    Driver

    The Vacancy

    • Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a Driver to join our team in Bauchi, Nigeria.

    Scope of work

    • The driver would be responsible for picking up and driving the project officials, pickups and other scheduled appointments. And also will be responsible for performing minor maintenance tasks on the vehicles to assure the functionality of the vehicle.

    Key accountabilities
    Safely transport persons and goods (70%):

    • Transport safely Malaria Consortium employees and goods as directed by the line manager
    • Always be in possession of a valid driving license and personal identification
    • Respect and observe the Nigeria traffic regulations, speed limits and adjust speed according to road and risk conditions (for example, when driving in villages or populated areas)
    • Observe Malaria Consortium standard operating procedures for vehicles
    • Observe the manufacturer technical conditions of use for all vehicles
    • Report any accident immediately to line manager and the nearest police station for purpose of insurance claims
    • Assist in loading and off-loading, and fetching water
    • Ensure safety of vehicles assigned to you at all times
    • Ensure passengers wear seat belts at all times

    Vehicle maintenance and checklist for field trips (20%):

    • Responsible for daily and weekly preventive maintenance and report to the line manager any problems with vehicles
    • Ensure vehicles are always on full fuel tanks
    • Diligently and promptly update the movement and fuel consumption logbook
    • Furnish the logbook to the line manager as and when required to facilitate preparation of monthly vehicle and fuel consumption reports
    • Always ensure the vehicle insurance and licenses are valid before driving any vehicle
    • Alert line manager when service and maintenance schedules are due
    • Clean the vehicle inside and outside as and when necessary/ keep your vehicle clean externally and internally at all the times
    • Check that items mentioned in the logbook are in the vehicle before leaving
    • Perform daily vehicle pre–departure checks to include fuel, engine oil, coolant, lights, tyres, horn, tools and equipment, brakes, windows and mirrors, etc.
    • When a field trip is planned, the driver has to inspect and prepare the vehicle the day before leaving and be ready for scheduled departure time
    • The driver has also to prepare additional materials according to trip needs (for example, additional fuel tank, stickers, flag, medical and food kits, additional spare tyres)
    • Conduct daily, weekly and monthly vehicle check
    • Behave in a professional manner at all the times with the understanding that the public associates your behaviour with Malaria Consortium
    • Ensures the official vehicles are safely parked within the office environment and approved sites at all times

    Security, communication and miscellaneous duties (10%):

    • Ensure the vehicle radio communication is in good working condition
    • Maintain regular radio communication with the base station while travelling away from the base. Radios should be switched on for communications at all times
    • Observe and ensure adherence with security guidelines in the programme area of operation
    • Assist Logistics Officer and colleagues in gathering security information analysis especially pertaining to routes to be travelled. To advise the logistician on the security of such routes and whether Malaria Consortium vehicle should travel or not on a given route
    • Promptly report all relevant security incidents/concerns to the Logistics Officer
    • Carry out other delegated tasks using Malaria Consortium vehicles. Theses may range from mail delivery, payment of bills, picking or dropping of staff or visitors and other similar tasks
    • Organise the assigned task in the most efficient and effective manner, so as to minimize vehicle use (fuel consumption, wear and tear)
    • Carry out any other duties as requested by the Logistics Officer and any senior staff
    • Follow Malaria Consortium’s security protocol at all times

    Digital Health Officer

    The Vacancy

    • Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a Digital Health Technical Officer  to join our team in Abuja, Nigeria.

    Scope of work

    • The position will be responsible for supporting requirement gathering and analysis, business process mapping, solution design, technical specification development, quality assurance (QA), system compatibility assessment, user acceptance testing (UAT), deployment planning, and ongoing maintenance of both hardware and software systems for Malaria Consortium health digitalization interventions.
    • S/he will provide capacity building to relevant programme/project staff, national and sub-national government stakeholders on the management of community-based digital health platforms, as well as providing technical operational guidance in relation to its development and integration with other national systems.

    Key accountabilities
    Digital Health (70%):

