    Vice President, Xcene Laboratories and Diagnostics

    • The Vice President (VP) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, driving strategic direction, scientific excellence, and operational performance across all laboratories, Genomics, diagnostic, clinical, bioavailability (BA), and bioequivalence (BE) functions. This leader will oversee multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, regulatory-compliant services that support client objectives, advance scientific innovation, and position the company as a market leader in the medical research and diagnostic space.

    Job Description

    Strategic Leadership:

    • Define and execute the strategic vision for laboratory research, genomics, diagnostic, clinical, BA/BE operations with full ownership and accountability of P&L.
    • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities and service offerings aligned with market trends and client needs.
    • Partner with the executive leadership team to shape company growth, innovation, and service expansion.

    Scientific, Regulatory and Operational Oversight:

    • Provide scientific leadership and oversight of preclinical, analytical, diagnostic, and clinical research programs.
    • Ensure optimal execution of BA/BE studies in compliance with international regulatory standards (e.g., NAFDAC, FDA, EMA, ICH, GCP, GLP).
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and innovation in laboratory and clinical operations.
    • Lead enterprise-wide efforts in collaboration with cross functional teams to ensure audit readiness, risk mitigation, and resolution of findings.
    • Maintain full compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., MLSCN, ISO, CAP).
    • Oversee the development and enforcement of SOPs, quality systems, and data integrity standards.
    • Responsible for the operational excellence and supply chain efficiency of the organization.

    Client and Partner Engagement:

    • Serve as the senior scientific and operational point of contact for key clients, regulatory bodies, and industry partners.
    • Guide proposal development, project planning, and client communications to ensure satisfaction and retention.
    • Represent the company at industry conferences, scientific forums, and regulatory meetings.

    Leadership and People Management

    • Provides overall leadership and direction for the achievement of agreed targets/objectives for the organization.

    · Build and mentor high-performing scientific and operational teams across departments.

    • Foster a culture of scientific excellence, ethical conduct, and promoting the company`s core values (Integrity, Teamwork, Equity, Excellence, Innovation, Learning and Adaptability) and a strong team culture.
    • Supports the implementation and facilitation of relevant workshops and training courses
    • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.

    Requirements

    Education.

    • PhD/Master's Degree or equivalent advanced degree in medical microbiology, genomics, pathology, medical laboratory science, public health, life sciences or related field.

    Experience

    • Minimum of fifteen (15) years’ relevant or related post-graduation experience, with at least five (5) years’ experience in a senior laboratory management, clinical research, and/or bioanalytical services position.
    • Registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)
    • Possession of a current annual practicing license
    • ISO 15189 (Medical Laboratory QMS) training will be added advantage
    • Proven track record overseeing BA/BE studies, clinical trials, or diagnostic services in a regulated environment.
    • Deep understanding of global regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA, WHO) and industry best practices.
    • Strong business acumen, with experience managing budgets, P&L, and cross-functional teams.
    • Familiarity with laboratory automation, LIMS, and digital health technologies.
    • Experience in strengthening diagnostic networks including supporting elements, such as specimen transport, biosafety, supervision, mentorship, and quality assurance
    • Knowledge of mycobacteriology laboratory work, solid and liquid culture and/or other diagnostics
