    Operations Manager

    About the Role

    • The Operations Manager will work closely with the Head of Operations to support the effective running of the company.
    • The role involves the ongoing management of ART X’s Information and Project Management, Human Resources and Administration, Finance and Legal/Contract Management, liaising with key stakeholders, as well as key departments within the company.
    • The Operations Manager will manage the office day to day, ensuring that the company’s policies and procedures are adhered to, and providing the optimum enabling environment for the fulfilment of the company’s strategic goals.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage and execute key business support functions, including Admin, HR, Information Management, Project Management, Accounting and Legal, working closely with the Head of Operations and professional support agencies/advisers where relevant
    • Coordinate and collaborate with internal stakeholders to enable, support and improve day-to-day business operations and processes, with the goal of enhancing operations and company-wide efficiency
    • Support the Head of Operations on key personnel/ agency management and procurement negotiations, including the review of legal contracts and Heads of Terms
    • Work closely with the Head of Operations to ensure timely planning, management and tracking of company operations and activities, in the line with the business plans
    • Provide support in maintaining the company, departmental and individual project budgets and tracking related expenditures
    • Execute on talent strategy around maximizing the employee experience, including recruitment, onboarding and support of new employees, coordinating with department heads to perform regular employee evaluations to determine areas of improvement etc
    • Custodian of the company’s information (archives) and inventory assets, ensuring effective organisation and ease of accessibility
    • Coordinate and execute daily office management and other office administrative duties
    • Handle problems and issues related to daily operational activities
    • Always be breast of and ensure that the right processes, systems, tools and structures are in place to keep the company in-line with best practices, policies, standards and relevant regulations, health and safety rules, etc to run effectively
    • Other tasks as assigned by the Head of Operations.

    Requirements

    Curatorial Project Manager

    About the Role

    • ART X is seeking a Curatorial Project Manager with 6-8 years’ experience, to join our dynamic team.
    • This role is ideal for a creative, visionary self-starter who harbours the desire to sustain a longterm career in the field of curation, and who also lives and breathes efficiency through expedient project management.
    • It presents an opportunity to contribute to ART X’s evolving role as a catalyst for the creative industry, and to the growth and success of African talent on the regional and global stage.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop project management plans to execute the company’s curatorial strategy, in alignment with its mission and overarching goals
    • Serve as the principal coordinating liaison between the curatorial department, and other company departments including the events, marketing and operations departments, to ensure the seamless, effective execution of all plans
    • Support guest curators across all programming and curatorial initiatives, such as the ART X Prize, Art Across Borders, Special Projects, ART X Live!, ART X Talks and more, focusing especially on execution and production, with duties also including but not limited to research, content development, artist management, text editing, exhibition design and installation
    • Lead the design, planning and execution of community and educational programmes, ensuring alignment with core curatorial programming
    • Develop effective systems of measurement and evaluation (including training of exhibition personnel), to assess the impact of exhibitions, programmes and curatorial initiatives, producing detailed evaluations and reports
    • Member of the Exhibition Design team, with a proactive focus on the production and logistics schemes required to give effect to the design strategy
    • Supporting member of the Exhibitor Relations team, involved in the review and management of the fair’s exhibitors - this also includes supporting the Selection Committee and the Exhibition Design Committee
    • Support the Marketing, Events and other departments as required with programme and product design, proposal development, written and image content, and other specialised tasks
    • Grow the company’s relationships with artist and art practitioner communities within Nigeria, across Africa and beyond - collaborating with industry stakeholders to develop programming and curatorial initiatives, and identify meaningful gaps for the company
    • Stay abreast of industry developments and innovations, to ensure the company’s curatorial initiatives remain poignant and cutting-edge
    • Manage budgets, timelines, resources and administrative responsibilities effectively to ensure the timely and successful delivery of all projects.

    Deputy Fair Director

    About the Role

    • ART X is seeking a Deputy Fair Director for ART X Lagos and its affiliate platforms, with 10 or more years’ experience, to join our dynamic team.
    • Working closely with the Founder, the Deputy Fair Director will become responsible for the ART X Lagos vertical, and will ultimately spearhead its general management and strategic development, building on the strong foundations laid to date.
    • The Deputy Fair Director will reinforce ART X Lagos’ distinct artistic vision, growing its scope and scale, and its impact on audiences locally and internationally, working at the highest levels of creativity and organisation to showcase the best of the world to Lagos, and the best of Nigeria and Africa to the world.

    • General management of the ART X Lagos fair and its affiliate platforms and ancillary programmes, coordinating relevant departments and support functions to meet the platform’s pioneering goals, and ensuring consistency with ART X’s core mission and vision
    • Oversee the fair’s exhibitor strategy, leading the onboarding of galleries, and the review and management of their exhibitions, in conjunction with the Selection Committee
    • Support the development (by our in-house and guest curators), of exhibitions and programmes that excite and engage a broad cross-section of audiences, and are distinctive to the ART X Lagos DNA
    • Amplify the guest experience by coordinating ART X Lagos’ exhibition design and events management, producing focused, curated experiences that are vital to the fair’s unique position globally
    • Grow the fair’s VIP and Guest Relations strategy, devising compelling initiatives to win new audiences and strengthen pre-existing stakeholder relationships
    • Augment and generate, core and supplementary revenue streams for the business, leveraging the ART X Lagos brand, its personnel and infrastructure, especially during the fair’s off-peak season; Collaborate closely with the marketing, sponsorship and administrative departments, to capitalise on commercial opportunities for the business
    • Manage budgets, timelines, resources and personnel to ensure the timely, successful execution of all plans; Motivate a team of internal and external colleagues, ensuring high levels of management practice across the board, as well as the team’s commitment to ART X Lagos’ continued evolving development
    • Vigilant guardian of the ART X Lagos brand, ensuring that every expression of its identity remains steadfastly aligned with the overarching vision and values
    • Oversee measurement and evaluation across the board, to assess the fair’s impact and ROI

    • Curate and manage narrative and brand-owned assets across various channels, including but not limited to websites, social media, videos/short films, email newsletter campaigns, catalogues and publications, editorial articles, visuals, and graphic assets
    • Collaborate closely with participating sponsors, galleries, artists and other stakeholders, strategising marketing approaches to capitalise on the full spectrum of opportunities surrounding ART X Lagos events and initiatives
    • Drive cross-functional collaborative efforts to ensure that communication strategies are leveraged to strengthen product development and overall audience experience; Proactive participation in the company’s sponsorship and fundraising efforts, and the pursuit of its commercial opportunities, contributing to the achievement of its strategic and financial plans
