    Communications Coordinator

    About the Role

    • As Andela Nigeria’s Communications Coordinator, you will work with a global team responsible for communicating Andela’s mission and value prop to a variety of external audiences. Reporting to the Senior Communication Manager for Africa, you will oversee Andela’s communications strategy and ensure that we’re building a cohesive global brand.

    Responsibilities
    The key attributes for this role are:

    • Leadership, team building and cross-cultural skills: You have experience leading strong teams made up of young and dynamic high achievers. It is also important that you have demonstrated an understanding of what it takes to work with high performance teams and a best-in-class Communications department.
    • Creative problem solving: You solve problems by creatively engaging with stakeholders externally with independence and fluency. You develop conceptual frameworks that guide problem solving analysis. You draw sound conclusions based upon a mixture of analysis and experience. You demonstrate content expertise through problem solving from multiple contexts.
    • Strategic thinking and storytelling: Identify press-worthy stories within Andela and have a strong ability to think strategically and plan for the future. You are able to conceptualise, plan and execute communication strategies that engage Andela’s target audience, while also facilitating increases in engagements and impressions generated.
    • Public speaking and ability to groom others: You have the capacity to multitask across teams and have the confidence to speak and also groom others to speak confidently in alignment to the core message of Andela.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage strategic and crisis communication: You develop and maintain strong relationships with Andela’s senior management, staff, external agencies, press outlets, and others to engage them and support effective communication within and outside of the organization. You are responsible for managing strategic and crisis communication should the need arise.
    • Media relations and stakeholder management in Nigeria: You will have demonstrated an ability to engage with 360 media across different channels in Nigeria. Also understand the tech ecosystem and must have built strong relationship with Tech leaders who can easily be approached to understand the goals and objectives of Andela.
    • Writing skills: Prepare speaking brief + talking points creation + setting up in-person prep with Engineers and executives who have speaking engagements. Also coordinate the team to ensure a great EPIC Tower experience for guests.

    Typical day-to-day would involve:

    • Leading Andela Nigeria’s Communications team in planning and executing a number of strategic initiatives across PR and digital marketing to bolster Andela’s presence in Nigeria.
    • Overseeing communications strategy in Nigeria and effectively managing the team to ensure success of key initiatives
    • Serving as the Africa liaison to the global Andela Communications team and ensuring all initiatives are aligned with the company’s core messaging and brand identity
    • Owning the Lagos press strategy, working closely with Lagos leadership and Andela’s global Communications team to secure high-quality media coverage
    • Supporting the Nigeria leadership team in driving engagement among the Tech Eco system through communications initiatives
    • Working across departments to identify what stories to pitch or tell that will in turn influence the brand’s reputation and image.
    • Grooming leaders and engineers to be confident enough to share their story with external stakeholders that will in turn drive more applications.
    • Ensure 100% brand consistency in key messaging internally and externally
    • Media monitoring - online (news website and blogs)
    • Coordinate Andela participation at external events in Lagos / pan-Africa
    • Identify and pitch speaking engagements for executives and engineers.

    Senior Director, Workforce Planning

    Locations: Cairo, Egypt, Lagos, Nigeria, Nairobi, Kenya

    Job Purpose

    • As a new function, Workforce Planning is responsible for ensuring that Andela’s engineering talent supply is demand-driven and market responsive. The group’s mandate is to ensure Andela has the right talent at the right time to deliver value to our current and future customers.

    About the Role

    • You are a structured, motivated leader eager to drive the newly-built Workforce Planning function at Andela and bring it to the next level. Your group will drive meaningful impact for our customers, our engineers and our organization. As the leader of an important new business function in its early stages, you will demonstrate a high degree of ownership and drive a clear vision with diverse stakeholders.
    • The mandate of your team is to manage the bench of engineers to achieve optimal levels of available supply based on market demand, and will require a strong understanding of commercial requirements and People-related practices.
    • The current team is a small and versatile group of folks who spike in analytical thinking, project and stakeholder management, and getting stuff done. As the leader of this team, you will need to be an adaptable team player who is capable of wearing multiple hats and driving commercial outcomes through operational efficiency and innovation.

