    Civil Engineer (Structural)

    JOB SUMMARY

    • Responsible for the planning, design review, execution, and supervision of civil engineering works with a strong emphasis on structural elements within the company’s EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation & Commissioning) projects.
    • Ensures that all civil and structural-related activities, including foundations, reinforced concrete structures, structural steel works, earthworks, drainage systems, and infrastructure development, are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable engineering standards, contract requirements, and quality specifications. Works closely with multidisciplinary teams including structural, mechanical, electrical, project management, procurement, and HSE teams to ensure seamless project delivery from design through construction and commissioning phases.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Civil & Structural Works Planning and Execution

    • Supports the planning, coordination, and execution of civil engineering works with a structural emphasis across EPCIC projects.
    • Interprets civil and structural drawings, specifications, and construction documents for site execution.
    • Supervises site activities including excavation, foundation works, reinforced concrete works, structural steel erection, drainage systems, and finishing works.
    • Ensures works are executed in line with approved designs, project schedules, and method statements.
    • Monitors site progress and prepare daily/weekly progress

    Structural Design Review & Technical Support

    • Reviews civil and structural drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project specifications and applicable codes.
    • Provides technical input during structural design development and coordination meetings.
    • Supports review of structural calculations and analysis outputs where required.
    • Identifies and resolves design discrepancies in collaboration with consultants and engineering teams.
    • Contributes to value engineering initiatives to improve structural efficiency, durability, safety, and cost optimization.

    Site Supervision & Quality Control

    • Supervises contractors, subcontractors, and site teams to ensure quality execution of civil and structural works.
    • Conducts site inspections to ensure compliance with approved drawings and structural standards.
    • Implements and monitor QA/QC procedures for all civil and structural activities.
    • Ensures proper testing and verification of materials including concrete, reinforcement, soil, and weld inspections where applicable.

    Project Coordination & Interface Management

    • Coordinates civil and structural works with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams for seamless project integration.
    • Participates in project coordination meetings and site progress reviews.
    • Ensures alignment between procurement schedules, fabrication timelines, and site installation requirements.
    • Supports interface management between multiple contractors and disciplines.

    Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

    • Enforces strict adherence to HSE policies and structural safety requirements on site.
    • Conducts toolbox talks and participate in site safety meetings.
    • Identifies and reports unsafe conditions or practices related to civil and structural works.
    • Ensures compliance with environmental and safety regulations at all times.

    Documentation & Reporting

    • Prepares accurate site reports, progress updates, and engineering documentation.
    • Maintains records of inspections, test results, and structural work certifications.
    • Assists in preparation of as-built drawings and project close-out documentation.
    • Tracks project milestones and support overall schedule monitoring.

    Business Development Support

    • Provides technical input into bids, proposals, and tender documentation.
    • Supports identification of new business opportunities and client engagement initiatives.
    • Builds and maintains strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
    • Collaborates with engineering teams to align technical solutions with client expectations.
    • Supports market intelligence and competitive positioning efforts.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable institution.
    • COREN registration or working towards certification is an added advantage.
    • PMP or project management certification is an advantage.

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • 10–12 years of relevant experience in civil engineering within construction or EPC/EPCIC environments
    • Strong site-based experience in infrastructure or industrial construction projects
    • Significant exposure to structural works and design review responsibilities

    KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

    • Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles.
    • Knowledge of structural design codes and construction standards.
    • Familiarity with construction sequencing and project lifecycle delivery
    • Understanding of QA/QC systems and construction documentation
    • Knowledge of HSE regulations in construction environments

    TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Corporate Finance Manager

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Financial Modelling & Investment Analysis

    • Builds, owns, and continuously refines integrated financial models (3-statement models, DCF, LBO, project finance models) to support strategic and operational decisions.
    • Develops detailed project financial models for EPC bids, infrastructure proposals, and capital investment appraisals, incorporating scenario, sensitivity, and Monte Carlo analyses.
    • Structures model frameworks for joint ventures, PPP engagements, and M&A transactions to quantify risk-adjusted returns and evaluate deal economics.
    • Translates model outputs into executive-ready presentations, investment memos, and board-level financial narratives.
    • Maintains a model library of reusable templates aligned with the company's project typologies, ensuring consistency and audit-readiness across submissions.

