    Grant Specialist

    Responsibilities:

    Grant Research and Identification

    • Identify and research potential grant opportunities from government agencies, private foundations, and other funding sources.
    • Stay informed about trends and changes in grant funding and compliance requirements.
    • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential funders, including venture capital firms, angel investors, and strategic partners.

    Proposal Development

    • Prepare and write grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and required documentation.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather data and information needed for proposals.
    • Ensure proposals are well-organized, compelling, and submitted promptly.
    • In consultation with the Finance and Strategy teams, prepare and refine pitch decks, financial projections, and other fundraising materials.

    Grant Administration

    • Manage and monitor grant budgets, ensuring expenditures are aligned with grant requirements and organizational policies.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of grant applications, approvals, and reports.
    • Prepare and submit grant reports and other documentation as required by funders.
    • Compliance and Reporting
    • Ensure compliance with all grant terms, conditions, and regulations.
    • Conduct regular reviews of grant-funded projects and/or initiatives to ensure adherence to funding guidelines.
    • Provide guidance and support to project teams on compliance issues.

    Communication and Liaison

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for grant-related inquiries from funders and stakeholders.
    • Build and maintain relationships with funders, partners, and internal teams.
    • Prepare and present grant updates and reports to management and the Board of Directors as needed.
    • Stay informed about fundraising trends and opportunities in the African healthcare and health technology sectors.

    Training and Support

    • Provide training and support to staff on grant-related processes and best practices.
    • Assist with the development of grant-related policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Strong understanding of the African investment landscape, particularly in West Africa.
    • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
    • Proven track record of successfully raising capital for startups, preferably in the healthcare, tech, or e-commerce sector.
    • Excellent network of investor contacts in relevant sectors.
    • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret grant guidelines and regulations.
    • Proficiency in grant management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

    Group Head, Human Resources and Admin

    Responsibilities:

     Human Resources

    • Oversee the Group’s HR function, ensuring strategies and policies support organizational objectives.
    • Develop and implement talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning frameworks to attract and retain top talent.
    • Drive performance management processes and build capability for leadership and professional development within the Group.  Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to ensure a workplace that values and supports all employees.
    • Lead the development of competitive compensation and benefits programs to maintain internal equity and external competitiveness.

    Employee Engagement and Culture

    • Drive employee engagement initiatives to enhance satisfaction, productivity, and retention.
    • Collaborate with Exco members to promote and embed the Group’s core values and culture across all companies.  
    • Develop training and development programs to ensure continuous improvement of skills and knowledge at all levels.

    Administrative Oversight

    • Provide strategic leadership for shared services, including procurement, facilities management, and health & safety.
    • Oversee the implementation of efficient administrative systems and processes to support business operations.
    • Ensure workplace safety and compliance with health and environmental regulations.

    Compliance and Risk Management

    • Develop and maintain HR and administrative policies to ensure compliance with labor laws, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.  
    • Supervise regular audits and compliance reviews to identify and mitigate risks.
    • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams to address complex workforce and administrative challenges.

    Strategic Leadership and Advisory

    • Partner with the executive leadership team to align HR and administrative strategies with organizational objectives.
    • Leverage HR analytics to monitor performance metrics and provide insights for decision-making.
    • Lead change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions during restructuring or process optimization.

    Professional Leadership  

    • Mentor and coach HR and Administrative Teams across the Group to build leadership capacity.
    • Represent the organization at industry forums and stakeholder engagements to enhance its reputation as an employer of choice.

    Qualifications:

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is required. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

    Certifications

    • Professional HR certifications such as SHRM-SCP, CIPD Level 7, or SPHR are highly desirable.

    Experience

    • At least 15 years of progressive HR and administrative leadership experience.  
    • A minimum of 5 years in an executive or senior leadership role in a multi-entity organization.
    • Experience in the healthcare, insurance, or technology sectors is an added advantage.

    General Counsel/ Company Secretary

    Responsibilities:

    Legal and Compliance:

    • Lead and manage the legal and compliance function, ensuring timely legal guidance and risk mitigation.
    • Develop, implement, and monitor company-wide compliance programs in alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Advise the Board, CEO, and senior management on legal, regulatory, and industry matters affecting the business.
    • Oversee corporate contracts, agreements, litigation, intellectual property management, and other legal activities.
    • Provide legal support in areas such as corporate governance, risk management, and business ethics.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks including anti-money laundering (AML), anti-bribery, and data protection laws.
    • Conduct internal compliance audits, investigations, and regulatory reporting, ensuring adherence to legal obligations.
    • Stay current on legal and regulatory developments and provide proactive guidance on compliance risks.

    Company Secretarial:

    • Serve as the Company Secretary, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory corporate governance requirements.
    • Organize and attend Board meetings, shareholder meetings, and related corporate events, preparing agendas, resolutions, and minutes.
    • Facilitate communication between the Board, senior leadership, and shareholders, ensuring the timely flow of critical information.
    • Ensure the company’s legal entities maintain compliance with corporate filing requirements, including corporate registers, filings with regulators, and other statutory obligations.
    • Provide advice on corporate governance best practices, shareholder agreements, and structuring of legal entities.

    Leadership and Strategy:

    • Lead, mentor, and manage the Legal and Compliance team to deliver high-quality support across the organization.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to align the legal and compliance strategy with the company’s objectives, risk tolerance, and business goals.
    • Provide ongoing legal and compliance training to employees to enhance awareness and compliance throughout the organization.
    • Act as a strategic advisor to the executive team, helping to identify and manage legal and regulatory risks proactively.

    Other Responsibilities:

    • Manage external legal advisors and service providers, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective legal support.
    • Lead or support major transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
    • Oversee the legal aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Education & Certifications:

    • Minimum Education: LLB (Bachelor of Laws) degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
    • Preferred: Postgraduate qualification (LL.M) or professional certification in corporate governance (e.g., ICSA).

    Experience:

    • At least 10 years of experience in legal, compliance, and governance roles, with 5+ years in a leadership position.
    • Proven track record in managing legal and compliance functions at a senior level, particularly in corporate governance and company secretarial duties.
    • Extensive experience in advising on corporate contracts, mergers & acquisitions, intellectual property, and dispute resolution.
    • Familiarity with key regulatory frameworks (e.g., AML, GDPR, anti-bribery, securities laws, etc.), with experience ensuring company-wide adherence.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage Board-level matters and effectively communicate with senior stakeholders.