    Responsibilities

    • Create and drive strategy of Workforce Planning team; clearly define team’s mandate and the role of the bench within Andela’s business strategy
    • Ensure attainment of revenue, cost management, and utilization goals through investments in Andela’s engineering talent workforce efficacy
    • Continuously improve Andela’s talent forecasting/capacity planning through segmentation and analysis
    • Maintain excellent relationships via strong stakeholder management, and communication practices at all levels of the organization
    • Interact with engineering talent in thoughtful, operationally excellent, clear, honest, and empathetic ways
    • Leverage your context of both demand and supply to consult around processes, models, calculations, assumptions and business impacts.

    Requirements

    • A completed Bachelor's Degree at a minimum; MBA is a plus
    • 9+ years Management experience in a workforce planning / supply chain / operations management environment / professional services marketplace
    • Ability to lead, teach and develop managers to deliver key organizational goals
    • Demonstrated success with program & process management in highly cross-functional, rapidly growing and changing business
    • Exceptional analytical thinking ability and comfortable analyzing data to extract and communicate findings or next steps
    • Ability to develop and implement talent optimization processes and procedures across geographically distributed teams, in collaboration with other department leaders
    • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate strategy into operational plans and business results
    • Strong track record of recommending policy requirements and rolling out clear, new procedures that affect large groups of employees
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience with managing large-scale organizational change
    • Experience working remotely and/or with larger groups of talent is an asset
    • Ability to travel - once a quarter, determined by business need.

    Director, Engineer Growth and Development

    About the Role

    • We are seeking an experienced learning professional to develop our world class engineering talent.  You will be responsible for designing, implementing and executing the learning and development of our engineers based on our engineering competency framework. This includes focusing on the moments that matter for example onboarding distributed engineers at scale to be customer ready, and a professional development program with tailored pathways to continually develop our world class talent for our customers, as well as providing a transformative once in a lifetime career for our engineers.
    • You will be part of the Growth & Development team within the People function. You will lead a small but mighty team, and partner closely with your other colleagues in the Growth & Development team and Engineering HR Business Partners. Your key business stakeholder is the Partner Engineering organization, responsible for delivery of engineering services to our customers, and you will also be expected to collaborate with many other teams. The key metrics you will focus on are both customer and engineer satisfaction and retention.
    • The ideal candidate is excited by a fast paced growing environment with a background in learning, specifically for engineering or technical teams. You are structured and organized in your approach with the ability to design programs easily understood and digested by our engineers. Your stakeholder leadership skills are exemplary, you can navigate challenges and influence others.     Responsibilities

    • Continually assess and define learning requirements: Understand business objectives specifically the need to deliver brilliant engineering services to our customers and define the associated learning requirement based on our engineering competency framework.
    • Design end to end program: Define a holistic program along all touchpoints of an engineer’s journey to deliver value to our customers and transformative career experience to engineers.
    • Launch programs: Execute the programs with comprehensive change management to ensure awareness and engagement of the program to all stakeholders.
    • Continually measure impact of programs: Measure programs based on business objectives and strive for continual improvement, never settling for just ok.
    • Stakeholder collaboration: Work with multiple stakeholders across the business to design, deliver, measure and improve the learning offering. Andela is a matrixed organization and the ability to collaborate is key to success.
    • Leverage external tech communities: As required bring in experts in the tech ecosystem to supplement the program.
    • Inspire engineers with learning programs: Focus on the marketing and branding of programs to inspire success from our engineers and a world class program for world class talent.
    • Lead and develop your team: Guide, coach and support your teams to deliver impact for Andela and for themselves.
    • Retention: Understand moments that matter and engagement strategies for employee and customer retention and align program to support retention.

    Requirements

    • 10+ years experience in Learning & Development role, ideally working with technical teams
    • 3+ years experience leading teams and or a function
    • The willingness to travel up to 10% of the time
    • A Growth Mindset; the openness to learn new things to continually improve and the ability to learn from your mistakes and failures
    • Openness to change and adaptability or experience working in a high-growth fast paced changing organization
    • Able to thrive in a diverse, globally distributed team, ideally with experience working in a global organization.
