    System Administrator

    Job Purpose

    • The System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day technical support of end-user hardware, IT asset lifecycle management, system upgrades, operating system administration, and print server operations across the organisation.
    • The role is the first line of hands-on technical support for hardware issues and repairs and owns the accuracy and integrity of the organisation's IT asset register through consistent tracking and tagging. This is a dedicated, full-time technical role reporting to the Technical Lead.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Hardware Technical Support & Repairs: Provide first- and second-line technical support for desktops, laptops, and peripherals; diagnose faults and carry out or coordinate hardware repairs to minimise user downtime.
    • IT Asset Management & Tagging: Maintain an accurate, up-to-date inventory of all IT assets, including procurement intake, asset tagging, assignment tracking, and retirement/disposal records.
    • System Upgrades & OS Administration: Plan and execute operating system upgrades, patches, and system re-imaging across the device fleet, ensuring machines remain current, stable, and secure.
    • Print Server Management: Administer print servers and network printers/MFPs, including driver deployment, queue management, and troubleshooting of print, scan-to-email, and scan-to-folder issues.
    • Software Upgrades and Patches over DS: Install, upgrade, and maintain standard software images and business applications on end-user systems.
    • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain an accurate asset register and support-ticket log; provide regular status reports to the Technical Lead on outstanding hardware issues and asset movements.
    • Incident Response: Respond promptly to hardware and system-level incidents, escalating to the Technical Lead where required.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree / HND in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Must have* 2–4 years' hands-on experience in system administration or IT hardware support.
    • Proven experience with IT asset management/tagging processes and tools.
    • Solid working knowledge of Windows (and/or Linux) system administration, imaging, and patch management.
    • Experience administering print servers and multifunction printers (MFPs) in an office environment.
    • Relevant certifications an advantage: CompTIA A+/Network+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent.

    Key Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong hands-on hardware diagnostic and repair skills.
    • Meticulous record-keeping, especially for asset tracking and tagging.
    • Good time management — able to triage and resolve multiple support requests across the organisation.
    • Clear communicator, comfortable supporting non-technical staff.
    • Reliable and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership over assigned equipment and systems.

    Reporting & Support Structure:

    Technical Support & Repair

    • The System Administrator will report directly to the Technical Lead, IT & Innovation, who will provide hands-on mentorship and operational support during onboarding and beyond.
    • This reporting line ensures clear ownership of hardware support, asset management, and system administration duties, with well-defined coordination with the wider IT Operations team and SOC team — ensuring responsibilities are well-structured with minimal overlap across.
