    GSO Assistant (Warehouse)

    Summary:

    The U.S. Embassy in Abuja is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the GSO Assistant (Warehouse) position in the General Services Office. The U.S. Mission in Nigeria supports Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA). All interested eligible candidates are welcome to apply.

    Duties

    This is one of the positions assigned to the General Services Office, in managing Warehouse operations and support to customers. Incumbent will also oversee the property operation of the Warehouse during make-readies in liaison with Facilities Management. The position supports LE Staff employees and American direct- hires and their families assigned to Abuja and reports to the Supervisory General services Officer (SGSO). 

    Education Requirements: Completion of High School Diploma is required

    Experience: Two (2) years of experience in administrative and/or in customer-focused work environment.

    Job Knowledge: 

    Thorough knowledge of administrative and office procedures is required. Knowledge of management practices and a general understanding of organizational structures is required. 

    Skills And Abilities: 

    Must have excellent interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills.  Must demonstrate the ability to work with customers in providing clear, concise guidance and training.  Must be comfortable working with Embassy personnel.  Must be able to respond with courtesy in handling stressful situations. Must be an analytic thinker, a problem-solver, and have a can-do attitude. 

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.) is required and must be able to type 40 words per minute. Must be able to lift heavy objects and use suitable lifting techniques like bending the knees, squatting appropriately, and ensuring that the back is straight.

    Telephone Technician

    Summary:

    The U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Telephone Technician position in the Diplomatic Technology O0ffice. The U.S. Mission in Nigeria supports Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA). All genders are welcome to apply.

    Duties

    This position is responsible for the configuration, programming and repair of all telephone related equipment for multiple agencies utilized within U.S Embassy Abuja and its tail sites. Job holder is responsible for the installation and maintenance of all telephone related equipment in use by the Department of State and its tenant agencies. The incumbent will serve as liaison on issues involving local telephone service providers. The incumbent assists with programming and installation of VHF/HF Radios and service as backup Radio Technician.

    Education Requirements: At least two years of college/university studies is required.

    Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of progressive work experience in the repair, installation and maintenance of telephone systems and associated software applications is required. This must also include electrical and structured cabling for telephone systems

    Job Knowledge: 

    Knowledge of the various telecommunication network systems in the host country is required. Experience in Nortel/Avaya, Cisco, Panasonic, VoIP systems, and Local Area Networking is required. Incumbent must have knowledge of how telecommunication voice and data signaling enters the building; how wiring is arranged on a punch down block; ability to test and correct faulty circuits. Knowledge of telephone procedures to operate a telephone switchboard and other alternative routing skills is required.

    Skills And Abilities: 

    Incumbent must be well organized and able to work independently to resolve stressful and unforeseen situations. Must be adaptable to new environments and establish effective solutions to technical and administrative issues. Communication effectively with other technicians and logistic personnel is required. Must be able to utilize and maintain a wide range of test equipment and use a myriad of hand and power tools. The job holder must have a valid Nigeria driver license and held a driver’s license for at least five years.

    Must have good computer and general keyboard skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Must have good interpersonal relationship with individual as a customer services provider. Must have good understanding of basic leadership and good customer services. Must be able to complete minor radio request including reprogramming handheld radio and issuing new radios to customers when service as backup radio tech. Must be able to lift a minimum weight of 20lb of equipment or tools.

    Senior Program Specialist, Monitoring and Evaluation

    Summary:

    The U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Public Health Specialist (M&E) position in the US Army Medical Research Directorate Africa/Nigeria Office. The U.S. Mission in Nigeria supports Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA).

    Duties

    The incumbent, under the supervision of the Associate Director, Strategic Information (SI), will provide technical expertise in the implementation of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities for the U.S. Army Medical Research Directorate-Africa/Nigeria (USAMRD-A/N), under the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR).

    The incumbent will work with the other team members to implement strategies and systems that: ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of all program and related activities; use appropriate technologies to integrate data collection, processing, and reporting, in a manner that enhances the use of the information for improving patient and program outcomes; and that provide support for surveillance and research related activities in the program.

    The incumbent will provide technical support for all PEPFAR interagency team activities. The incumbent will also provide technical assistance aimed at building the capacity of the Nigerian Ministry of Defence (NMOD) SI team in a manner as to ensure sustainability of the program. S/he, by applying both theoretical and practical knowledge of monitoring and evaluation systems and research methodologies, will provide critical support to the larger USAMRD-A/N team in the achievement of program goals and objectives.

    Education Requirements:

    • A professional degree in Medicine (MBBS, DVM or equivalent), and a Master's degree in one of the following disciplines: Public Health, Epidemiology, Informatics, Computer Science, or Health Management are required.

    Note: NYSC Certificate or Exemption document is required.

    Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in design and implementation of program M&E activities, implementing health data and information systems, evaluation of program activities and research is required. 

    Job Knowledge: 

    The incumbent must possess advanced knowledge and understanding of activities as relates to PEPFAR-funded HIV/AIDS programs.  Advanced knowledge of program monitoring and evaluation strategies and techniques as well as standard knowledge of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases or TB prevention activities are required.

    Incumbent must possess knowledge of health delivery information systems, especially the application of program management and the translation of evaluation data as it pertains to the improvement of program operations, guidelines, and policies.

    Knowledge of the health care system of Nigeria and advanced computer skills in Word processing, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, statistical applications (SPSS, STATA or related), and web-based applications are required. Ability to use business intelligence tools like Tableau and Power BI are required for this position. Advanced knowledge of DHIS2 implementation and interoperability with other systems is essential.

    Skills And Abilities: 

    Strong oral and written communications skills are required.  Ability to analyze, understand and discuss new program design, management and implementation approaches is required. This includes the development of evaluation designs, use of reliable and valid instruments, and methods for data collection, analysis and reports.

    Ability to work in project teams and workgroups and to develop effective working relationships with national and international working partners is required. The incumbent must be able to exercise considerable ingenuity and tact in applying guidelines to unique and different settings, as the work is highly complex and can be threatening to stakeholders. 

    Considerable innovation will be required to influence other collaborative organizations engaged in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment programs to adopt appropriate strategies for their program activities.

    The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate advanced use of spreadsheets and ability to integrate data from spreadsheets and other sources into DHIS2. Intermediate user level of word processing and databases is required. Intermediate skills in calculation; measurement and data analysis; understanding trends; and interpreting relationship between numbers is required. Keyboard/typing skills is required, with working speed & accuracy.
