    Capital Finance Assistant

    Key responsibilities:

    • Confirm reception of all documents from Yobe office against dispatch checklist received;
    • Receive all hardcopies of accountancy supporting documents/files from Yobe field office;
    • Check that all invoices and their amounts are present as from their reception and the coherence with the accountancy in Saga;
    • Check the nature of the document and its presentation (photocopy, original, pro forma, translation, date, signature, stamp, terms used, accuracy of calculations, etc.);
    • Check to ensure all analytical codes, amounts and other details on supporting document corresponds with information on SAGA for all closed months;
    • Prepare a report for progress of work done and feedback on issues identified to be shared with Abuja and field staff;
    • Ensure all scanned supporting documents verified are archived on the E-archiving platform;
    • Labelling of hardcopies of supporting documents and proper archiving in and retrieval from finance archive room;
    • To ensure the maintenance of segregated filing system for PAYE & WHT for the base;
    • Retrieval of all necessary documentation needed for spot checks and audits;
    • Collaborate with relevant persons to provide additional documentation/explanation for audit checks where necessary;
    • Follow up on implementation of recommendations provided by auditors in review of subsequent month’s documentation;
    • Identify and flag all compliance issues and possible financial risk that may arise from supporting documentations reviewed;
    • Draft financial lines for new grants using the nomenclature file for the review of Finance Specialist;
    • Export SAGA expenses per grant for bi-weekly BFU preparation.

    Position Requirements:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor equivalent in Accounting/Finance;
    • Basic knowledge of donor rules;
    • Knowledge of Nigeria statutory rules and requirement;
    • Organized with time management and planning skills;
    • Sense of confidentiality;
    • Strong computer skills, and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel;
    • Ability to manage and follow work plans;
    • Good interpersonal skills (communication, able to negotiate, influence, give effective feedback, be a team player);
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a finance and administration-related role;
    • Experience in a non-governmental organization is preferred;
    • Experience with donor-funded programs would be appreciated.

    Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant

    Key responsibilities:

    • Ensure quality coding of survey tools under the supervision of M&E Officer and MIS Officer;
    • Ensure quality data collection through supervision of data collectors in the field;
    • Ensure that data collection is done according to the validated methodology defined in the terms of reference;
    • Take lead in qualitative data collection (FGD, KII, IDI) with beneficiaries;
    • Support M&E Officers in training of data collectors;  
    • Ensure proper community mobilization and sensitization prior to data collection;
    • Conduct daily debriefing with data collectors and ensure that issues and challenges are reported to the M&E Officer;
    • Support M&E Officer for pre testing of survey tools;
    • Responsible for sharing of community engagement schedule with programs on monthly basis;
    • Regular activity monitoring (participation, decision making, acceptance of the monitoring);
    • Support the program team to organize the kick off meeting in the community;
    • Provide daily feedback to M&E Officer on on-going data collection, including data collectors performance and challenges encounters;
    • Conduct data collectors appraisal following each activities, to submit to the M&E Officer;
    • Submit timely field reports to M&E Officer after implementation of activities;
    • Support accountability team for community sensitization and receiving feedback and complaints in the field;
    • Support accountability team in their daily activities when required;
    • Support project teams for field monitoring;
    • To support program teams with the data collection and analysis of the needs assessment for the community engagement;
    • To support learning workshops with community.

    Position Requirements:

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Rural Development, Business, Administration, Statistics, Demography or related subject, with previous experience working in humanitarian projects;
    • 1 year M&E related work experience;
    • Experience in data collection, collation, analysis, and report writing (Mobile Data Collection a strong advantage);
    • Commitment to and understanding of Action Against Hunger aims, values and principles;
    • Professional, good organizational capacity, good human relationships and team spirit, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, flexible and, culturally sensitive;
    • Microsoft Office Skills (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word);
    • Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited;
    • Fluency in English (both written and spoken skills) plus at least one local language (Hausa, Kanuri, Fulani, Shuwa, etc.);
    • Good knowledge of the intervention area/s and local economy;
    • Previous experience with Action Against Hunger or international NGOs is an added advantage;
    • Previous humanitarian programming experience.

    Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

    Key responsibilities:

    • Participate in the design of programme Monitoring and Evaluation tools (registers, reporting templates, data bases, etc.) to track WASH projects;
    • In collaboration with WASH stakeholders and relevant ACF staff, ensure timely data collection, compilation and reporting according to programme M&E plan;
    • Conduct monthly data analysis and prepare monthly programme monitoring reports;
    • Ensure the programme database is updated regularly;
    • Support programme feedback meetings to communities, facilities and authorities;
    • Support the MEAL Manager to implement the Data Quality Assurance system including the conduct of data quality assessments according to the M&E plan;
    • Support the MEAL Manager in data management for assessments, analysis, surveys, evaluations and other research as required;
    • Plan, forecast and facilitate the production and supply of M&E tools and materials to supported sites;
    • Support the MEAL Manager to monitor WASH projects across all target communities and communicate findings and progress to Program Managers;
    • Participate in evaluation of WASH projects, focusing on data management of evaluation datasets;
    • Support the dissemination and use of evaluation and research reports and propose changes for improvement to the WASH Team;
    • Support coordination of WASH projects monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual reviews and reports as required;
    • Participate in dissemination of program information to communities, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders through a regular feedback mechanism;
    • Support the management of the beneficiary complaints and feedback mechanism database;
    • Update shared drive and project team space with program monitoring documents regularly.

    Position Requirements:

    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Rural Development, Business, Administration, Statistics, Demography or related subject, with previous experience working in humanitarian projects;
    • 2-3 years previous experience with local or international NGOs;
    • Previous experience with WASH, and Nutrition and Health projects;
    • Proficiency in the use of MS Excel or other statistical package. e.g; SPSS, STATA, ODK;
    • Fluency in English, Hausa and Kanuri;
    • Ability to work in partnership with government and development partners;
    • Good interpersonal skills;
    • Ability to work within a team setting;
    • Independence, adaptability and flexibility;
    • Excellent communication skills including report writing.
