Job overview

• A Construction Lab Technician (also known as a Materials Testing Technician or Concrete/Soil Lab Technician) tests construction materials to confirm they meet quality and safety standards.

Key Duties

• Collect and prepare samples of concrete, soil, asphalt, aggregates, and related materials.
• Run standard laboratory tests, including:
• Concrete: slump, compressive strength, air content
• Soil: moisture content, density (Proctor), Atterberg limits, sieve analysis
• Asphalt: gradation, binder content, density
• Operate and maintain testing equipment.
• Record results accurately and prepare reports.
• Support field sampling when needed.
• Keep the lab clean, calibrated, and safe.

Qualifications

• HND or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Geology or a related field
• Strong attention to detail, basic math skills, and physical ability to handle samples.
