Reporting To: Project Coordinator / WASH Project Manager
Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities
The Consultant will be responsible for the following:
- Training Design & Preparation
- Develop or adapt training modules/manuals for Artisans and WMC members.
- Prepare training plans, tools, and participatory learning materials.
- Ensure training content is context-specific and easy to understand.
Training Delivery
Conduct training sessions for Artisans on:
- Basic water facility operation and maintenance
- Minor repairs and troubleshooting
- Preventive maintenance practices
Conduct training sessions for WMCs on:
- Roles and responsibilities of WMC members
- Water facility management and governance
- Financial management, record keeping, and tariff collection
- Community engagement and conflict resolution
- Hygiene promotion and water safety practices
Practical Demonstrations
- Support trainees to apply learned skills through demonstrations and group work.
- Monitoring & Reporting
- Assess participants’ knowledge before and after training.
- Document training activities, attendance, and outcomes.
- Submit a comprehensive training report including challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations.
Coordination
- Work closely with the project team, community leaders, and local authorities.
- Ensure inclusiveness, gender sensitivity, and community participation during trainings.
Deliverables
- Training work plan and schedule
- Training materials/manuals
- Conducted training sessions for Artisans and WMCs
- Training attendance sheets and photos
- Final training report
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources, Civil Engineering, Environmental Health, WASH, Community Development, or related field.
- At least 3–5 years’ experience in WASH programming, especially community water systems.
- Proven experience in training Artisans and Water Management Committees.
- Strong facilitation and participatory training skills.
- Experience working in humanitarian or development settings, preferably in Northeast Nigeria.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, Hausa and knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
