    Refinery Operator

    Job Summary

    The Refinery Operator will play a crucial role in the production process by operating and monitoring refining equipment to ensure the production of high-quality soya oil. Your responsibilities will include adhering to strict hygiene standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.

    Key Result Areas (KRA)                                                                                                                                         

    The key result areas of this role are:

    • Ensure the achievement of production targets.
    • Delivery of high-quality Soya oil within specified standards and parameters.
    • Optimize refinery processes to achieve higher efficiency levels, reducing processing time and zero spillage/waste.
    • Ensure cleanliness and organization within the processing area. 
    • Ensure the reliability and availability of processing equipment through regular maintenance and timely repairs, meeting GMP equipment standards.

    Responsibilities

    • Equipment Operation: Operate and monitor refinery equipment, including DE gummers, neutralizers, bleachers, deodorizers, alkali refining, hydrogenation, and filtration systems, to process soy oil efficiently and meet quality standards.
    • Operational Excellence: Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain consistent product quality. Conduct routine checks on machinery, promptly reporting any malfunctions or abnormalities.
    • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular quality checks on processed oil samples, adjust processing parameters as needed, and ensure compliance with quality specifications. Implement corrective actions to maintain product quality.
    • Equipment Maintenance: Maintenance and calibration of refining equipment to ensure proper functionality and reliability, and Collaborated with the maintenance team to schedule preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues promptly. Keep equipment in optimal working condition to ensure uninterrupted production.
    • Hygiene and Housekeeping: Adhere to strict hygiene protocols and GMP guidelines to maintain a clean and sanitized working environment. Perform routine cleaning of equipment, pipelines, and processing areas to prevent contamination and ensure product purity.
    • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, equipment adjustments, and quality control checks. Prepare daily shift reports, documenting production quantities, quality observations, and any operational challenges encountered.

    The Person

    • National Diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications in food processing or related fields are a plus. 
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in operating refining equipment within a food processing or oil refinery industry.
    • Strong understanding of Soya oil processing, equipment operation, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with GMP, PLC systems, and panel controls is advantageous.
    • Knowledge of safety protocols, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
    • Ability to conduct precise quality checks, maintain accurate records, adjust processing parameters, and ensure cleanliness in the processing area, meeting GMP cleanliness standards.
    • Strong analytical abilities to assess process data, identify inefficiencies, and propose effective solutions, and documentation.
    • Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and report operational status effectively.

    Refinery Chiller Operator

    Job Summary

    The Chiller Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining the chillers used in the oil refining process. Your role is crucial to ensuring the efficiency of the cooling systems, maintaining high-quality standards, and adhering to housekeeping, waste management, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) protocols.

    Key Result Areas (KRA)

    • Ensure the chillers operate at optimum efficiency.
    • Maintaining the required cooling levels for the vegetable oil refining process.

    • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on chillers, including cleaning, lubricating parts, and replacing worn components. Collaborate with quality control teams to maintain product quality throughout the cooling process.
    • Hygiene and Housekeeping: Adhere to strict hygiene protocols and GMP guidelines to maintain a clean and sanitized working environment. Perform routine cleaning of equipment to prevent contamination and ensure product purity.
    • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while operating chillers, minimizing risks and ensuring a safe working environment. Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Follow waste management procedures, disposing of materials responsibly and in accordance with environmental guidelines.  Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the chiller area, complying with GMP guidelines.

    The Person

    • National Diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications in food processing or related fields are a plus. 
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in chiller systems, their components, and operation protocols.
    • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve chiller-related issues efficiently.
    • Keen eye for detail to monitor chiller performance and ensure quality standards.
    • Effective communication skills to coordinate with maintenance teams and quality control departments.
