    Head of Facilities Management, Africa

    About You and The Role  

    • We seek an exceptional Head of Facilities Management to oversee the operational integrity and efficiency of Zipline’s office and operational facilities across five countries: Ghana, Rwanda, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, and Kenya as well as others as the company grows. 
    • This role is critical to ensuring efficient and safe operations as well and fostering a world class working environment for the cross functional teams that rely on these spaces. 
    • The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in facility coordination, maintenance oversight, mechanical engineering and team leadership to enhance operational performance and cost effectiveness across all locations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Key asset maintenance: Developing best practices for the team to track and maintain key moveable and immovable assets, ensuring correct use, maintenance, repair and spare parts across 14 individual locations.
    • Driving Workplace Safety: You will ensure that all facilities adhere to both local and organizational safety standards by supervising the development and execution of comprehensive safety protocols. You will regularly monitor safety performance and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain a secure working environment.
    • Leading Functional Development: You will build and cultivate a highly skilled, resource-efficient facilities team by driving training, skill-building initiatives, and continuous professional development. You will promote operational excellence and the efficient use of resources, contributing to the long-term success and scalability of Zipline’s operations.
    • Administering Documentation and Reporting: You oversee facility-related documentation and records, ensuring that all necessary communications, reports, and action items are managed accurately and promptly. You will maintain an organized filing system for all facility-related documents and support the coordination of virtual meetings and appointments.
    • Stakeholder Coordination and Engagement: You will facilitate high-level coordination and communication between cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership. You will organize and lead meetings with internal and external parties to align priorities and ensure that all facility operations meet Zipline’s strategic objectives.

    Qualifications

    • Education: Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Industrial Engineering degree preferred
    • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management or a related field, preferably at a manufacturing plant, commercial property or public utility.
    • Expertise: Strong proficiency in facilities operations, maintenance and asset management, energy optimization, construction and permitting. Demonstrated ability to optimize facility performance and drive operational efficiency in a multi-country setting.
    • Leadership: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage remote teams effectively, ensuring performance excellence while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
    • Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, both remotely and in-person.
    • Technical Skills: Expertise in general data analysis, thermodynamics, capacity planning and engineering drawing interpretation. 
    • License: A valid driver’s license with the ability to drive a manual vehicle. Passport also required.

    Tax Manager, Africa

    About You and The Role  

    • We are looking for a hands-on, motivated Tax Manager to manage all African country taxes. We are located in Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and Rwanda. You will manage all taxes (excluding payroll taxes) in these countries to ensure they’re accurately and timely filed. You will collaborate with the Accounting and Finance team to ensure tax-related accounts are correctly reflected in the financials. 
    • You will perform reviews of the income tax provision for statutory financial reporting and corporate income tax returns. 
    • You will collaborate with local Accounting and Finance leads on tax audits. 
    • As our key tax person, you will continue to look for ways to increase efficiency in the tax processes without sacrificing quality while looking for ways to minimize our taxes through thoughtful tax planning ideas. 
    • The Africa Tax Manager will report to the Head of Tax with a dotted line to African Country Controller. The Africa Tax Manager will serve as the Tax Lead for all African countries. 

    What You'll Do
    The Africa Tax Manager will perform the following duties:

    • Prepare VAT and other indirect tax returns for all African countries
    • Prepare monthly tax account reconciliations
    • Prepare audit ready tax workpapers and documentation
    • Prepare and manage quarterly Corporate Income Tax (CIT) tax declarations and any required payments
    • Gather documentation and manage all (CIT) returns to ensure returns are accurately and timely filed by external tax preparers
    • Review annual income tax provision calculations
    • Assist in preparing and reviewing transfer pricing calculations
    • Review and monitor intercompany transactions for tax implications
    • Manage African countries tax calendar to ensure timely filing of all tax returns and declarations
    • Collaborate with local accounting and finance leads to manage tax audits 
    • Collaborate with the Accounting and Finance teams to address all tax related matters
    • Provide tax consultation and training to other business functions
    • Provide tax development and updates to the Head of Tax and other business functions
    • Liaise and manage relationship with outside tax advisors
    • Collaborate with Head of Tax to develop and implement tax planning ideas
    • Continue to enhance and improve internal control in the tax area
    • Support other countries outside of Africa as needed

    What You'll Bring 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • Graduate degree or professional certification is a plus 
    • At least 7 years of tax experience working with a multinational company with operations in various African countries and/or similar experience from an international public accounting firm
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
    • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and willing to work outside of business hours with colleagues overseas primarily in the USA
    • Proficient with software such as Microsoft Officer Suite and/or Google G Suite specifically Excel and Google Sheet
