    Finance Manager

    Job Summary

    Our client, an indigenous agricultural commodity trading company is looking to hire a Finance Manager. The ideal candidate will provide leadership and guidance to the finance and accounting team, ensuring collaboration, efficiency, and adherence to financial goals. In addition, make informed and strategic decisions related to financial management, compliance, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance and accounting team, ensuring collaboration, efficiency, and adherence to financial goals.
    • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including recording, reporting, and internal-control processes, to ensure smooth cash flow compatible with company operations.
    • Ensure compliance with national and local financial regulations, staying updated on legislation changes, and taking necessary actions to maintain compliance.
    • Analyze revenue opportunities, internal operations, and economic trends. Identify areas for cost reduction, process enhancement, and operational efficiency within the finance department.
    • Assist in analyzing company liabilities and investments, contribute to managing capital structure, and support fundraising initiatives. Identify and manage financial risks in coordination with the CFO.
    • Monitor business performance using tracking tools, establish corrective measures when needed, and prepare detailed financial reports for review by the CFO and senior management.

    • Collaborate with other departments, integrating financial considerations into decision-making processes. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and investment evaluations.
    • Provide commercial insight and leadership across the business, assisting in exceeding business plan targets by leveraging financial expertise.
    • Oversee financial IT systems, collaborate with IT teams to maintain and enhance financial software tools and technologies.
    • Effectively communicate financial data and insights within the finance team and with other departments. 
    • Collaborate with the CFO in providing strategic recommendations to the CEO/President and the executive management team.
    • Continuously assess financial processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose improvements to enhance productivity and accuracy within the finance department.

    Requirements

    • HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance or any related course. 
    • MSc is an added advantage.
    • A minimum of 5-7 years experience as a head of finance or a similar role.
    • Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CMA or CPA is compulsory.

    COMPETENCIES

    • Advanced proficiency in MS Office packages, ERPs and financial management software.
    • Established knowledge of accounting packages
    • In-depth understanding of GAAP and IFRS.

    Chief Finance Manager

    Job Summary

    Our client, an indigenous agricultural commodity trading company is looking to hire a Chief Finance Officer (CFO). The ideal candidate will be responsible for the Business Financial Strategy and the overall financial risks of the company. In addition, manage and lead financial initiatives of the company, oversee the finance team and aid on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to financial management, reporting, budget management, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting needs, securing new funding, treasury management, payroll and customer payment process for the organization.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance and accounting team.
    • Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization
    • Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows.
    • Comply with national and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and taking appropriate action.
    • Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement

    Requirements

    • B.Sc. in Accounting or any related field
    • MBA/M.Sc. in a related field will be an added advantage.
    • Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, CFA) is compulsory.
    • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, with at least the last 3 spent in a similar role.
    • Experience in export operations & supply chain.

    COMPETENCIES

    Inventory Manager/Stock Accountant

    Job Summary

    Our client, an indigenous agricultural commodity trading company is looking to hire an inventory manager/stock accountant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing inventory management strategies and policies to optimize stock levels, reduce carrying costs, and ensure efficient operations. In addition, make decisions related to stock levels, order prioritization, quality control, supplier relationships, technology integration, process improvements, returns handling, contract execution, compliance, inventory valuation, training, supervision, continuous improvement, and cost control to optimize inventory operations in the company.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement inventory management strategies and policies to optimize stock levels, reduce carrying costs, and ensure efficient operations.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to the Stock Account Officers, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities and are effectively executing them.
    • Collaborate with the sales team to prioritize the distribution of outgoing orders and ensure timely deliveries to customers.
    • Oversee all warehouses (Akure, Sagamu, Ikom, Kano, and Lagos) to ensure proper stock storage, organization, and security. Monitor stock movements in and out of these warehouses.
    • Ensure that stock loaded out of the warehouse reaches its destination with the same weight and in good condition. Implement quality control measures to prevent stock damage or losses.
    • Instruct warehouse managers on contracts to be executed after obtaining all necessary approvals. Ensure that all contract terms and conditions are met.
    • Validate all regulatory processing of returned goods and oversee the proper handling and documentation of return processes, both at the federal and state levels.
    • Conduct regular stock valuations to assess the value of inventory on hand and report this information accurately for financial purposes.
    • Provide the necessary support and records for month-end close, audit, and year-end financial statement preparation. Ensure that inventory-related financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
    • Generate daily inventory level reports to track stock levels, movement, and trends, enabling informed decision-making.
    • Implement and manage inventory management software or systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy in stock tracking and reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and industry standards in stock management and reporting.
    • Work on strategies to minimize inventory carrying costs, such as storage and insurance expenses, while maintaining optimal stock levels.
    • Identify areas for improvement in inventory management processes and implement changes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to optimize lead times, order quantities, and quality control, ensuring a smooth supply chain.
    • Use historical data and market trends to forecast future inventory needs, helping the company to meet customer demand effectively.

    Responsibilities

    • Exercise the leadership in collaboration within the business to execute vision and direction for risk management across the company ensuring the risk framework and function is proportionate to the scale and complexity of the activities undertaken by the company. 
    • Manage continuous reviews of the entity’s risk management policy and framework to ensure it remains fit for purpose. 
    • Deliver high-level reporting on risk management to the Managing Director and the Board in executive management and governance committees.
