    Technical Lead (Consulting) - Nigeria - (569)

    CNFA is preparing for an anticipated agriculture investment-promoting opportunity that will address the constraints of the overall agricultural business environment of Nigeria and improve the levels of agriculture-related investments. The Consultant will serve as a Technical Lead to design the strategy for the subject proposal and will work closely with the technical writer, other technical consultants, and the rest of the proposal team to provide inputs, comments, and feedback during the proposal draft development and submission. The consultancy is immediate and may require travel to Nigeria for a short reconnaissance trip.

    The illustrative tasks are provided below:

    • Complete the Research Guide.
    • Lead development of the technical approach and the partnership strategy and guide the proposal draft writing, collaboration, indicators, and results.
    • Draft sections of the technical approach as assigned.
    • Provide comments, reviews, and inputs for the color drafts.
    • Lead development of a list of potential partners and stakeholders with whom the project should collaborate; and lead and participate in calls with them and secure letters of commitment.
    • Provide input on the design of the organizational chart, management plan, staff position descriptions, project office locations, and collaboration narratives.
    • Provide other deliverables as requested, based on mutual agreement with a supervisor.

    Job Requirements

    Key Qualifications:

    • A Master’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, investment, finance, management, international development, or a related field of study or equivalent work experience is required. 
    • At least eight (8) years of experience serving as a senior technical professional on a US-donor-funded value chain initiative is required.
    • Successful experience in new business development in a capacity of a technical lead expert, and/or a lead technical writer is required.
    • Demonstrated experience working in finance and/or investment or related sector is required.
    • Experience providing technical oversight and leadership to facilitate expanded trade and competitiveness of agricultural value chains preferred.
    • Experience establishing and facilitating public-private partnerships is strongly preferred.
    • Experience overseeing value chain development or market systems development approach to improve a market access and development is strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain positive, collaborative, and productive relationships with government and other partners is required.
    • Experience working in West Africa, particularly in Nigeria strongly preferred.
    • Strong written and spoken fluency in English is required.
    • Understanding of local language(s) preferred.

    Staff Accountant-Accounts Payable - (666)

    The Staff Accountant will have responsibility for accounts payable, corporate credit card, prepaid accounts and other reconciliations and will assist the Corporate Controller with backup of other accounting and administrative activities as needed. 

    General Responsibilities

    The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of functions, including but not limited to:

    • Maintain Accounts Payable Ledger and Check Register;
    • Following CNFA established procedures review A/P vouchers for adequate documentation, accuracy, appropriateness, etc.;
    • Effects wire transfers and ACHs to CNFA subcontractors, vendors, field projects and regional offices in a timely manner in response to request in accordance with established procedures;
    • Outstanding account reconciliation which includes volunteer and staff advances, prepaid expenses, clearing accounts and corporate credit card accounts;
    • Deposit checks and update bank accounts on a weekly basis;
    • Collect W9 forms from USA vendors and tracking of payments for year-end 1099 reports;
    • Monitor bank account balances (money market & operating accounts);
    • Reviews and processes employees’ travel and general expense reports;
    • Verify accuracy of expenses and expense reporting;
    • Verify accuracy of accounting codes;
    • Verify vendor invoices for accuracy and run checks twice a week;
    • Follow-up work on collections and advance payments;
    • Maintain petty cash register;
    • Prepare invoices for rent and other expenses;
    • Maintenance of all equipment contracts;
    • Develop, enhance, and maintain automated financial reporting systems to track financial performance of CNFA and its affiliates using the Deltek Costpoint ERP system;
    • Maintains close working relationships with other divisions to ensure that volunteer activities, human resources activities, and office administration/procurement activities are properly recorded in the accounting system and assists staff from other departments in accounting/finance related problem solving.
    • Provides trainings as needed to departments within the organization to ensure proper dissemination of information;
    • Assists in the annual or any other internal or external audit process by preparing account analysis, audit samples, and respond to other requests for client assistance; and
    • Perform other duties as assigned.    

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience.
    • 3+ years of prior accounting and financial analysis experience;
    • Non-profit accounting experience;
    • Understanding of US Government rules and regulations; and
    • Familiarity with USAID, USDA, DFID or international development programming and practices.
    • Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint ERP system or a comparable accounting software;
    • Proficiency in Excel software;
    • A high degree of integrity, accountability, energy and flexibility;
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in fast-paced environment;
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously; and 
    • Excellent customer service skills;
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite required.  Proficiency with an accounting system such as Costpoint preferred.
