Position And Duties

• The University Librarian is a Principal Officer and the Custodian of the University's Books, Publications, Journals, and Articles.
• He/she is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and the coordination of all Library services.
• As a Member of the University Management, he/she must appreciate the complexity of the University system and enjoy good mental/physical health while enjoying a tenure of a single term of five (5) years.

The Candidate

• He/she will participate in the conduct and supervision of research activities, the conduct and supervision of examination and the collection and storage of Library materials, books, journals and articles.
• He/she must possess a combination of service-oriented skills, professionalism and scholarship in research and publications adjudged through professional practice in an academic or research institution with maturity and robust exposure.

Qualifications and Experience

• Additionally, he/she must have a keen interest in library and information science and possess a good University honours Degree with relevant academic and professional qualifications in Library Studies and Information Science. Possession of a relevant higher degree (Ph.D.) and ICT knowledge would be added advantages.
• The applicant should have attained the rank of a Deputy University Librarian with a minimum of twelve (12) years post-qualification working experience, of which seven (7) years must have been spent in a University.
• He/she must display a high level of productivity with the capability to manage the Library and command the respect of University staff with high integrity and transparency at work.
• The possession of an NYSC Discharge/Exemption/Exclusion Certificate and registration with a Librarian professional body with a practicing license is mandatory i.e. Librarians Registration Board of Nigeria.

Terms and Conditions of Service

• The applicant should not be more than 60 years at the time of assumption of office.
• The salary and conditions of service are as applicable to what obtains in comparable institutions as determined by the University's Governing Council.
