    Data Manager

    About the role

    • The Data Manager will oversee the entire data framework to ensure its reliability, security, and usefulness in driving project success. This position entails strategic management of data collection, analysis, and presentation, ensuring accurate information flows seamlessly from community-level activities to central systems for decision-making and reporting across all project phases. The Data Manager will coordinate with project teams, including two Country Office-based Data Analysts, state command centres, and partners, to maintain high-quality data standards and support evaluation of reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, and maintenance outcomes. Additionally, the Data Manager will provide clear insights, train staff, and propose improvements, acting as a key link between field operations and project leadership to advance child health goals and inform policy.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the daily collection, organisation, and verification of project data, ensuring accuracy and security
    • Establish and maintain data protocols, preparing daily reports and identifying issues for review
    • Facilitate the transmission of LGA-level data into relevant tools, providing bi-weekly updates
    • Ensure effective use of CommCare across field operations, resolving technical challenges promptly
    • Organise and refine data from CommCare and KoboToolbox, integrating information for practical use
    • Analyse data to identify trends and key findings, informing project decisions
    • Collaborate with Data Analysts to produce reports, enabling partners to assess project performance
    • Present recommendations and projections based on data during meetings and briefings
    • Maintain Power BI dashboards to illustrate project progress and distribute monthly updates
    • Create visual representations to highlight critical results and prepare presentations for partners
    • Design and conduct training sessions for staff on data tools, providing support and instructional materials
    • Monitor the performance of staff involved in data-related activities, ensuring compliance and timely submission
    • Engage with partners to standardise data methods and tools, improving project efficiency
    • Work with the NTD MEL Manager to prepare data for analysis and ensure its accuracy for reporting
    • Collaborate during review meetings, delivering updates on data quality and project advancements
    • Support monitoring of child health outcomes, ensuring data meets project requirements
    • Foster productive relationships with authorities and partners, ensuring seamless data exchange

    Jobholder Requirements

    Essential:

    • Possession of a bachelor’s degree in data science, Public Health, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline
    • Experience in data management, including at least three years within health-related projects such as child survival, AMR, and/or MDA initiatives
    • Demonstrated expertise in training, supervising, and coordinating with diverse stakeholders on data-focused tasks
    • Advanced proficiency in ODK, CommCare, KoboToolbox and/or DHIS2 for managing health data
    • Ability to clean, validate, and standardise (Extract, Transform and Load [ETL]) data for analysis
    • Proficiency in Power BI or similar tools to present data clearly; knowledge of mapping tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) is advantageous
    • Basic proficiency in Python or SQL to enhance data processing efficiency
    • Understanding of tools such as QGIS or ArcGIS for geographical data representation
    • Strong capability in Excel for data-related activities
    • Networking and influencing both within and outside the organisation
    • Consistently strives to achieve high standards of performance and responds positively to change
    • Communicates confidently and effectively with colleagues and partners
    • Gathers relevant information and uses effective reasoning to make timely decisions

    Program Manager

    About the role

    • The SARMAAN Programme Manager will lead the strategic and programmatic management of the SARMAAN project, ensuring successful implementation in line with organisational and donor standards. This role involves adherence to internal systems and processes, strategic programme development, stakeholder coordination, and State partner management for greater programme coherence. Additionally, the Programme Manager will collaborate with the Sightsavers NTD Directorate and Programme Delivery Unit.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead strategic planning processes to align with organisational and donor strategies
    • Manage the implementation of the project to achieve timely and quality delivery
    • Support the team in using relevant quality assurance tools
    • Monitor project progress, detect, address, or escalate any issues or obstacles promptly
    • Identify emerging risks, lead risk analysis, and develop mitigation strategies with support from the CD and other parts of the organisation
    • Establish and maintain relationships with the partner organisation, the donor, other implementing partners, and key stakeholders
    • Facilitate clear and timely communication, information sharing, and productive engagement with stakeholders
    • Attend strategic meetings at the National and Consortium levels and follow up on relevant developments
    • Supervise budgeting and expenditure to ensure value for money
    • Verify compliance with grant contractual clauses, including financial requirements and reporting
    • Guarantee accurate and timely submission of reports to the partner and stakeholders
    • Promote collaborative practices and cross-learning with other implementing partners in the Consortium
    • Coordinate finance and programme functions for effective operations, and take corrective actions as appropriate
    • Ensure budget holders actively monitor and review budgets, addressing issues promptly
    • Confirm partner expenditure aligns with approved forecasts

    Jobholder Requirements

    Essential:

    • Medical doctor experience with public health expertise, particularly with the Polio platform
    • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and effectively function as a team member while respecting diversity
    • Strong ability to nurture, mentor, and empower staff at every level
    • Proven ability to make effective decisions across a broad range of issues, assess progress, analyse gaps, and implement necessary changes for maximum results
    • Ability to identify programmatic issues requiring immediate attention, prioritise, and take timely action
    • Result-oriented with a proven track record of delivering impact at scale
    • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
    • Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and presentation skills
    • Demonstrated learning agility, proactiveness, and openness to embrace new technologies at work
    • Ability to manage large budgets
    • Proficient in MS Office
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Postgraduate qualification in relevant fields related to Sightsavers' thematic areas (NTDs, eye health, disability, and social inclusion), or equivalent
    • Extensive experience in an INGO/NGO environment with significant background in a senior management/leadership position and a proven track record of complex programme management at the country level
    • Knowledge of project management, budget development and monitoring, and resource management

    Desirable:

    • Knowledge of advocacy, research, partnership development, and understanding of the Polio Platform and Nigerian Health System
