... read moreIn 2016, while studying Earth Science in the Netherlands, one of Andrew’s Professors introduced him to The FocusSpecs Adjustable Glasses. This opened his eyes to other sustainable and life-changing innovations that are inaccessible to poor communities. Thereafter, Andrew joined Impact Hub Amsterdam to learn more about social entrepreneurship. He instantly became fascinated by the power of social entrepreneurship and sustainable technological innovations to solve socio-economic and environmental challenges in the developing world particularly in his country, Nigeria, where over 70% of the population live in universally unacceptable conditions.

In October 2017, Andrew decided to set up Veritas Vision, a for-profit social enterprise that envisions a healthy, educated, equitable, and sustainable world where the poor have access to the resources, information, products and services they need to break out of the cycle of poverty.

In 2018, having gathered validated bottom-up data, we noticed that there was a dire problem both on the demand and supply sides of the off-grid solar industry. Being a social enterprise that is obsessed with unparalleled impact, we were also not convinced that our earlier mission of simply financing alternative life-changing solutions would significantly help the poor to break out of poverty because their problems are deep-rooted and multifaceted.

We are currently pivoting to solve the off-grid solar multi-sided problem through collaboration with key stakeholders to build the last-mile economic infrastructure needed to enable sustainable delivery of life-changing solutions targeted at the bottom billions to help them break out of the cycle of poverty.
