    Biomedical Engineer

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    • The Biomedical Engineer assists to directs, coordinates and governs all functions related to safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical patient care equipment.
    • Provides training and technical leadership to appropriate patient care personnel regarding equipment operations, standards, and maintenance.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Assist to develop technical specifications for the strategic decisions on Biomedical equipment to approve for use within the group.
    • Assist to develop and Oversee implementation of preventive, predictive, corrective and routine repair and maintenance schedules.
    • Design biomedical equipment and devices, such as artificial internal organs, replacements for body parts, and machines for diagnosing medical problems
    • Install, adjust, maintain, repair, or provide technical support for biomedical equipment
    • Oversee testing, troubleshooting, and repairing malfunctions for medical equipment
    • Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment
    • Maintain supplies and biomedical inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt
    • Carry out regular inspections of the machines to identify and resolve issues.
    • Plan and oversee all major repair and installation activities (major = structural alterations or repairs).
    • Assist to manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
    • Setup and manage contingency plans for limited business interruption.
    • Installing and calibrating biomedical machines, equipment, and software.
    • Evaluating the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical machines, equipment, and software.
    • Providing technical support, when needed.
    • Keeping up-to-date service histories on all biomedical machines and equipment.
    • Training clinicians and other personnel on how to use biomedical machines and equipment, safely and effectively.
    • Researching new materials, technologies, and engineering aspects of biological processes and systems.
    • Writing reports and documents detailing protocols, policies, standards of use, maintenance, and repairs of biomedical equipment, machines, and software.
    • Disseminating knowledge about the biomedical engineering field through writing, teaching, or consulting.
    • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

    HIERARCHY

    • This role reports to the Head of Biomedical Engineering.

    EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • BSc/BA in biomedical engineering or relevant field.
    • Master in Biomedical Engineering
    • Relevant professional qualifications will be an advantage.
    • Proven experience and Well-versed in biomedical Engineering
    • Must possess relevant experience in the field of specialization.
    • Demonstrated work experience in the medical field
    • 10 years’ experience will be useful.
    • Meticulous attention to detail.

    Electronics Technician

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    • Assembling, evaluating, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
    • Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment, appliances, and apparatus.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • The Key performance arrears will include but not limited to the following:
    • Assembling, evaluating, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
    • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
    • Reading and interpreting electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
    • Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment, appliances, and apparatus, connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
    • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with industry and safety codes.
    • Carry out maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of electronic equipment
    • Perform maintenance of alarm systems, electrical pneumatic and electronic controls, programmable controls, and other similar equipment.
    • Inspect and supervise work done by external vendors.
    • Keep daily records of utilities and carry out regular updates as required.
    • Perform any other tasks as required.

    HIERARCHY

    • This role reports to the Technical Manager.

    EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • OND, Trade test, hand on skills on electrical/electronic equipment.
    • 2+ years of experience working on electrical/electronic equipment.

    PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

    • Strong knowledge of practices and principles of electrical/electronic systems.
    • Knowledge of the methods and safety precautions related to electric equipment.
    • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, service manuals, panels and meters.
    • Ability to maintain adequate records and reports.
    • Good interpersonal working relationship
    • Effective communication skill in English
    • Knowledge of biomedical equipment will be an added advantage.

    Air Conditioner Technician

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    • The Air conditioner technician shall be the custodian and primary implementers at the branch level of all functionality of already installed HVAC systems at the branch level.
    • You will ensure that the hospital's built environment and HVAC systems are in the best possible operational condition.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Ensure full functionality of already installed HVAC systems at the branch level.
    • Receive Requests for Technical Attention (corrective maintenance) from client, staff & units within the hospital branch and assess the work order resource needs with the objective of ensuring the issues reported are solved in good time, with the desired quality output, not exceeding the prescribed scope of works and at an affordable cost.
    • Conduct periodic assessments of the branch hospital's built environment and do ensure that the buildings’ HVAC systems are in an agreed conducive condition, fit for patients, staff, and other persons.
    • Shall stand as the Hospitals representative on all HVAC systems-related construction works within the branch, but shall perform this role with close supervision from the technical manager.
    • Perform periodic preventive and predictive maintenance procedures as planned and approved respectively.
    • Respond to out of hours calls as necessary and occasionally attend on site if the Situation arises. Also attend as necessary out of hour’s meetings, training courses, seminars and conferences.
    • Work closely with other units of the Hospital administration to ensure efficient and effective service delivery
    • Attend meetings as appropriate and carry out specific tasks as instructed by his/her line manager.
    • Perform any legitimate task that may be duly assigned to him/her.

    HIERARCHY

    • This role reports to the Technician Manager

    EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • OND, ND, Trade test, hand on skills on HVAC or any related field.
    • 2+ years experience as an HVAC technician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field.

    PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

    • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating.
    • Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
    • Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
    • Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
    • Ability to work in confined spaces
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, and the clients/vendors.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
