    IP Engineer

    Department: Technical

    Responsibilities

    • The IP Engineer will be responsible for designing, integrating and implementing IP based services on the Main One network.

    Other responsibilities include:

    • Providing innovative network solutions and engaging OEMs when required.
    • Driving the MainOne IPv6 strategy
    • Network design, planning, administration and maintenance. 
    • IP multicast setup and IOS-XE, IOS-XR router deployments
    • Ensuring knowledge transfer for level-1 IPNOC. 
    • Troubleshooting and resolving WAN/LAN connectivity issues.
    • Managing bandwidth of the IP backbone for optimal performance.
    • Performing routine checks and maintenance on all network elements.
    • Routing protocol troubleshooting experience in a large scale network (BGP, IS-IS OSPF, EIGRP)
    • Strong experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches.
    • Monitoring of network elements and ensuring prompt repair and restoration of all faulty/down sites/links.
    • Installation, configuration and maintenance of network equipment such as routers, switches and firewalls like Cisco ASA, Fortigate
    • Exploring existing knowledge base and make recommendation to improve systems, solutions and processes

    Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

    • Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science or related field
    • Minimum years of Experience: 3
    • Relevant professional/technical certifications like CCNP, JNCIS, (CCIE is an advantage)
    • Good presentation skills
    • Relationship Management skills
    • Time & self-management skills
    • Ability to work well under pressure 
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Good knowledge of networking technologies - TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, VPNs, EVPN, VxLAN, SDWAN, SDN etc.
    • Hands on experience configuring Firewalls, Cisco and Juniper routers, 
    • Service provider experience in technologies like MPLS L2VPN,L3VPN,ISIS,BGP, Segment Routing
    • Proven capacity in designing and implementing complex, high performance networks with multiple locations and applications, preferably service provider networks. 
    • Scripting knowledge is an added advantage

    IP NOC Engineer

    Responsibilities

    • The IP NOC engineer will be responsible for proactive monitoring of Transmission and IP devices across MainOne’s network through the support of Network monitoring systems, perform first-line troubleshooting/fault isolation, resolve where necessary and escalate to other levels for support in line with MainOne’s internal processes

    Other responsibilities include:

    • Monitor Main One’s network providing a specific update, status, and performance of all network components, capacity services etc.
    • Identify and provide at least first-line support on all faults on the Main One network in accordance with the Company’s standard operating procedure for fault escalation and management.
    • Maintain and ensure full compliance with all Main One’s NOC processes and procedures.
    • Ensure proper technical documentation of all network events throughout normal/shift cycles or operations.
    • Answer all network support related telephone calls and interface with internal/external customers on operational issues and related network events, using Main One’s standard operating procedures.
    • Run daily and weekly management reports on network events and activities as well as tracking escalations and other key performance indicators and ensure all customer SLAs are met.

    Demands of the Job

    • Will be ready to work on 24 X 7 base depending on the shift roaster to man the network surveillance tools.  
    • Also, should be ready to travel to support other MainOne Operations in Africa and beyond.

    Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

    • Candidates should possess a B.Sc / HND in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
    • 2-3 years’ experience in the configuration, operations and maintenance of optical fiber SDH and wireless network equipment.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong Knowledge of Synchronous Digital Hierarchy technology
    • Strong Knowledge of DWDM/OTN technology  
    • Strong knowledge of PtP/PtMP Microwave technologies
    • Knowledge of basic TCP/IP configurations and troubleshooting
    • Excellent and effective communications skills, both orally and in writing
    • Ability to use OTDR, E-Analyzer, SDH Analyzer, power meter and other signal testing tools/instruments
    • Working Knowledge of Huawei OSN series equipment.
    • Working knowledge of Ubiquiti or Ceragon radio.
    • Working knowledge of IP devices will be a plus.

    Assistant Manager, L2 Technical Support

    Location: Ajah, Lagos

    Responsibilities

    • Proactively identifying potential issues that could lead to network and/or service breakdown. 
    • Level two (L2) technical support interface for all L2 technical issues from the GNOC team and others, as the case maybe.
    • Drive visibility and effectively manage repeat network/service and CX issues, across board and in a timely manner.
    • Lead manage of specific customer & network facing planned maintenances
    • From time to time advise the business on network & customer solution inherent risks and mitigation plan to address and prevent them from becoming issues for the network and customers.
    • Escalations Prioritization, in terms of handling, in accordance with the approved OLAs for service segmentation e.g. High Capacity, High Profiled, Prime, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Mercury.
    • Drive and Manage upward technical interactions (L3 Support, Network Planning & OEMs) in a timely manner and in ways that ensure that network and customers interests are protected
    • Low level planning (i.e. upgrade, downgrade, service performance improvement etc.) of network and services in operations with the aim of improving performance and reducing Operation, Administration & Maintenance (OAM) cost.
