About Butterfield Bakery
Butterfield was established in South Africa in 1996. Soon after, Food Concepts acquired a Master Franchise Licence for West Africa that included the flexibility to evolve the brand from a retail bakery to wholesale bakery concept. In this regard, key motivators were identified in response to both mass-market demand and the potential of leveraging existing distribution channels in West Africa.
Today Butterfield operates 9 Plant Bakeries that sell millions of loaves a year. On this basis, we feel confident that Butterfield is well on its way to becoming the Number 1 Brand in Bread in Nigeria.
The Butterfield product range is currently focussed on mass market products like freshly baked loaves and rolls. However, our plans for the future include expansion into other affordable mass market confectionery products. Butterfield uses only state-of-the-art equipment and we incorporate highly efficient mass production processes aimed at producing high volumes, in the shortest spaces of time. This while ensuring quality, consistency and leveraging economies of scale.
Butterfield uses quality ingredients only in our secret buttery-to-goodness recipes. We mix and knead until the consistency and texture is just right before baking at the right temperature, for the right time, and then carefully packing to ensure fresh tasty products, every time.
Strengthening our distributor relationships and creating entrepreneurial opportunities at grass roots level remains at the heart of our business development strategy. This is in keeping with the Group’s CSR initiatives, which aim to enrich the quality of human life within the sphere of our operations.
