    Field Officer

    About the project

    • Ikore is implementing a one-year project in Kaduna and Adamawa States focused on strengthening livestock vaccine markets, improving last-mile delivery, enhancing veterinary service systems, and supporting commercially viable access to quality-assured livestock vaccines for smallholder livestock producers.
    • The project aims to demonstrate a 40% vaccination improvement within one year in at least three diseases (PPR, CBPP, LSD) across selected exemplar areas.

    About the Role

    • The Field Officer will lead day-to-day implementation of the livestock vaccine market strengthening project at the LGA level.
    • The role is responsible for coordinating community engagement, supporting vaccination campaigns, strengthening last-mile veterinary service delivery, supervising field actors, and ensuring accurate data reporting.
    • The Field Officer will work closely with community leaders, agrovets,paravets, Community Animal Health Workers (CAHWs), and commercial partners to improve vaccine access and uptake, contributing to theproject’starget of a 40% improvement in vaccination rates for PPR, CBPP, and LSD.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities
    Field Implementation & Support:

    • Coordinatefield-level activities.level activities within the assigned LGA
    • Develop community-level implementation plans aligned with project objectives.
    • Provide regular field updates and reports to the State Lead.

    Stakeholder Engagement & Local Coordination:

    • Engage community leaders, livestock associations, agrovets,paravets, and CAHWs.
    • Lead onboarding of agrovets and support formation/strengthening of livestock cooperatives.
    • Support LGA-level advocacy and vaccination activation campaigns
    • Facilitate partnership between commercial partners and their distributors with selected Agrovets in the LGA.

    Last MileVeterinary Service DeliveryMile Veterinary Service Delivery:

    • Identify priority communities for vaccination campaigns.
    • Supervise service delivery agents and support disease surveillance activities.
    • Monitor vaccination activities and ensure timely submission of vaccination records.
    • Provide weekly updates on vaccination progress within the LGA

    Technology & Farmer Engagement:

    • Train field actors on digital reporting tools.
    • Support farmer onboarding onto project technology platforms.
    • Monitor deployment and effective use of mobile reporting systems.

    Monitoring & Evaluation:

    • Ensure monthly delivery of vaccination recordsby agrovets and field actors.
    • Supervise enumerators and support baseline and field assessments.
    • Ensure accurate collection, verification, and submission of field data.
    • Track vaccination coverage, agrovet performance, and community engagement indicators.

    Communication:

    • Properly document and archive field activities, reports, and engagement records.
    • Support visibility and impact documentation as required.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong field coordination and communitymobilisationskills.
    • Good understanding of livestock systems and rural veterinary service delivery.
    • Ability to engage traditional leaders, farmer groups, and private sector actors.
    • Basic data collection, verification, and reporting skills.
    • Familiarity with digital data tools (e.g., Kobo, ODK) is an advantage.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English Language; Hausa proficiency required
    • Ability to work independently in rural and security-sensitive environments.
    • High level of integrity, accountability, and adaptability.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • A Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND)in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, Agricultural Extension, Livestock Production, or a related field.
    • 2–3years of field-level experience in livestock, agriculture, or rural development projects.
    • Experience supporting vaccination campaigns or animal health interventions is highly desirable.
    • Prior experience working with agrovets, CAHWs,paravets, or livestock cooperatives is an advantage.
    • Experience working in Kaduna or Adamawa State is preferred.

    Eligibility Requirement:

    • Candidates must be resident in the selected LGAs in Kaduna (Kubau,IgabiorKachiaLGAs) or Adamawa (Ganye, Mayo-Belwa, or Mubi).
    • Demonstrated understanding of the local livestock systems, community dynamics, and key stakeholders within the LGA is required.

    Advocacy, Communication, and Social Mobilisation (ACSM) Offficer

    About the project

    About the Role

    • The ACSM Officer drives community awareness, advocacy, social mobilization, communications support and contributes to monitoring activities.
    • The role works closely with Field Officers and the Communications team to ensure strong visibility, engagement, behaviour change, and accurate reporting of field activities.

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities
    Monitoring & Evaluation:

    • Coordinate enumerators and support baseline, periodic, and endline data collection activities.
    • Track vaccination uptake, sales performance, and service delivery indicators across target areas.
    • Ensure data accuracy, verification, andtimelyaggregation for reporting.
    • Contribute tomonthly, quarterly, and annual project reports.

    Communication:

    • Implement community sensitisation and vaccination awareness campaigns.
    • Support development and dissemination of IEC materials tailored to pastoral and livestock-producing communities.
    • Lead engagement with local radio and media platforms to promote livestock vaccination uptake.
    • Document field impact stories and visibility materials in collaboration with the Communications team.

    Stakeholder Engagement & Community Mobilisation:

    • Mobilise farmers, community leaders,agro-dealers, and veterinary actors for vaccination campaigns and events.
    • Support advocacy engagements with relevant government and private sector stakeholders.
    • Strengthen relationships with community-based actors to improve last-mile vaccine access.

    Technology & Farmer Engagement:

    • Support on boarding of farmers and field actors onto digital platforms and SMS campaigns.
    • Monitor engagement levels and provide feedback to improve outreach effectiveness.
    • Support training sessions for farmer groups and veterinary actors.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • A Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication, Agricultural Extension, Public Health or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2–3 years’ progressive experience in advocacy, communit ymobilisation, development communication, ormonitoringroles within donor-funded programmes.
    • Demonstrated experience working in livestock, agriculture, public health, or rural development projects in Northern Nigeria.
    • Experience supporting vaccination campaigns, animal health interventions, or community-based health initiatives is highly desirable.
    • Proven experience coordinating enumerators and supporting baseline, midline, or endline assessments.
    • Experience working with radio and local media platforms for behaviour change and awareness campaigns.
    • Experience using digital tools for data collection (e.g., KoboCollect, ODK, SurveyCTO) and basic data aggregation/reporting.

    Skills & Competency:

    • Strong understanding of advocacy,behaviour change communication, and community mobilisationin rural contexts.
    • Ability to coordinate data collection processes, supervise enumerators, and ensure data quality.
    • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with government actors, veterinary professionals, media, and farmer groups.
    • Ability to translate technical livestock and vaccination concepts into clear, community-friendly messaging.
    • Proficiencyin digital data collection tools and basic data analysis (Excel or similar).
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English Language; Hausa language proficiency is an advantage.
    • High level of accountability, adaptability, and ability to work independently in field settings.
