The Welder is responsible for carrying out welding, fabrication, and repair of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and related components in accordance with approved standards and safety procedures.
The role ensures structural integrity, durability, and availability of fleet assets through effective maintenance and repair activities.
Key Responsibilities
Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication works on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and components using appropriate welding techniques.
Carry out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on truck bodies, chassis, and structural components.
Repair cracks, fractures, and worn-out metal parts to restore structural strength and functionality.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication sketches for accurate execution of tasks.
Inspect welded joints and structures to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Operate and maintain welding equipment, tools, and machines in good working condition.
Support major repairs, modifications, and overhauls of truck bodies and metal structures.
Ensure proper alignment and fitting of fabricated components before welding.
Maintain daily work logs and report material usage and completed tasks to supervisors.
Adhere strictly to all safety procedures, including the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Collaborate with mechanical technicians and other maintenance personnel to ensure efficient repairs.
Suggest and implement improved fabrication and welding techniques for continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
Trade Test Certificate or Diploma in Welding and Fabrication or related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in welding, preferably within heavy-duty trucks.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of welding techniques and metal fabrication.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
Knowledge of safety standards and welding best practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
