The Federal Medical Centre Gusau was established by the Federal Government in 1998 and took off in 1999.It is situated in Gusau Zamfara State. The Centre has now moved to ... read moreits new site since 2011.The hospital has maintained cordial working relationship with the Government and people of the state. Although Gusau has been an old commercial centre, its surrounding towns and villages depend on Agriculture as the main source of living. A large number of our patients are peasant farmers who travel long distance to access Health care services at our hospital. The escalation of Banditry activities in the state created a higher demand for services, which tremendously increased the number of patients coming to the Hospital with Gunshots and other injuries seeking quick medical attention, but most of the affected patients are peasant farmers that have low income earning. This reason to some extent affected our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) negatively.
The Hospital has grown significantly as we have many departments that are offering specialised service. It is also training Postgraduate Doctors in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Family Medicine.
