    Welding Inspector

    Job Purpose

    • The role ensures compliance with AWS standards, inspection procedures, and internal quality management systems while maintaining high-quality fabrication processes.
    • The Welding Inspector will oversee welding activities, approve welding documentation, support welder qualification processes, and ensure adherence to ISO/IMS procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

    Key Responsibilities
    Welding Inspection & Quality Control:

    • Inspect and monitor welding activities to ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and project requirements.
    • Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedures (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records (WQR) in accordance with applicable standards.
    • Verify welding parameters, materials, consumables, and equipment before and during welding operations.
    • Ensure welding work for Oil & Gas structures, transmission towers, telecom towers, and solar structures meets project specifications and industry standards.

    Fabrication & Welding Oversight:

    • Supervise fabrication processes and welding activities across structural fabrication works.
    • Provide technical guidance to welders and fabrication teams to improve welding quality and efficiency.
    • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).

    Quality Documentation & Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed inspection reports, welding logs, and fabrication quality reports in line with ISO standards.
    • Ensure proper documentation for welding activities, inspection records, and quality compliance.

    Process Development & Tooling:

    • Design and recommend jigs and fixtures for welding assemblies to ensure proper alignment and control welding distortion.
    • Support improvements in fabrication processes and manufacturing efficiency.

    Compliance & Standards:

    • Ensure welding operations comply with international welding codes and standards, including AWS and project-specific requirements.
    • Interpret and implement codes and standards applicable to different countries and project locations.

    Audits & Quality Systems:

    • Participate in internal and external audits related to quality procedures and departmental processes.
    • Support implementation and compliance with ISO and Integrated Management Systems (IMS).
    • Maintain quality assurance processes aligned with organizational standards.

    Requirements
    Education & Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Welding / Fabrication Engineering
    • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.

    Desired:

    • NDT Level II Certification (VT, MT, UT, PT, RT) is an added advantage.

    Experience Requirements:

    • Preferred Experience: 8 years
    • Experience working as a Welding Inspector in Oil & Gas structures, transmission towers, telecom towers, or solar structures fabrication.