    • Support the design and carry out digital health needs assessment for PF/SMC programme/projects.
    • Support product development, configuration, and campaign setup for digital platforms used in health campaigns, including workflows, user roles and permissions, commodities, microplanning, attendance, payment, and reporting modules.
    • Coordinate and support campaign-specific application configuration and readiness activities, including environment setup, deployment planning, device preparation, and go-live support.
    • Provide analytics and reporting support by developing and maintaining scripts, database queries, and custom reports to meet programme data needs, support campaign monitoring, validate data quality, and generate actionable insights for decision-making.
    • Coordinate application deployment readiness activities, including environment setup, device preparation, deployment planning, and go-live support for digital health campaigns.
    • Coordinate and support product-level testing, quality assurance (QA), and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure application functionality, performance, and readiness before deployment.
    • Provide technical support and troubleshooting across the full campaign lifecycle, including pre-campaign preparation, in-campaign implementation support, and post-campaign review and refinements.
    • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), user manuals, and technical guidance documents to support the use, management, and sustainability of digital health platforms.
    • Appraise the health system readiness for digital solutions for campaign rollout.
    • Work with the DHT to identify appropriate digital solutions for the specific contexts.
    • Work with programme M&E Manager and Senior M&E Officers to provide hands-on support for successful campaigns.
    • Develop guidance documents to support the national and sub-national government stakeholders with the management of digital health platforms and associated devices.
    • Develop training materials and content that can be shared with national and sub-national health stakeholders to support capacity building, particularly around DHIS2.
    • Capacity building of sub-national and national government stakeholders on the management of digital health platforms and associated devices, through in-person and remote support.
    • Provide technical assistance to programme staff, national and sub-national stakeholders on digital health platforms and device implementation and troubleshooting in Nigeria.
    • Support refinements to digital health platform new and existing, including the identification of platform development areas, the coordination of partners to agree on proposed solutions, and the execution of agreed changes either directly or through a contractor as required.
    • Support the integration of digital platforms and innovations with other national systems, including coordinating with partners and managing contractors as required.
    • Collaborate with national and sub-national government stakeholders to establish local server hosting and capacity building of our digital health platforms at the inception phase of programming to ensure sustainability and scalability.
    • Lead PF/SMC programme specific monitoring and evaluation activities on our digital platforms management, device maintenance, troubleshooting, and platform refinements with oversight from the M&E Manager (with support from MEAL Manager) and document lessons learnt.
    • Work with the Community Health and M&E specialists to incorporate additional community-level indicators into digital health platforms as needed, manage required platform changes, and the development of associated dashboard analytics.

    Management (20%):

    • Responsible for proactively sourcing and coordinating between key technical experts at SMoH, donors, Malaria Consortium, and other stakeholders as required, to provide input into platform monitoring, refinements and system integrations.
    • Provide technical support to the engagement and management any contractors, including the data officers required for platform refinements, or system integrations.
    • Support effective project planning, budgeting and implementation of digital health strategies.
    • Support bid analysis in the country to ensure coordination, punctuality and identification of optimum procurement and products.

    Strategic (10%):

    • Contribute to the strategic development of Malaria Consortium’s work to strengthen government ownership of digital platforms and programming and its expansion within the country, including conducting needs assessments and exploration visits, and the provision of technical leadership in system administration, platform development and appropriate budgeting.
    • Actively participate in relevant digital health coordination meetings and working groups, ensuring excellent digital health representation of Malaria Consortium in Nigeria.
    • Support advocacy efforts and work alongside Malaria Consortium External Relations (ER) colleagues to ensure a strong advocacy plan is developed, implemented and monitored.

    Person Specification
    Qualifications and experience:
    Essential:

    • At least, a Bachelors’ degree in relevant field (Information Systems, Computer Science or similar field).
    • At least five (5) years’ experience, in implementing digital solutions, preferably in the health system.
    • Previous experience in capacity building and providing technical assistance regarding the implementation of digital solutions to stakeholders at various levels including but not limited to government actors, international organizations, NGOs/CBO’s, healthcare providers and community level structures.
    • Experience in product and workflow design, including the development of wireframes, mockups, process flows, and user journey maps to support requirement definition, stakeholder alignment, and solution design.
    • Practical experience in coding with Python is essential, with strong proficiency in scripting, data processing, and backend logic development.
    • Good understanding and practical use of structured data formats and data modelling, including XML, JSON, and SQL, for system configuration, API integrations, and data exchange
    • Experience in data analytics, reporting, and developing scripts and queries (Python, SQL, and Elasticsearch index queries) to support programme reporting, data quality validation, and operational decision-making.
    • Strong knowledge and practical experience in database management, particularly PostgreSQL, including database query writing, data validation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization for reporting and operational use.
    • Experience in building, consuming, and integrating APIs for system interoperability and third-party service integration.
    • Experience in Quality Assurance (QA), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and product-level testing for digital applications.
    • Experience in developing Android applications and complex data collection forms using Flutter or React Native
    • Experience in system administration and hardware management.
    • Experience in developing dashboards for data visualisation and analysis.
    • Strong knowledge and experience working with DHIS2 and DIGIT HCM
    • Experience of working in Nigeria
    • Experience and understanding of the Nigerian health systems context both at national and sub-national levels, particularly community health systems.

    Desirable:

    • Familiar with monitoring and evaluation of digital health interventions.
    • Strong knowledge and experience working with at least one of the following - DIGIT app, RedRose and CommCare.

    Key working relationships:

    • The DHTO will be based in the Nigeria country office, Abuja and will indirectly report to the Digital Health Manager (DHM). The DHTO will work directly with PF/SMC programme staff, particularly the programme Technical Specialist, M&E Manager and Senior M&E Officers, while liaising with the Digital Health Team (DHT), Monitoring & Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Manager, Communications Specialist, Data Managers and Senior Country Technical Coordinator (SCTC) in the Nigeria country office.
    • Externally, this position will as directed, closely collaborate with the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), various state Ministries of Health (SMoH) and State Malaria Elimination Programmes (SMEP), LGAs, partner organisations, key technology partners, technical content experts, and other stakeholders. S/he will also maintain strong working relationships in the sub-national areas of operations.
