    Knowledge Management & Learning Advisor

    The role holder will be a part of the Monitoring Evaluation Accountability & Learning (MEAL) team and will work closely with a wide range of staff, including those in Program Development & Quality (Business Development, thematic and cross-cutting technical advisors); Programme Operations; Advocacy, Campaigns, Communications & Media (ACCM) and Information Technology (IT).

    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

    Leadership and Management of the KM and Learning (KML) Function:

    • Lead on delivering on the 'Learning & Growth' goals contained in the 2022-24 SCI Nigeria Country Strategic Goals.
    • Develop and execute the SCI Nigeria Knowledge Management and Learning strategy.
    • Lead in the development, roll-out and execution of the Country Learning Agenda and guide Project teams in the development of and implementation of Project Learning Agendas.
    • Lead on completing the Learning Country Assessment during each CSP (country strategic priorities) period and execute the action plans in collaboration with relevant teams.
    • Lead initiatives to strengthen processes, practices, culture, and systems that drive organisational learning activities.
    • Develop mechanisms for consulting and receiving feedback from staff on the relevance and usefulness of KM and organisational learning initiatives and platforms and use results to drive continuous improvement in the service.
    • Provide overall direction on KML systems and platforms, including ensuring functioning of thematic / programmatic KML platforms.
    • Ensure that all SCI Nigeria programmes properly archive knowledge resources in the SCI Nigeria Resource Centre, Global Resource Centre, and Global Thematic Library.
    • Ensure that all knowledge networking technologies (SCI OneNet, SCI Nigeria Resource Center) and platforms are increasingly integrated, easy-to-access and use, and optimally designed and deployed to deliver demonstrable value.
    • Design, review, and lead initiatives to strengthen the enabling environment, incentives, culture, and resourcing in support of improved knowledge management and organisational learning.
    • Support programmes, thematic and regional teams to identify and deliver effective products and services for sharing and encouraging uptake of knowledge and organisational learning.
    • Support in the development of case studies, learning briefs, human impact stories for projects and ensure that these meet Save the Children child safeguarding policies.
    • Support in the dissemination of research findings, learnings, best practices, new methods, and innovation through internal and external webinars, brown bags, workshops etc. with all staff and relevant community of practices.
    • Support in the generation of evidence in proposals.
    • Work with technical advisers and MEAL team to develop academic papers and abstracts from research studies and publish in journals.
    • Ensure the quality, consistency and appropriateness of evidence-based knowledge products and communication materials that are developed, produced, and disseminated to beneficiaries, government officials, implementing partners, other partners, and the media.
    • Ensure all awards include KML milestones and activities in their MEAL Plans and Detailed Implementation Plans.
    • Identify and maximise opportunities to raise the visibility and profile of the programme, both internationally and in-country.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Essential:

    • Requires a professional level of specialized knowledge, technical/functional skills and attention to detail to manage complex tasks, programs or projects.
    • At least 7 years of overall relevant professional experience, including in knowledge management & Learning.
    • Experience in developing/managing knowledge management systems/programmes.
    • Advanced experience with creating knowledge repositories on SharePoint and OneNet.
    • Ability to use computer systems and effectively organize information and knowledge products on internal repositories and external websites.
    • Familiarity with the state of the art in communication technology, including the application of Workplace to accommodate business related needs.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the development and management of data bases and/or document catalogues.
    • Experience establishing, supporting and/ or leading communities of practice, particularly via online platforms.
    • Experience working in at least one of the five SCI global thematic areas preferred (Child Protection, Child Poverty, Child Rights Governance, Education, Health & Nutrition).
    • Excellent listening, communication, and networking skills; proven experience and effectiveness working across functional teams and in a matrixed structure; and an ability to work with diverse populations.
    • A track record of national and international working experience with increasing responsibilities in the development space.

    Stabilization Center Nurse

    ROLE PURPOSE: 

    The Nurse will work with the Doctors to provide clinical and nutritional care for complicated cases of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) admitted at the stabilization Centre (SC). S/He will also maintain accurate patient records, provide input into SCI reports and actively participate in the smooth functioning of the SC.

    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

    Programme implementation

    Objective 1: Provision of high quality Nursing care to complicated SAM cases.

    • Admit all patients presenting into the SC in line with the admission criteria.
    • Provide quality nursing clinical care to complicated cases of SAM admitted at the Stabilization Centre (SC).
    • Ensure Nursing and clinical care provided at the SC is in line with the National guidelines for In-patient Management of SAM.
    • Stabilize all critical patients in line with the protocols in collaboration with the doctors and other team members.
    • Patient monitoring for patients in Phase 1, the transition phase and Phase 2 is in line with guidelines.
    • Report any medical or clinical complications on a timely basis to the doctor and other team members.
    • Ensure nursing records and monitoring charts are up-to-date and well-maintained. 
    • Mentor and provide on-the-job training on stabilization care and documentation to Dieticians & help mothers deployed to the SC.
    • Respect for approved protocols for the management of severe acute malnutrition.
    • Correct use of programme monitoring and evaluation (recording) tools in reporting and recording.
    • Appropriate use of resources, stock control and ordering procedures.

    Objective 2: Programme Documentation and reporting.

