    Consultant Anaesthetist

    Job Purpose

    • The Consultant Anaesthetist will be responsible for providing expert anaesthetic care to patients undergoing surgical and diagnostic procedures within the Cardiovascular & Theatres directorate. This role is critical for ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process, from pre-operative assessment through to post-operative recovery. The role holder will deliver comprehensive anaesthesia services, lead anaesthesia teams during complex cases, and maintain the highest standards of clinical practice. 
    • The role holder will demonstrate advanced clinical skills, strong leadership, and a deep commitment to optimizing surgical outcomes and enhancing the patient experience.

    Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

    Pre-operative & Perioperative Care

    • Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments to determine patient suitability for anaesthesia, including airway evaluation and risk stratification.
    • Administer general, regional, and sedation techniques based on individual patient needs and surgical requirements, with special focus on cardiovascular procedures.
    • Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and anaesthetic depth during surgical procedures, responding promptly to any changes in condition.

    Junior Consultant Haematology

    Job Objective

    • The Junior Consultant, Haematology will provide specialist clinical care for patients with benign and malignant haematological disorders under the supervision of Consultant Haematology. The role holder will support the safe delivery of blood products, assist in the management of transfusion-related cases, contribute to the clinical apheresis service, and promote evidence-based practice, patient safety, and continuous quality improvement across the haematology and transfusion medicine service.

    Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

    Clinical Haematology & Patient Management

    • Conduct daily ward rounds and outpatient consultations for patients with haematological disorders including leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, anaemias, coagulopathies, and transfusion-dependent conditions.
    • Assist in the management of complex cases such as massive haemorrhage, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), and patients with complex red cell antibodies under consultant supervision.
    • Perform and interpret bone marrow aspiration, trephine biopsy, and peripheral blood smear reviews.
    • Prescribe and monitor chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and anticoagulation according to evidence-based protocols.
    • Provide on-call coverage for haematology and transfusion medicine emergencies, including urgent apheresis and massive transfusion activation.

    Job Purpose

    • The Consultant Neurologist will be responsible for providing expert diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with neurological disorders. This role is critical for delivering high-quality neurological care, including the management of stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, and neuroinfections.

    Job Purpose

    • The Senior Registrar in Palliative Care will provide advanced specialist care to patients with life-limiting illnesses, focusing on pain management, symptom control, and psychosocial support.