    Corporate Finance & Capital Strategy

    • Supports the CFO in evaluating and executing capital raising activities, including debt structuring, project finance facilities, and equity instruments.
    • Conducts business valuations using multiple methodologies (DCF, comparables, precedent transactions) to inform strategic transactions and shareholder reporting.
    • Analyses capital structure options and recommends optimal financing strategies aligned with project risk profiles and corporate leverage targets.
    • Partners with the Legal team on financial due diligence for joint ventures, acquisitions, and commercial agreements.
    • Monitors market conditions, interest rate environments, and credit markets to advise on financing timing and instrument selection.

    Financial Reporting & Accounting Integrity

    • Oversees the preparation of periodic financial statements in accordance with IFRS and applicable Nigerian GAAP requirements.
    • Ensures month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes are executed with accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
    • Reviews and approves journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and consolidation workings across group entities.
    • Maintains the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts; drives continuous improvements in accounting processes and controls.
    • Leads the coordination of external audit exercises, serving as the primary finance liaison to auditors and managing all deliverables to conclusion.

    Budgeting, Forecasting & Performance Management

    • Coordinates the annual budgeting process across all business units and project entities, consolidating inputs into a group-wide financial plan.
    • Develops rolling forecasts and reforecast models that dynamically reflect project execution realities, cost variances, and revenue recognition updates.
    • Designs and maintains management reporting dashboards and KPI frameworks that enable leadership to track financial performance against plan.
    • Conducts project-level cost analysis, variance investigation, and earned value assessments for active EPC and infrastructure projects.
    • Partners with Project Managers and Commercial teams to align financial tracking with physical project progress milestones.

    Treasury, Cash Management & Working Capital

    • Manages daily treasury operations including cash positioning, bank reconciliations, payment approvals, and intercompany settlements.
    • Develops short and medium-term cash flow forecasting models and monitors liquidity headroom against operational requirements.
    • Oversees working capital cycle optimisation, identifying opportunities to improve debtor collections, creditor management, and inventory financing.
    • Manages banking relationships and ensures effective utilisation of credit facilities, bonds, and guarantees across project portfolios.

    Tax Planning & Regulatory Compliance

    • Ensures full compliance with Nigerian tax obligations including CIT, WHT, VAT, PAYE, and transfer pricing requirements.
    • Coordinates with tax consultants on annual tax computations, deferred tax provisioning, and relief applications.
    • Monitors regulatory developments from FIRS, CAC, SEC, and other relevant bodies and advises management on their financial implications.
    • Supports tax planning initiatives to optimise the group's effective tax rate while maintaining full regulatory compliance.

    Stakeholder Reporting & Board Support

    • Prepares high-quality financial reports, board packs, and investor presentations that communicate financial performance with clarity and credibility.
    • Supports the CFO and Executive Chairman with financial analysis for board submissions, strategic planning sessions, and shareholder updates.
    • Interfaces with lenders, investors, and development finance institutions (DFIs) on financial information requests, covenant compliance, and reporting obligations.

    EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline from a reputable institution.
    • Professional qualification: ACA (ICAN), ACCA, or CFA designation or progress toward CFA designation, is required.
    • Project Finance or Corporate Finance certifications (e.g., APMG, CISI, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
    • A master's degree in finance, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field is a strong advantage

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 10–12 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 5–6 years in a senior or specialist capacity.
    • Demonstrated track record of building complex financial models for capital projects, M&A, or infrastructure financing.
    • Experience within construction, EPC, infrastructure, real estate, or energy sectors is strongly preferred.
    • Prior exposure to project finance, development finance institutions (DFIs), or structured finance transactions is a material advantage.
    • Experience working with Executive Management or Boards in a finance advisory or reporting capacity.

    KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

    • Advanced financial modelling expertise, proficiency in building dynamic, integrated models from scratch in Microsoft Excel.
    • Deep knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax law, and financial reporting standards.
    • Strong understanding of project finance principles, cost accounting, and EPC contract financial mechanics.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Sage, or equivalent) and financial consolidation tools.
    • Knowledge of capital markets, corporate valuation, and M&A deal structuring.
    • Understanding of treasury management, FX risk, and working capital optimisation techniques.