    • Ensure the utilization of medicines, medical supplies, and nutrition-related commodities are routinely documented in the relevant data tools.
    • Ensure timely collection and compilation of quality data for the production of quantitative and qualitative reports regarding all SC activities.
    • Support the nurse in charge in the development of weekly and monthly reports on activities, and any other ad hoc report that may be required.

    Objective3: Other program roles

    • Ensure that quality nutrition services are provided by the help mothers at night and during the weekend in the absence of the dieticians.
    • Participate in weekly Nutrition related Meetings, trainings and workshops and feed information acquired back into programming. 
    • Organize and Participate in Nutrition education sessions for mothers/caretakers in the stabilization centre.
    • Carry out any other role as provided for by the Nurse team leader.
    • Work and strengthen relationships with Borno State Ministry of Health and Hospital Management Board, UNICEF and other partners implementing CMAM and Stabilization Care in the State.

    • Degree or Diploma in Nursing from a recognized/accredited University in Nigeria.
    • At least two years post-graduation experience.
    • Previous experience with other local and international NGOs.

    • Training and experience in the treatment of acute malnutrition.
    • Advocacy and logistics experience.
    • Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
    • Fluency in English, Kanuri and Hausa, spoken and written.
    • Ability to work in partnership with government and other NGO staff.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Must have a valid practice license.

    • Work experience in the health/public health and or in a health/public health organization, including as a trainer.

    Health and Nutrition Advocacy and Campaign Officer

    ROLE PURPOSE:

    The post holder will lead the implementation of the CSO-led Advocacy for Immunization & Primary Health Care Financing project at national and Jigawa with support from the Advocacy, Campaign and Policy Manager/Survive and Programme Assistant.

    S/he will also provide support to the ACCM team on Policy analysis, new business development, advocacy initiatives, strategy development and others in the delivery of basic social services with a focus on improving quality and access to child health services, especially Immunization, Nutrition. S/he would also provide support on other thematic areas/breakthroughs including Climate Change, Livelihood, Resilience, Food Systems, Education and Child Protection. 

    S/he will work closely with the National & State team on the implementation of the countrywide advocacy, campaign, media, social mobilization (SBCC) and communication strategies. S/he will also be expected to support the Health and Nutrition team.

    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

    People Management and Leadership:

    • Have regular meetings with appropriate authorities to update on the progress of programmes.
    • Involve relevant authorities in the planning and implementation of programmes through consultation and joint visits.

    • Prepare concept papers and other relevant documents and initiate and describe project ideas and initiatives in accordance with the country strategy, the current contextual environment, the institutional capabilities of potential partners, resource availability and funding sources. 
    • When working on specific high-priority initiatives, the advocacy officer will collaborate with senior staff and support the analysis process, developing policy positions and programme strategies, establishing new networks and partnerships, and managing coalitions.
    • Assist colleagues to strengthen their knowledge and skills/capacities to incorporate governance frameworks, policy research, analysis, and advocacy into their work.
    • Contribute to the development of advocacy strategies proposal writing and fundraising.

    Communication and Representation:

    • Act as SC’s representative at local, national, and international levels with local authorities, partners etc, as required, mainly in events relating to basic services (health/nutrition, FSL and education) programme. 
    • Represent SC Nigeria CO and communicate SC Nigeria CO’s public policy and advocacy positions as and when appropriate to institutions, government, international, national, and local organisations as required.
    • Support the coordination of the drafting and submission of strategic, planning and reporting documents, including but not limited to strategy documents, the operational plan and annual reports, and ad hoc requests for updates and reports from SC CO and Regional office.
    • Develop and maintain a professional network for governance issues within Nigeria and within SC globally.
    • Dissemination of important information and messages.

    Programme Management:

    • Support consultants involved in writing project designs, case studies or reports, facilitating training events and conducting policy research, or other such contracted services.
    • Support the implementation of the governance programme including quality control, negotiation with local partners, financial management, documentation, monitoring and evaluation, reporting etc.

    Others:

    • Other ad hoc tasks as requested by the line manager.

    Advocacy and Campaign Assistant

    ROLE PURPOSE:

    The project assistant will provide support to implement the CSO Advocacy for Immunization & Primary Health Care Financing funded GAVI specifically at Jigawa State. He/she will be responsible for implementing daily task that ensures the project meets all SCI-related policies and procedures. The project assistant will provide administrative and technical support to Advocacy Manger and Jigawa field office manager. 

    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Provide support in the day-to-day implementation of the CSO Advocacy for Immunization & Primary Health Care Financing project activities.
    • Support the Advocacy Manager and Officer to co-facilitate trainings and workshops, draft agenda for meetings, prepare presentations, and participate in the development of, and/or the timely completion/review technical reports such as: activity, monthly, quarterly and/or annual reports; strategic plans and work plans; and other ad hoc report.
    • Manage event logistics, travel and accommodation for event participants, consultants and staff.
    • Liaise with the administrative department for Programme needs and raise procurement request for the production of IEC materials.
    • Support in maintaining good relationship with Government and non-Government partners working on the Project.
    • Liaise with the media and communications team to produce contents for SCI website and other social media channels. 
    • Manage internal and external correspondence as directed by line manager.
    • Under the direction of the Advocacy Manager, he/she will represent the project in internal and external events, take notes, and provide feedback.
    • Perform other duties and tasks as determined by the Line manager.
