile, software development process
    • Positive and solution-oriented mindset
