    Assistant Lecturer (Nursing Science)

     JOB PURPOSE

    • The Assistant Lecturer in Nursing Science is a clinical-academic incubatee—grounded in professional nursing practice, developing scholarly depth, and trained to integrate evidence-based care, community health impact, digital health tools, and ethical leadership within African health systems. The job purpose is to support undergraduate teaching and clinical instruction, participate in research and skills-lab delivery, and undergo structured academic and professional development toward full lecturing responsibilities in Nursing Science.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Teaching & Clinical Instruction: Assist in delivering undergraduate Nursing courses (theory, skills-lab, clinical postings). Support OSCEs, simulations, tutorials, and continuous assessment in line with C-CMAS and NMCN standards. Assist in examination administration, grading, and results processing.
    • Clinical Practice & Skills Development: Participate in skills-lab instruction (fundamentals, medical-surgical, maternal & child health, mental health). Support supervised clinical postings in accredited teaching hospitals/health facilities.
    • Research & Scholarship: Participate in departmental research, data collection, audits, and co-authored publications. Assist in grant proposals, quality-improvement studies, and community health research. Innovation, Extension & Community Health: Support community health outreaches, primary health initiatives, and public-health education. Participate in digital health, patient-safety, and quality-of-care initiatives.
    • Academic Development & Service: Enrol and make satisfactory progress toward a PhD (Nursing or closely related). Assist in departmental administration and committees as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • B.NSc. (Nursing Science) from a recognised university and M.Sc. in Nursing (any recognised specialty).
    • Current registration and valid practising licence with NMCN.

    Academic Qualifications (Mandatory)

    • B.NSc. (Nursing Science) from a recognised university and M.Sc. in Nursing (any recognised specialty).
    • Current registration and valid practising licence with NMCN.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

    • 3 years post-qualification experience (clinical, academic, or blended). Teaching assistantship/clinical preceptorship is an advantage.

    Lecturer I (Agribusiness)

     JOB PURPOSE

    • At UAST Ihugh, Lecturer I marks the threshold of academic maturity.
    • A Lecturer I is expected to function as a fully independent academic, capable of owning courses, leading applied research, contributing to innovation ecosystems, mentoring junior staff, and translating agribusiness knowledge into measurable societal and enterprise impact, especially within African food systems.

    • A minimum of three (3) years post-promotion experience as Lecturer II or equivalent academic experience.
    • Demonstrable record of independent teaching, research and institutional service.

    Lecturer II (Agribusiness)

    • JOB PURPOSE
    • To deliver independent undergraduate teaching, initiate and advance scholarly research, contribute meaningfully to agribusiness innovation and extension, and participate actively in the academic, administrative and developmental functions of the University, in alignment with UAST Ihugh’s mandate for research-driven knowledge transfer, and enterprise-driven, sustainable and Africa-relevant agriculture.

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Teaching and Learning:

    • Independently teach undergraduate courses in Agribusiness and related areas.
    • Develop course outlines, lecture materials and assessments in compliance with NUC C-CMAS.
    • Supervise undergraduate projects and seminars.
    • Apply innovative, field-based and problem-solving teaching methods aligned with UAST pedagogy.

    Research and Scholarly Output:

    • Conduct independent and collaborative research in Agribusiness and Food Systems.
    • Publish scholarly articles in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
    • Participate in conferences, workshops and academic seminars.

    Innovation, Enterprise and Extension:

    Assistant Lecturer (Agribusiness)

    KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Teaching and Learning Support

    • Assist in teaching undergraduate courses in Agribusiness and related areas.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Academic Qualifications (Mandatory)

    • A good Bachelor’s degree (First Class or Second Class Upper Division) in:

      • Agribusiness
      • Agricultural Economics
      • Agricultural Extension & Rural Development
      • Agricultural Management
    • or a closely related discipline from a recognised university.
    • A Master’s degree in Agribusiness or a related discipline.
    • Evidence of active enrolment in a relevant PhD programme could serve an added advantage.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

    • 3 years relevant post-graduation experience.
    • Prior experience in research assistance, agribusiness enterprises, extension services, NGOs, cooperatives or agrifood industry shall be an added advantage.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

    • Foundational knowledge of agribusiness and agricultural value chains.
    • Basic competence in farm budgeting, market analysis or economic evaluation.
